Well, it is not bad, some ideas are very good though I don't like those songs which sound too disco or too commercial pop... It's a matter of tastes, I believe, but anyway I keep on liking him most as a Queen member... Nothing from his solo production can reach the level of what he did with the quartet... Whatever a genius he was, four brains work better than just one!!!
:)
Albyboy
Barcelona has some excellent tracks on it. Mr Bad Guy has some terrible 80's crap songs and some nice ones. Overall, I think Freddie has the least interesting solo career (not counting The Immortals as a solo-career).
The Barcelona album is just a piece of Genius :D
I quite like Mr Bad Guy aswell. I was born to love you and Love me like theres no tommorow are great! :)
hey his solos are great.
The whole barcelona album is genius , mr bad guy , love me like theres no tomorrow , living on my own , i was born to love you , made in heaven , in my defence ,time so his solo production is also great after all
Barcelona is great, Mr Bad Guy is crap (apart from 2-3 tracks), The Freddie Mercury Album (aka The Great Pretender) is still bad, although better than Bad Guy...
I love The Solo Collection- but it's mostly because it's a great example of what the box set should look like...
Mr. Bad Guy isn't amazing, mostly because of the overuse of synths, but there are some great tracks on there, like There Must Be More To Life Than This, Love Me Like There's No Tomorrow, Made In Heaven, etc. And Barcelona's amazing. I think it definitely should receive more credit as an album.

I haven't really heard many but i think Barcelona's amazing and although Living on My Own is too pop I've grown a liking to it strangely! I think his voice's amazing wateva he's singing!
I like all is music. I've bought the solo collection (the day of its release) and there are beautiful songs we didn't know (the demos).
Freddie is a wonderful songwritter & singer.
I remember watching that 'Untold story' documentary and hearing one guy saying his solo work is the work of a musical genius. And I have to disagree on that one lol. I thin his work with the band was genius, but all alone it seems to lose some feathers. I don't like the very '80 pop sound of Mr. Bad Guy. I absolutely adore 'Time', 'In my defense' and 'Made in heavens', probably because they sound more like classic pop. 'Living on my own' makes me gnaw at my knuckles.
Barcelona is better, I love most of the songs.
I like most of his solo songs
I love Great Pretender, How can I go on, The Golden Boy, I was born to love you, Mr Bad Guy, Living on my own, In my defence
I really like freddie's solo stuff. Living on my own is great, especcially the '93 remix. The 12" of the great pretender is cool and the first verse of 'how can i go on' is also nice. Guide me home is brilliant and the Queen album made in heaven would never saw day of light without freddies solostuff.
I have to agree that the solostuff is badly produced sometimes, but the lyrics and his voice sound great to me
I love freddie solo work. Even if it is slightly different. I think he does better with queen though. His singing seems to fit with all the others playing.
I listen more to Freddie solo efforts than to Queen proper albums nowadays. It's simply Freddie without the other 3 guys,no compromises in it.
It's the sum of his carachter and caractheristics.
Frivolous and very deep and meaningnful at the same time. And what a wonderful vocals he delivered(as always).
He was very brave to take his own artistic and commercial risks, and of course he win!
Pure Genius!
I think his solowork is a bit disappointing. Of course there are some good songs (In my defense, Barcelona etc.) But I would have expected more of him. Maybe he just put all his good songs and ideas in Queen...
