It also echoed the black and white themes of Queen II. DAY at... NIGHT at... (contrasts opposites etc). Queen II - black outer cover/white inner cover.
Other ideas non-musically (Freddie black/Brian White nail polish. Freddie black/Brian white Queen. Freddie black/Brian White clothes - or vice versa).
Opera = Ends with "God Save The Queen" (UK national anthem traditional end to music hall/theatre/opera = indoor experience - usually posh. White outer/black inner sleeve(border).
Races = opens with anthem/fanfare and into a gallop (Tie your mother down). Usually posh (eg ROYAL Ascot) = outdoor experience. Ends with night coming down ("Same moon shines...") to close the day...
So lot's of references - not just Marx Brothers. That's why I liked Queen - very multi-layered.
Duck Soup anyone?
Well said John.
to give you my point of view as well, the first one happened to have some link to Opera... So a suitable title should have a link to that, and it would have to sound really inviting and it should reflect to the theme of the songs.
Brian once said that A Night At The Opera should have been a double album, because most of the songs from A Day At The Races were written in the same time. However Queen decided to release two seperate albums. Making sure there was a link between those two albums it was clear the second one had to be a follow-up. So they chose another title from a Marx Brother's movie.
No, thats just British tabloid scum, but I dont think they named the album after that!
Going back to what John said, Ive never really looked at it that way. Very interesting. You will never know what they were thinking!
I should add I saw the ANATO film a few weeks ago. It is very good chosen name for Queen album based on name of this film. Songs like LOASA, SR, LOML or GC almost would be in film. By my mean the feeling of Marx ANATO is somewhat in Queen album. Strange and hard to explain, but I think so anyway.
BTW, it's worth to look at Marx Bros ANATO (one of their best). And then listen to Queen. Funny feeling.
There's a photo of the band meeting Groucho Marx, where they presented him with a gold disc, don't know if anyone has a link to that picture. Groucho also sent Queen a telegram which said something like, " Congratulations on the success of your album. I will be calling my next movie, Greatest Hits of the Rolling Stones". Thought that was very funny.
To get latest information r updates about movies you have to open this link and watch all those movies. All things considered in the-essays review to download the link, scripts etc of queen’s movie.
