I downloaded a Nine Inch Nails concert (from easytree.org) for my stepson and listened to it. (They are actually a good band). This show which was recorded in August of 2000 features a rocked out version of Get Down Make Love!
A lot of you may already know of this cover but I hadn't looked at the setlist and was totally floored! Queen's influence knows no bounds!
This may have been covered in another thread so I'm sorry if I'm repeating... Just thought I'd share that!
never heard the live version, but i've got the studio version (on the cd single of 'Sin'), and it's a really good cover, in my opinion. NIN did a great job of making the song their own, and it almost sounds like a precursor to where Trent would return with 'Closer', with maybe a touch of 'The Perfect Drug'. (i love the early NIN....some of the later stuff just almost sounds like he's rehashing...)
Hope you don't mean The Fragile?? One of the best albums of all time, me thinks ;-)
Yeah, I'm a NIN-fan. Never realy liked their studio rendition of GDML though... It was played live on several occasions on the early 90's tour. Several bootlegs include the track.
Hmm I think I bought the Sin CD single back in '95 or so. I like NIN and the song but didn't really get into the cover...that was a long time ago though so I'll have to listen to it again :)
Something scary: I think if someone like Britney Spears covered this song right now, it would be a huge hit. But I hope she doesn't :)

Right- so when I call WEMBLEY an overrated gig- Im not a real fan... But you obviously can say that GDML is an awful song... I mean- some consequence here, please... Anyway, I really don't like NIN, but I love the song- don't think they'll beat Glen Hughes version, though...
I'm not the only Queen fan who thinks that 'Get Down Make Love' sucks. Many consider it a bad song, and certainly not one of Queen's best.
The Wembley gig, was great. It's arguable that it might not have been their best. but it was a great show indeed. There's a difference with an overated gig, and an overpromoted gig. Which perhaps that's what happened at Wembley, but due to the circumstances that Queen was at the top of their career in 1986 and the legendary status that represents to a lot of bands to play at Wembley stadium, that's why there was so much hype and promotion aroung the gig.
Besides, what are you nagging about when you're one of those who constantly bashes Queen for going more towards the pop/mainstream during the 80s and complaining about how bad their 80s albums are.

Read the first quote... I'm not the only fan who thinks that from HOT SPACE till MIRACLE it was much worse times for Queen... Anyway, you didn't get the point- my point was that you're giving yourself right to say that sth sucks but don't give it to the others; just because I dislike Wembley (and no- IMO it WASN'T great gig...) you said- I'm not the real fan... But when you say sth is awful- it's alright... I don't have a problem with you saying GDML is bad- fine, your opinion; but I do have a problem with lack of consequence, when you're entitled to have a strong opinion and I'm apparently not... Well, I do think that 80s and Wembley gig (just like almost the entire Magic Tour- with few exceptions) sucked, so what? i'm sure I'm not the only one...
