Hey everyone. Just wanted to see how many of you were in attendance at the Paris hotel during the week of September 8. For those of you who were not, Las Vegas was your chance to meet Queen. I was there September 6-9 and managed to see Brian May every day. Roger Taylor was a bit more elusive - but was out and about, associating with the general public at the premiere's after-party. I managed to weasel my way into every Queen event that week - the premiere of WWRY, the after-party and, thank God, the Queen concert. On the night of the 7th, Brian May hung out at a bar called Le Cage - where a few of us from the fan club were busy drinking. Brian remained down there with us for nearly 6 hours. A few of us were lucky enough to get photos with him. Mine I have posted to the Brian May pictures section of this site. Suzanne, where are you? I would love to see the picture of you with Brian. I also want to get to you the picture of us with Roy Thomas Baker. Anyone at the show, get back. I'd love to hear from others who made the trek to Las Vegas. |
KillerQueen840 22.09.2004 16:24 |
But also WWRY will be coming to Boston sooner or later!!!! So there will be another chance espeacially for those like me who live in the area! |
KillerQueen840 22.09.2004 16:25 |
And welcome to QZ mrjordy! I hope you enjoy your stay. |
mrjordy 22.09.2004 18:00 |
Thanks for the welcome, KillerQueen. I'd love to see WWRY hit Boston - when's that supposed to happen? |
KillerQueen840 22.09.2004 18:02 |
Well I heard Brian on the radio a while back after the premire of WWRY in Vegas and he said that they were going to come to Boston. I think he said they will be just looking for places there next year. So I don't know when the actual show will happen. |
Matti 22.09.2004 18:06 |
I saw WWRY on Freddie's birthday and also got to meet Brian and Roger that day. Ooh, it was fun! |
mrjordy 22.09.2004 18:12 |
Awesome, Matti. I didn't get a chance to really talk to Roger, but did meet him. Brian was very nice and very casual. I was amazed that he had the time to hang out with us - especially the night before the premiere. |
Matti 22.09.2004 18:18 |
Well, I didn't get to hang out with them- although that would have been awesome, but I did get to meet them. They were very nice. |
iron eagle 22.09.2004 18:55 |
i was there-- it rocked! cant wait to do it again! |
Gunpowder Gelatine 22.09.2004 20:09 |
I was there this past weekend, and I loved it. Definitely worth the trip. |

I hate you all. *puts on grumpy face* |
mrjordy 24.09.2004 00:23 |
You were @ the premiere, Iron? Sweet. Did you get into the concert, as well? |
*goodco* 24.09.2004 12:39 |
mrjordy wrote: "You were @ the premiere, Iron? Sweet. Did you get into the concert, as well? " Hell, he was with Jacky most of the time, as well as Ray (and maybe my wife). Sat behind us during the pre-premiere whilst children pouted, was at all the bars (some with my wife), the premiere (maybe with my wife), and the 'pool party' (definetely with my wife)....about six rows back center stage, just behind us to the left during the fab concert..... (can't figure out whether to type in the lyrics of Queen's 'Jealousy' or Lennon's 'Jealous Guy' at this moment) Damn....the six hours must have been great. Hope that isn't the reason Brian passed on the meet and greet with the USA and British fan club members. joe, wife, and the dozen yearold doggie+ |
iron eagle 24.09.2004 15:31 |
yes i made it to the tuesday show and then the premiere on weds. had a blast went to the after party too--- the vibe was incredible. from the rock walk ceremony-to the show- Arigon-to *ahem* a cocktail or two--- it was just a great night and great way to end a trip to Vegas. i was at that bar quite a few times too-- mostly hanging from the rails on the outside *LOL* Edit--meant to add- sorry i did not get to meet you |

I'm jealous! :'( (hey, but great for you :D) |

oh wow you were with lisa and mark and the rest of the gang-- at the napolean and bar.... i just saw pictures by lisa i was drinking absolute martini's but i think you and i did banter back and forth a little bit.. |
mrjordy 25.09.2004 20:18 |
IRON - Oh, Christ! Who are you? Are Lisa's pictures on the internet? Tell her I said hello. I was, indeed, with everyone that night - drunk as piss. |
mrjordy 25.09.2004 20:32 |
JGOOD - No, that was after the fan club meeting. |
iron eagle 26.09.2004 00:37 |
yea we bantered and spoke several times i was with the wildones over by the windows--i am one half of the paul and ray duo. i know i came over and told everyone to behave *LOL* i feel really stupid-it didnt click until i saw a picture--- |
mrjordy 26.09.2004 23:58 |
We were very much ill behaved. I felt like a total moron the next morning, after remembering that I accused Brian May of stealing my pen after signing an album for me (which he did). Even Brian told us to calm down - then bought a few of us drinks. I think he really wanted us to get even more far gone, so we could continue telling him how great he was. |
Mean Mistreater 27.09.2004 10:40 |
has anything been said about how long WWRY will be running in vegas? |
mrjordy 27.09.2004 20:27 |
No. As far as I know, there hasn't yet been a release as to how long it will run in Vegas. I'd imagine they'll see how it goes, then determine from there. |
iron eagle 27.09.2004 20:39 |
it has a 10yr opened ended run in Vegas if they want it |

Hi folks... I just joined QZ as i felt motivated to add some comments to this thread! It's a great chat and i'd like to add to it! I was also at the Premeire on Sept 8th. I flew out solo from Boston to take part in this historic event and it did'nt dissapoint. I missed out on all the excitement i have now learned about (Brian at Le Cage until all hours...etc!) but i more for made up for it during my one day/night stay. I was happy to see many US fans i have known thru the years there who came for the Fan Club Show primarily, but were very fortunate to score the last-minute released Premiere Tickets. Although i did'nt really get to chat with most of you, i was indeed glad that you all were able to make the trek out there...exspecially all you ex-Royal Vision Members! I was there as a special invited guest and i am still stunned and amazed at my experience that day/night. It was absolutely incredible to say the very least....everyone there knows what i am talking about. That nights show was spot on and the Cast were definately feeling the enthusiastic buzz from all of us Queenies in the audience. They truly value your reactions and enthusiasm! The show was great, but i think it was the awesome AfterShow Party that really blew me away. And i thought the Red Carpet was a trip...all those cameras were very intimidating i must say! The Aftershow Party was, and still is, beyond desscription in a way for me. Here it is almost 3 weeks later, and i am still reeling from the experience. Seeing both Brian and Roger so up close and personal, PERFORMING live was AMAZING!! When MeatLoaf came on...i nearly died from excitement. What a SHOW!!! Nuno was awesome too...gotta love those Bostonian Bands! Wish i knew so many more of you were there...perhaps then i would'nt have been so alone during my stay....i felt like a incognito John Deacon but like the song says..."Yes..it was a worthwhile experience!" Hey, how about some more stories regarding everyones moments with Roger and Brian? I'd like to hear more about what i missed! And i'd like to add this....WWRY would do very well if it came to Boston. Ol' Beantown has always been a major Queen City since the very early days. I'm happy to hear Brian still remembers us all... Rememeber, Boston beat Vegas by 22 years in proclaiming a "Queen Day". Can't wait until WWRY plays the Wang or the Opera House and we will all be treated to "Queen Day II"!! Bring it on!! Yee HAA!!! VOTE DEACONCRATIC IN 04' JOHN DEACON FOR PRESIDENT!! |
mrjordy 28.09.2004 19:09 |
DEACONS 1ST - I will post the full story of hanging out with them on here very soon. Like you, I am still completely blown away at seeing Brian and Roger up close and personal. I never, ever thought I'd be front row at a Queen concert. Las Vegas was one of the best experiences I've ever had. |

DEACON'S 1ST - Hate that I didn't get back sooner. I look forward to reading you review later on tonight, when I get out of work. Currently, I'm doing a ton of paperwork and praying for this day to be over. I should have my full story up soon. I'm aiming to, maybe instead, just dedicate a whole damn website to that experience, complete with pictures of Queen, fans (and myself) with them, my passes for Queen-related events, etc. We'll see. |

Hey Jordy! Glad to hear from you mate....listen, i LOVE your idea for a website TOTALLY dedicated to our experiences at the Premeire! I want to hear EVERYONES tales regarding Brians time with them at Le Cage, Roger hiding out in the Cafe', and MORE!! I say go for it dude. Today was a long day for me too so i hear you....i was glad when the workday was done today too! Great to come home and kick back with some good reads on the Queen Message Boards. I regularly visit 3, and my main review for my Vegas experience is on the WWRY Message Forum. Once you get a chance to read it, let me know what you think! The version on there is the SHORT version if you can beleive it...(wait, Jordy can as he was THERE!!) Hope to hear from you soon! In the meantime...we have the big presidential debate to laugh at....(sigh) I hate politics... I'm voting "Deaconcratic"... JOHN DEACON FOR PRESIDENT!! YOU CAN'T BEAT HIM |
mrjordy 30.09.2004 21:42 |
DEACON'S 1ST - I'd love to put our Queen/Vegas-related pictures together, even, and get a whole pile of pics on that site. I'm trying to contact a few people who were at the premiere and concert, who also hung out with the boys. Know Lisa? I'm trying to track her down. She's got some pictures of me. Tonight's presidential debate is quite interesting. John Kerry's doing a great job of making the most powerful man in America look like a complete ass. |
mrjordy 30.09.2004 21:48 |
DEACONS 1ST - Send me a link to your review, if you would. I've scanned the WWRY site, and either can't access it or am just not looking in the right place. |

Hi Jordy Hey, i'm really happy to hear that you are serious about setting up a Vegas Premeire Experience Website!! This will ROCK!!!! Here is the site address to where my review is on the official WWRY Message Forum. link If the above does not work...here's the info to find my comments: Again, you want the WWRY Message Forum...click WWRY America then find the topic "Opening Night...from the INSIDE" On page 3 is my review. Scroll down halfway, and look for my pink John Deacon photo avatar and you have found it! Good luck! I have just posted some smiley faces to move the thread up to the top...if you move quickly, you should find the thread easy now! Let me know how you do! Oh, and unfortunately i did not have a camera with me that night. I assumed that such things would not be allowed so did'nt bother. Silly me! And i don't think i know a Lisa...i know a Linda though that was there that night... Jordy, any chance you could share some more of your Brian experience stories here? I want to hear MORE!! |

DEACONS 1ST - Thanks for then link. I ready your review - right on target. I completely agree with everything you had to say, and experienced the same feelings. Paris Las Vegas was the most surreal, entertaining and fabulous experience I've ever had. Of course, I'll post my Brian experiences here. The first experience is rather short. Just the same, here is how I came to meet Brian. My best friend Sarah and I arrived at Paris early Tuesday, the day before the premiere. We had stayed at Circus Circus on Monday - the whole time I was there, I just wanted to get to Paris. Once I did get there, like you, I was pleasantly surprised to hear Queen in the elevator. I decided right then that I was in my element - that there had to be more Queen dorks hiding, somewhere. I unpacked, got settled into my room then walked with Sarah to the WWRY store. Everything I saw, I bought. I couldn't resist the new Live At Wembly DVD, the shot glasses, postcards - all that Queen shit! I bought everything I could get my hands on. So, I walk up to the cash register, arms full of Queen. Sarah is beside the register, looking at rather tacky Queen bracelets. Brian May walks in, takes a postcard off the rack, then strolls over to the register - right beside me. I poked Sarah as hard as I could and said, "Jesus fucking Christ, that's fucking Brian May." Sarah was stunned - I was paralyzed. Brian was out of the store in a flash. I ordered Sarah, "stay here. Watch my stuff." I followed Brian out. Brian was walking so fast, that I had to run after him. At this point, I looked like a deranged man hunting down Brian May. I chased him nearly to Bally's, well past JJ's Boulangerie and all the other restaurants. Brian had stopped to chat with a couple and their children. While he was paused, I ran as fast as I could. He only chatted with the couple for a moment, then began walking again. At this point I yelled, "hey, Brian" and waved, as if we were old friends. Brian gave me a confused look, waved back and kept walking. I was hell-bent. I walked right up to him and said, "Brian... I just adore your music." I didn't know what else to say. I couldn't process words in my head, I couldn't encapsulate every single thing I'd ever dreamed of saying to Brian May. Brian replied, "thanks, but I'm in a bit of a rush - later." I had an internal freak-out. Total overload. I ran back to the WWRY store as fast as I possibly could, so I could tell Sarah that I had met Brian. I went straight to the payphones after I paid for my stuff, so I could call every single person I've ever known, to let them know that my life was complete - I had met one fourth of Queen. |

mrjordy 04.10.2004 22:55 |
Le Cage 9.07.04 - How I met Brian May I flew from North Carolina to Las Vegas, Nevada specifically to meet Queen - or, at least, some of Queen. I knew from the moment I arrived at Paris that I'd have to be dilligent in tracking down the appropriate connections in order to do so. Naturally, like most of the fan club, I assumed that Roger and/or Brian would attend the fan club meeting on Tuesday. Being an American fan club member, however, I didn't have a pass so it really didn't matter one way or another. Early Tuesday evening, I marched around Paris looking for anyone who looked like a Queen fanatic - I found Linda in a Breakthru t-shirt, sitting at Le Cage with her friend Cheryl. I walked right up, sat down without asking and fired up conversation. I quickly realized that they were, indeed, in the fan club and were going to the gathering at the theatre lobby. I pressed them for information - were there any Queen sightings? Has anyone hung out with them? Yes, the night before, at Napoleon's. I knew I had missed my chance. Goddamn me, for staying at Circus Circus on Monday night. I asked Cheryl and Linda if they knew of anyone who had a pass - they didn't. Shortly after, they left to join the fanclub at the gathering. I sat at Le Cage, pissed off knowing that all the other hardcore Queen fans were hob-knobbing with Brian and Roger at the bar. 10 minutes into sulking, Cheryl comes out and says, "I think we've got a pass for you." They introduce me to Lisa, who has a pass for sell. Her boyfriend wasn't able to attend, thank God, so I got his pass and went on into the fanclub gathering. Brian and Roger didn't show, of course, but I did meet Jacky, who was very kind (though brief). I wanted her to know exactly who I was and that I was more than interested in going to the premiere's after-party the next night. She replied, "so does everyone else in the world." Bam. Shot down. Little did I know, I'd made the most important connection I'd make during the entire Vegas experience. I think Jacky saw my enthusiasm because - long story short, she gave me a ticket to the premiere and a pass to the after-party (after "winning" a "guess which number Jacky's thinking of" lottery). So, after the fanclub gathering, I am beyond disappointed. As nice as it was to meet a whole boatload of other Queen fans, I sincerely wanted to be there just to meet Brian and Roger. So, the evening continues. My best friend Sarah, who joined me in Vegas, was not interested in going down to Le Cage, where I was told a bunch of people from the fanclub would be gathering late Tuesday night. I got to Le Cage around 11:00, after drinking heavily just hours before. Linda and Cheryl are there, as is Lisa and a few other folks. I hung out with Mark - from Alabama, Suzanne - from Ohio and Tom and his wife - both from Liverpool, England. We all sit around in anticipation, hoping that Brian and/or Roger pop in for a second night of drinks at the bar. So, we sit around and drink. We sat around and drink more. We drink and drink and drink, until I am completely out of my head. Jacky sits down with a few important-looking people at about 1am. Within the next hour, Brian casually strolls into the bar and sits down beside her. At this point, I am completely and utterly freaking out. I start taking picture after picture of him. Suzanne does the same. Tom says, "he's not a fucking animal in a zoo - let him be!" I ignore Tom and have another bourbon drink, then continue taking pictures. Brian is not at all social, at first, sort of hiding out in the corner with Jacky. I reluctantly run to the elevators to get my mint-quality original copy of Queen II - reluctantly, because I consider the fact that Brian may be gone by the time I get back down to the bar. He was there still, however. I walked up to his table, cigarette and drink in hand. I put my album down in front of him and sit down - again without asking. I said, "Brian, y |

Holy Crap Jordy!! What a amazing story man!! Was Jacky and Brian REALLY that toasted by 6 am?? I can't imagine Jacky being wasted...Brian , Yes!! So THEN what happened???? I MUST HEAR MORE!!! Don't take this the wrong way mate, but you were a little, um, rude with Brian but we forgive you. |
mrjordy 05.10.2004 23:43 |
DEACONS 1ST - Were there that night, at Le Cage? If so, holy shit! Did I do more than what I mentioned in the story? Was I really that rude? I mean, I know my recollections of that night sort of infer that, too... |
mrjordy 06.10.2004 00:27 |
9.8.04 - The Premiere The next morning, I woke up as hungover as a person could possibly be. I walked down to Le Cage and sure enough, people from the fanclub were still hanging out. Mark, from the Brian May crowd the night before, walks up and sort of gives me the evil eye. Everyone else was either really hungover and grouchy, or just grouchy to me. Who knows? I made an ass of myself, I admit. I got away from there in a hurry and went to JJ's Boulangerie for a croissant. Sarah had left Vegas by this point, so I decided not to do anything entertaining at all and instead take a nap in my room, which was 2774 - right over the pool area, with Queen's stage in full view. I was pleasantly surprised to hear and watch rehearsals for the concert out of my window. Most of the day is a blur - I went shopping, at some point and took yet another nap. When I woke up for the third time, it was time to hunt down Jacky. I desperately wanted passes to the aftershow, whether I got into the premiere or not. I found her in the lobby, with most of the fanclub huddled around her. I explained to her that I was from the American fanclub and that I didn't have a pass and that I really, really, really wanted one. Her response was quick - "so does everyone else." When a few people dissapated, Jacky pulled me over to the side and said, "hey, do you want a ticket to the premiere?" Of course I did. "Don't tell anyone I gave this to you - I mean it." The premiere was wonderful. I passed Eric Idle from Monty Python in the lobby, Robin Leach was sipping a drink not far from me and Brian and Roger walked by a couple times I caught just a glimpse of Robert De Niro. I eventually took my seat in the theatre. I had watched the musical the night before, so I wasn't really that geared up about it until I felt the vibe from the rest of the audience. You could just feel the excitement from all the Queenies. After the musical, I was told that everyone would be meeting at Le Cage before heading off to the after-show party and concert. Some of the UK club had tickets, most of the Americans didn't. Two other couples and myself hoovered around Jacky, waiting to see if she'd cave and admit that she did, indeed, have extra tickets. When the majority of the crowd disappeared, Jacky said, "ok, I have two tickets with two 'invited guest' passes - two people didn't show. We'll do a little lottery here. I'll pick a number between 1 and 100 and whoever guesses the closet number wins." The husband of the couple to her left one the first ticket. I knew I absolutely had to get the second one. "Ok, let's go again for the second ticket", she said. "Guess a number between 1 and 50." 25, I knew it. It's always 25. I said just that. "Yep, that's it. He hit the nail right on the head", Jacky said. She handed over the pass and ticket. I headed straight for the elevator. I got to the third floor pool area about 20 minutes before Queen played, just in time to see Roger and Brian make handprints for the Hollywood Rock Walk. After a photo shoot, they walked off and disappeared. Just a few minutes later, Brian comes on stage, has a few words, then tears into the intro to "Tie Your Mother Down". Just about everyone around me is completely freaking out. I quickly made my way to the front and then cautiously made my way up to the very front row. The concert was astounding. I enjoyed Meatloaf and the other guest singers quite a bit, but I was really hungry for Brian and Roger performing. Watching Brian play his red special 15 or so feet away from me was just about the most surreal and simultaneously pleasant experience I've ever had. Roger was amazing, as expected. I thought hearing him sing the line, "been a long time since you rock and rolled" was about as appropriate as could be. They sure as hell rocked that night. |

Fab Jordy....you were very lucky getting in. The Management of the Show released several additional tix for the Queen Fans as they were impressed with the positive responses and reactions they gave the show the night before the premiere. There were some invited guests that did'nt show, so this is how many US Fans ended up getting in to the show and the Afterparty. And no, I missed out on the Le Cage insanity on the night of the 7th....i flew in and arrived at the Paris at about 9pm which was really midnight to me due to the time difference. I was too pooped to party...i was wiped from the 8 hour flight!! I went straight to my room and crashed. I did however ntice a huge crowd at Le Cage though...the thought did cross my mind as to what was going on, but i did'nt see any Queen gear on anyone so wrote it off as some business convention gathering or something. Little did i suspect what was about to go down later on!! Any more adventures you can share with us about your Vegas excursion? Did you meet up with Brian or Roger during or after the Party? Love to hear these tales....anyone else care to add their stories???? |
iron eagle 06.10.2004 19:31 |
oh lord it was you! he really was pissed off ya know |
mrjordy 07.10.2004 17:55 |
IRON - Okay, you've got to give me more than that. What did Brian say or do? In the end, I think, all was well - I bought Brian a drink, Brian sent drinks over to us. |
mrjordy 07.10.2004 18:14 |
DEACONS 1ST - After the after-show, a few of us went to Napoleon's. Brian and Roger walked by several times, although neither one came in. Probably with good reason, considering the night before. Roy Thomas Baker was noticed by a few Queenies right outside of Napoleon's, so Suzanne and I ran out and had our pictures made with him. He was quite nice, though brief. That's really about it. What a blur. |
Deacons 1st Choice 07.10.2004 19:20 |
Roy was one cool dude....love his new hairdo, he looks so "Californian" now. Yeah, i have a nice Roy encounter too...When the AfterParty broke up at midnight, most of the band and VIP's were heading down to Risque for a meal and drinks. I met Roy at the elevators and he was totally confused as to where they were supposted to be going...he had'nt any clue poor chap. It was just me and him there for a moment, with him trying to get his associates attention to let him know where to go. He was'nt having any luck...so i stepped over and clued him in as best i could. What i SHOULD have done is just bring him there myself, but i was SOOOO tired by then my brain was not functioning correctly enough to think of such brilliant moves. All i could hope is that he did'nt get lost and feel miffed about me giving him wrong directions! I think in the end, i DID!! Poor Roy...he's probably still wandering around the Paris looking for Risque. Did anyone here go to Risque after the Party? I want to hear more stories guys! |
mrjordy 07.10.2004 19:24 |
I didn't go to Risque after the party. After Napoleon's, I was so exhausted that I had to go to bed. I had a flight out the next morning. Just couldn't imagine another night of partying. |
iron eagle 07.10.2004 22:30 |
roy also spent a good while in Napelons Tuesday night while everyone was there too-- was so funny watching everyone when they finally realized--holy shit thats roy thomas baker.... and started gravitating to them... |

Yeah, i had to fly out the next day too.....did you get caught in that amazingly strange rain storm Jordy? My plane was grounded on the runway for 2 hours due to this freak rainstorm that blew in from nowhere. The sky turned green (yes, GREEN!!!) and all Hell broke loose. Needless to say i missed my connecting flight in Houston Tx and was left strandard! Spending the night in a run-down hotel after the forenight being at the Paris was , well, culture shocking! Ah...but it was all worth it. |

DEACONS 1ST - No, I didn't get caught in that rainstorm. Sorry to hear that you did. I had a flight at 10am to Houston, TX and then from there to Charlotte, NC. I did learn, however, to never fly on Continental. $10 tiny sandwiches, little seats. Very uncomfortable from NV to TX - then, by the grace of God, a smaller express jet from TX to NC. Much better. I had two seats all to myself, with free food. |

I have got sum pic's but i am not sure how to put them on this site for everybody to see! can anybody help me out please Kathy |
mrjordy 10.10.2004 20:28 |
KATHY - You can upload them to a pictures folder within, of course, the pictures section of Queenzone.com. That, or you can create a site at a homepage provider such as geocities.com and angelfire.com. Both are pretty easy to manuever around and offer explanations as to how to load pictures onto a website you create. |

...Really looking forward to your pictures. |
