Whilst watching a documentry about Queen the other day, I heard a lady that worked with Kenny Everet say that Freddie came to see them with The video for " im going slightly mad " so that Kenny could play ot on his show, and she said that Freddie explained to them that he wrote the song because the type of AIDS he had would make him go slightly mad...I did'nt think she was telling the truth as Freddie only told the Band members he had AIDS, can anybody tell me if she was telling the truth ?
sorry f its abit confusing, just somthing thats been makeing me wonder !
me xXx
ah he means the 1979 TV performance, where they both fought (the scenario with the beer etc.)
Although it has nothing to do with the question of MrsBadGuy....
btw, I dont give a f*ck of what people hear, say, tell, or fantasize. You know, the story with BoRhap is about AIDS, etc etc...
I am sure that FM did not walk around with a megaphone telling he has AIDS
I think Freddie and Kenny didn't really get along in the last few years of Freddie's life?
Anyway, Fenderek is right. Slightly Mad is about gay sex.
"When the temperature rises"
"I'm one card short of a full deck"
"I'm not my usual topbilling"
"I'M COMING DOWN WITH A FEVER"
"This kettle is boiling over"
WHAT!!! Like everything FM did it was a way of working through the pressures of his life and from what i heard (from a very reliable source!) I'm Going Slightly Mad is most likely about "making fun" of trials and tribulations of going "mad".
By the time FM wrote that song he was suffering from the effects of AIDS and succumbed to the disease just a few short months after filming the video. He was exceedingly thin at the time of the filming and was in constant pain. He even has lost some of his vision. BTW some of the lyrics were written with the help of of Freddie's friend, Peter Straker.
Sadly IMHO it remains one of the finest videos ever made. If FM had lived who knows what direction they may have gone, but unfortunately we will never know.
