Why it doesn't exist recordings of these songs with a decent sound??
Even the ones that appear in the FM Box set are horrible. I can barely note it is Freddie singing because of the way he sings, not for the voice tone at all.
The strange thing is that the small fragment of 'Goin Back' appearing at the end of "Mother Love' seems to be quite better.
This is sad, because these recordings weren't demos, they were released singles.
Does anybody have additional info??
I think the sound quality is good for the time and also for the budget they would have had. If you put it into context, it aint bad. They are the only two songs i like on pre ordained, maybe if you have a listen to that album...
I have to admit that I too prefer the sound of the Nuce ones in comparison. I think someone went a little overboard on the "restoration" of these two for the FM boxset. Personally, I think the amount of noise reduction used stripped away some of the sound.
Peace,
Adam.
Sorry oppositionist, I don't agree.
Those recordings are from 1971 not 1931, it was just 2 years before the Queen I recordings, and even a few years after Goin' Back were originally recorded by the Beach Boys, and there's no comparision point in the quality of sound. The time was not a factor for the lack of quality.
Maybe those tapes where used to maintain a window open during 1972....
