Let Me Live Original Rod Stewart Demo Unreleased: I generally stay out of any debate as to when this was recorded (popular opinion says it's Hot Space/Works era). You include this as a ADATR era track. Ok, if that is the case - Was the track then re-worked, specifically by Freddie, at some later point? His voice just doesn't sound like mid-70s. Is there a story to the evolution to Let Me Live that we haven't learned yet? |

Zeni: "Let Me Live Original Rod Stewart Demo Unreleased:" This is when Rod Stewart claims he had a demo version of the song (or at least an idea) before any Queen involvement. I have no idea of who wrote this first - or when it was written (Seb is better than I), or if the original version was Rod's or Queen's - all I have done is reported Rod's point of view. Personally, I think they were all so drunk that no one remembers anything clearly! (But then again, to be fair to Rod, I do think this was was around the middle of the "Hair, Teeth & Nose" idea - so perhaps they were a little bit more serious than everyone ever thought). btw: What is a wet sprocket? |

btw: What is a wet sprocket? theres a band called Toad the wet sprocket, a joke of some sort |
Maz 31.10.2004 00:21 |
It seems as if Let Me Live has a story to it that the public didn't know about. A discussion for another thread, I suppose.
John S Stuart wrote: btw: What is a wet sprocket?Yes, as Stussy said, an homage to Toad the Wet Sprocket, a Southern Califonia based "alternative" band from the 1990s. The name itself is a line from a Monty Python sketch. |

Sebastian 31.10.2004 01:09 |
Yes I think the Let Me Live thing should be discussed separately, because it's way too long. We should ask Brian if he can stop looking for digital photo aliens, or maybe one of those ETs know the answer :) |

Wouldn't Rockin' Rod expect to be credited as a co-writer, no matter how small his initial input was? |

this let me live by RS is something I long wanted since I love his style and play the game with andy giib, in which im waiting for "The game" JJS review. |
Mr. Mack 31.10.2004 03:09 |
I don't think Let Me Live is from ADATR session. Freddie's vocal didn't sounds the same as 70. BTW I love this song (I'm talkin' about version of MIH) |
POTUeditor 31.10.2004 08:53 |
Re - Somebody To Love - @ the convention this year GB played a version with an extended portion (intro perhaps - my memory fails me) with all sorts of wonderful harmonies that definitely exists! Superb stuff it was too. |
Penetration_Guru 31.10.2004 11:31 |
"Toad The Wet Sprocket" - a band named after a line in Monty Python (Rock Notes, I think) ADATR is apparently the next DVD-Audio |

@ John SS : Mistake correction about the 29-march-76 gig. You mention it asafternoon performance. It;s the EVENING SHOW. Zoom queen 2lp/2cd these are actually different shows. Zoom 2lp afternoon show No medley only JAILHOUSE ROCK after Now I'm Here Zoom queen 2cd (3 different versions excist all the same content!) 29-03-76 EVENING SHOW!!! This one featers the rnr medeley after Now I'm Here. Many years the ZOOM LP was stated as the evening show it's not true : Freddie before White Queen : Hello and good evening uuuhh....afternoon everybody" Brian before in the lap of the gods revis...: Making this a good afternoon performance" The evening show is released on bootleg cd the afternoon show is NOT released on a pressed (silver) cd bootleg !!!! There are some cdr's but they are rare too. There is a lot of mistaking on these shows I hope this will help you out a bit !! Other differences between the afternoon and evening are the sound qualitiy : the afternoon is better!!) - and the evening has more intervalls (silences) - the evening show has mono/stereo problems on first two tracks! The evening show is availble on these formats (these are silver pressed cd's and not cdr's !!) - Queen Zoom 2cd LLX1/2 silver cd's japan value about euro 300-400 about 250 copies were made early 90's! - Queen Zoom 2cd LLX1/2 dutch rerelease this one has a thin 2cd set package,(as the japanese have the thich 2cd cases!!) can be recognised because each cd has one track about (45 min's) you cannot skip between the tracks, and the BLUE/GREEN colours on the sleeve are lighter than the japanese releases. released 1996 about 1000+ copies.estimated price 40-50 euro's - Queen ZOOM 2cd LLX1/2 Japanse release same sleeve as first japanese release but with a sticker on front: "limited edition gold discs" The cd's are indeed pressed on a gold platted disc, nice item. With track skip options, same sound as original (dutch rerelease has slighlty minor sound quality). appeared the marked in 1997 about 200-300 copies were made, estimated price between 150-200 euro's - QUEEN EXPERT SKY CABINET 2cd ,released in japan 2003 on gypse eye label (gypse eye 201/202), 2cd set in a thin case, with track skipping options. Completely different sleeve as the ZOOM cd rereleases (shows a live photo. about 1000+ copies estimated price 40 euro's, this is the easiest way to obtain this cd !! cause this one isn't completely sold out. This cd is sometimes sold as the afternoon show ,but again it;s the evening!!! And now the afternoon show 29-03-76 The only complete release on - ZOOM QUEEN 2lp japan , released 1977 , about 200 copies were made ,mostly seized and destroyed by the japanse police about 50 copies seem these days to excist!! Estimated price 1000-2000 euro's stated as the most rarest and expensive BOOTLEG EVER!!!!!!! - QUEENTESSENCE (no spelling error!) 1cd bootleg ,luxembourgh, released 1996 about 500-1000 copies were made. This cd is a compilation of various queen shows, among the copenhagen 77,wembley 86, rainbow 74 (march 31st!)and others. This one is the only pressed bootleg cd containing 3 tracks of the famous 26-03-76 afternoon show : IN THE LAP OF THE ... NOW I'M HERE JAILHOUSE ROCK These tracks my dears especially Now I'm here and Jailhouse rock are one of the best versions QUEEN ever performed in their carreers !!!!! The really ROCK!!!!!!! If you see these get them it's soooo good, when I have them in my car I put my stereo volume to the max , this far out !!! You really should hear them!!! Maybe I can upload these to this server???? - Well I have both shows both are one of the best Queen performed, if anyone wants a cdr copy please contact me for a swap!! Well hope this will help you a little bit!! Sikke van der Veen sikkevanderveen@wanadoo.nl |

There are some pictures of Freddie and Rod recording together in 1983, in Peter Freestone's book. |
Whisperer 31.10.2004 16:24 |
This is for all of you who ask (stupid) questions about Let Me Live. They could have recorded the song for the first time in 1976, returned to it in 1983 and even recorded one more version in 1991. Have those of you who say "but Freddie's voice doesn't sound like it did in the 70s at all" even thought about this possibility. C'mon! Use your brains! |

I asked "Was the track then re-worked, specifically by Freddie, at some later point?" and then followed it up with this comment: "Is there a story to the evolution to Let Me Live that we haven't learned yet?" I was asking, in terms most people seemed to have understood, if the LML version from 1995 featured early 1980s vocals (or later) even though a 70s version might have existed. It's a way to get an answer without compromising someone's info. It's bleeding obvious what you said is probably the case, yet we have no firm details over what happened. If you have evidence as to how this happened rather than speculation, please share, Whisperer (though sharing is a foreign concept to you, I hear). |

Use your brains!I'm not of one these guys who you wrote this, but I'm not sure that there was a longtime history of recording Let Me Live through the years! And c'mon guys "if it's not proved - don't judge!" - Brian stole See What A Fool I've Been, Queen stole Let Me Live, Freddie stole Life Is Real etc. What for? 'Under Pressure' was written by them and Bowie and no-one says "It's Queen song, who the hell is Bowie?! We don't know him! He's liar!" The Cross had song called 'Tear It Up' (later changed to 'Bad Attitude'), but no-one thought they stole Brian's one. Rod could have demo, title or whatever, but it's says nothing. Or it would be seems as Queen wrote by themselves only one song: "Stealin'" ;) |

You people, iy doesn´t matter who wrote the song. Even though bowie is a great artist he could never be compared to the genius of Freddie Mercury. So cut the crap and focus in enjoying a real piece of art |

Uh, thanks for settling that nine-month argument then. |
Sebastian 12.07.2005 20:59 |
Lyrics can be (partly) Rod's IF that '76 version exists. But I doubt he composed the music. I don't even know if he could write music. |

This is for Lester: Was that a sarcasm? Bcause aparently the argument is still on. I may be crazy but I do not care about who is the real author of one song from queen. I guess i just know how to enjoy music and I do not like to question a dead person. If I were you(all the ones that are criticizing Freddie), I would reconsider my own actions. If it wasn´t a sarcasm, sorry Lester but they just kept on with the argument. Thanks |
Lester Burnham 27.07.2005 12:29 |
They kept on with the argument once you bumped the nine-month old thread that was already put to rest, perhaps thinking that it was a new thread. |
