Queen in Art
| ♥Killer_Queen1946♥ 25.08.2004 17:33 |
Okay, well, in an Art class today, I was drawing the word "Queen" and drawing a crown. I showed it to the Art teacher, and she said that it was not acceptable and wrong. I was so angry. And then everybody started to jump on it saying 'Yeah. Queen is a band. A bad band' and 'Yeah. Queen is a bad band 'cause they supported gays.' (We arent allowed to draw or use bands on our projects. I have no idea why!But she says Christian bands are allowed.) And I couldn't believe it! This so-called art teacher allowed Slipknot to be used in these other students projects, and she was convinced that they were a christian band, and letting them get away with that!!! And when I started to protest, she was saying that she would give me detention if I spoke another word of 'Queen'.And I also put 'Rock Royalty' and she said that was the same thing! Ans she said that all crowns would mean Queen. My god this woman is insane!!!!Now, I would like to ask, IS THIS RIGHT?!?!!?!?!?! |
| Guy 25.08.2004 17:59 |
Nope. |
| SergeantPepperDG 25.08.2004 18:03 |

That's not right at all. I hate close-minded people. |

| iGSM 25.08.2004 21:31 |
Queen is a Christian band. Why would Brian have penned Jesus or Father (God) to Son (Jesus) Yeah.. I lie. But stab this teacher...in the EYE! |
| ♥Killer_Queen1946♥ 25.08.2004 21:46 |
I just can't believe her. She said that Queen is offensive to alot of people. And that a crown is bad. "Shame on you," she said. And she is such a homophobe. So is our music teacher. She said that that governer guy, since he was gay, that 'I hope you think that is wrong', she told a class. Maconaquah Schools have way too many homophobes. Hell, the other day I heard 'Queers are gay' chanted through the halls. My goodness. And she said I could have a crown and the word "Queen" if I put a person down. "Like a Beauty pageant," she said. Yeah, I'll (try to) draw Freddie Mercury and see what she says. Knowing her she'll probably send me to the principal. Oh well. I'll take one for Queen! She even says the word "Rock 'N' Roll" is very, very offensive. Blargh!! I hate teachers! |
| iGSM 25.08.2004 23:26 |
Well old chap/chapette you should bring in some Shitknot and see how she reacts to that. Or just label them as Smile (I'm aware that Queen was not Smile) Or just draw the Red Special. |
| Goo 25.08.2004 23:36 |
Geez, that sucks! Tell her to fuck herself. |
| iGSM 25.08.2004 23:51 |
That approach...could also work. |

I live to give. |
| Sonja 26.08.2004 03:05 |
Most art teachers are cool with that. well, at least mine are. we had to build a cd cover and design and I did a Queen one also with the Queen crest and all on it (pics in the Queen art section) and got a B for it. But if she doesn't like it I wouldn't do Queen stuff anymore, whether it's right or wrong, if it affects your grade. |
| Monte: Liquorice Years 26.08.2004 04:14 |
i think your crappy teacher needs to be shot! (not meaning anything cruel, but come on! BITCH!) my art teacher (well, my teacher for next year) is a complete idiot! it wouldnt surprise me if she didnt know who Queen were! Even though my friend, Pax and I, listen to them non-stop!! literally! I LOVE QUEEN!!!!! hehehehe.... i got tickets today to see We Will Rock You! im so excited! yeah, Australias slow at getting things here, but we get them....in the end...the very end. wooooo! |
| [StArMaN] 26.08.2004 06:02 |
"Blargh!! I hate teachers!" We don't need no education - we don't need no thought control still true... |

| Mr.Jingles 26.08.2004 09:01 |
Did you ever watch the movie 'Saved'? Seems like your school is very similar to the one portrayed on this movie... perhaps even worse. |
| iGSM 26.08.2004 09:11 |
Dare I interject again but I've always wanted to draw the death robot from News of the World. It's unfortunate that I remember that I can't draw to save my life. Well I probably could...draw a 'Help me, God save me!' picture. But surely this teacher is a ponce and should be dismissed. |
| Zander05 26.08.2004 16:23 |
First off, I agree that your teacher is a bitch... But, if you want a loop hole, draw the Slightly Mad single cover (that weird monster with the tentacles) or do a cross between A Kind Of Magic and Innuendo and make some cosmic-like mural or something. Getting back to your teacher, she clearly does not understand that art is a form of expression and centers around a persons' interests or passions. Have her sorry ass fired! |
| Music Man 26.08.2004 16:54 |
You wouldn't believe how much I WISH to have certain teachers like that when I hear these stories. I would shove my opinion so far down their throats, man, and to top it all off I would have them apologizing to me the next day. Remember, everybody has superiors ;). Learn the system, manipulate the system, and enjoy the system. |
| mamamia 26.08.2004 16:54 |
I have a entire portfolio of Queen drawings that I have done in my spare time, I'm really proud of them, They are all drawn in graphite so they blend very well. I am studying art and fashion at college and I based an entire project on the King Freddie Mercury. The class thought it was fantastic and I wasvery pleased with it. You were given a word and you had to relate a music artist to that word and mine was the Gays. It was a very interesting project to undertake. Art is what you want it to be, it has be personal to you, something that you can relate to, but it also has to work and be understandable. But be creative and it is up to you how you approach it. x |
| ♥Killer_Queen1946♥ 26.08.2004 17:42 |
My God. In Art class today, I used Ibex, and when I showed it to her, she said I couldn't use it, 'cause "it sounds to much like sex". I was angry. I wish I could get her fired, but I can't. They says she's been here too long and she gets handicaped thing, and all that other stuff. I wasn't listening that well. I was too outraged. This has got to be stopped!!!! |
| Gunpowder Gelatine 26.08.2004 17:45 |
She sounds insane. Smile's worth a shot, although she probably won't allow it for some inane reason. Or just try making up a completely different name, something 'acceptable'. |
| Music Man 26.08.2004 17:45 |
What? Tenure? I told you guys that being a teacher is a steal. Being a good teacher, however, is not. But there are no benefits over being a good teacher than to being a bad teacher anymore; that has been neatly done away by the Teacher's Union. |
| Little_Queenie 26.08.2004 17:57 |
A stupid homophobic narrow minded bitch. Tell her to fuck off and wear a Queen t-shirt in school, on her class. I did the same thing, got some penlaties but it was worth it... |
| KillerQueen840 26.08.2004 19:44 |
Wow...she's some biggot....Ya it drives me insane when people behave like that...and that is when I really start to defend Queen(ofcourse I wouldn't risk detentin..)...but wow there's definately something wrong there...and to think she wouldn't let you cos it's not Christian... I was brought up that Christians are suppose to respect everyone...even if they are different... |
| ♥Killer_Queen1946♥ 26.08.2004 20:36 |
I know. Well, I just came back from our school's open house, and they were playing some music(It was Hawaiian day. They mostly played Beach Boys) and I asked the guy if he would play Queen, and he said Sure! He's a Queen fan too! And I asked him to play Fat Bottomed Girls and Killer Queen, and my art teacher, Mrs. Caraco, was standing right next to the speaker talking to some parent, and the line, "Aw, won't you take me home tonight!" came on, and she got blown away literally 2 ft!(Mayeb just shocked, but whatever!!) It was awesome. My friend Arianna, a Queen fan, saw this and also agreed that she is a bitch, and we laughed about it. We saw her checking her ears when we left. I'm sorry if that sounded cruel, but she deserved it! And on while we were driving out of the parking lot, we yelled "THAT'S WHAT YOU GET WHEN YOU MESS WITH QUEEN!!!" That was by far the most awesome thing that ever happened to me in school.....well, technically AFTER school, but oh well. Oh, and some of the teachers started to sing with Fat Bottomed Girls and Killer Queen. Also awesome. But I am still gonna press on with this matter about the crown.Wish me luck! (And I will wear my Queen shirt tomorrow!) |
| Music Man 26.08.2004 20:56 |
Good for you, you better! Now if you get a bad grade you have an excuse. It would also make for a great college essay later in life. |
| Queenrocks4579 27.08.2004 00:02 |
Holy Shit its like deja vue. I was in home-ec class and i was drawing the word queen with a crown and my friend ashli was criticising me. But thats ok because she ghetto and does like another one bites the dust. I usually find that more of the boys in my grade like queen. I think that more of the newer generation is getting into older rock. Personally i think queen was a kick ass band and they were not a gay band their lead singer was just gay and i think more people are seeing that now. I mean look a judas priest there as gay as queen and when i say that i mean there not a gay band. But hey your teacher is a bitch but hey dont listen to the other kids in your class either because they just dont realize how many fans queen have and how much there fans love them. I mean there is no other band in history that when the lead singer dies the remaining memebers did so much for there front man after death for the fans. |
| Queenrocks4579 27.08.2004 00:12 |
oh hey if you really want to piss her off you could draw the picture you wanted at home and use that special paper that you can buy for printing out iron ons and print out your pic on a shirt and wear it during her class. God what a fuckin bitch... well you know what you did say she was old maybe she just needs to get laid. |
| VGB 27.08.2004 02:07 |
haha, my little brother went to a private christian school I remember all the stories he came home with, they wouldn't let him put band stickers in his locker, so he would make video projects for class and use the music in the background! As another side not I thought was funny was the school's mascot was "the crusaders" and when my little brother asked a kid who the crusaders were (he knew becasue he saw a history channel show about it), the kid said "they spread God's word around the holy land" and my little brother asked if he knew how and the kid said no. hahaha But a lot of shit can go on at privatized school (is that what you go to?) and a lot of the people who attend them and teach at them are misinformed hypocirtes who don't want to accpet or even listen to anyone else's point of view, what would be a great thing to do is what someone else mentioned, use the system against itself, play by their rules but do it YOUR way...that will really piss them off. thats all the advice I can offer |
| iGSM 27.08.2004 02:12 |
I went to a private school..we got treated alright. The teachers were members of the N.S.D.A.P sometimes but that didn't worry me 'cause I was a facist fighter :) |
| ♥Killer_Queen1946♥ 27.08.2004 07:53 |
No. I go to public school. Maconaquah Schools. Our mascot is the braves. Well, I just wanted to type or check out this post for new advice before I left for school. I got my Queen shirt on and "offensive" paper in hand. Only 8 more minutes before I make this teacher's life a living hell. Well, more anyway. Wish me luck! |
| Music Man 27.08.2004 08:27 |
Hey, my school's mascot is the braves. Anyway, if you give her the URL of this thread, I'm sure she'll be really happy as well. Or advertise it throughout the halls. |
| KillerQueen840 27.08.2004 13:14 |
I'm from a private Christian school and I get away with talking about Queen all the time and reading Queen books during break. I guess I got lucky! ;) |
| Music Man 27.08.2004 14:29 |
Or unlucky; there's no excitement in a life without such fun tribulations. |
| ♥Killer_Queen1946♥ 27.08.2004 17:23 |
Well, I just came back from school. I wore my Queen shirt, and after 5 minutes, she noticed this and sent me to the principals office. Being the lawn gnome he is, he gave me a shortform. I can't beleive this!!! Just because a shirt! And I came back into the class, and she said, "I hope you know that shirt is very offensive to me" and I just ignored her. Later, after I was drawing the word 'Smile' and 'Wreckage' and 'Larry Lurex', she said that Larry Lurex was a dumb name and I couldnt use it! Just because she said it was dumb, doesnt mean it is! And it's not like this project is going to her house! She said if I wanted a C average, I am supposed to draw a person. She gave me ideas. Great ideas by the way*sarcastic*:Britney Spears, Christina Aguilara, Jessica Simpson, and Anna Nicole Smith!! My god. This woman doesnt get outside much to know that these all are whores! Well, at least I don't have to go to her class for 2 days. |
| KillerQueen840 27.08.2004 17:36 |
Well it's good to hear you're not falling under her wrath. Too bad you got the slip...but it must feel good fighting for a good cause! :) |
| SergeantPepperDG 27.08.2004 17:56 |
Maybe you could consider legal action? |
| Kikyo 27.08.2004 17:59 |
Your teacher sounds like a Itchba to me! Love Kikyo:) |
| ♥Killer_Queen1946♥ 27.08.2004 18:22 |
Yes. It feels awesome fighting for Queen. Yeah! :) And Queen is what gets me by, day after day. :) |
| Music Man 27.08.2004 18:40 |
You always have to fight, but in the end it's all worth it. What you really need to do now is get the community to back you. Write to your papers, magazines, etc. Make this teacher incur all the harrassment that you have had to struggle through. Also, as previously mentioned, legal action is always a great idea! Don't mention this to our anti-trial lawyer friends, though. |
| KillerQueen840 27.08.2004 18:50 |
Ya...get people to sign a petition or something... But I just thought of this: You should definately bring up something about the first admendemt freedom of speech or something (I know this is safe to say cos I check your profile and you live in the U.S. Like write a letter to the principal about your freedom of speech or some other higher authority, even better. This defiantely has to be some kind of offense to your rights! |

As far as the world cares, you are just another kid. There are too many age-based prejudices in this world. Adults demand so much more respect than they deserve because the year on their date of birth is lower. |
| KillerQueen840 27.08.2004 19:50 |
Well if you get the majority of the school to sign it, it might work...but I know the chances of that are incredibly slim....I know my cousin did that once...I don't know if it worked though..heh heh |

We had some controversy at my old high school when students were required to go to pep assemblies (because no one was going to them!!) and if you were caught skipping out of them or driving off they'd write down your license plate and call the police or give you detention...although it wasn't right or fair, there would have been no way to get out of it without spending a lot of money on a lawyer or something, in the end it was probably funner to go to the pep assemblies and make fun of everyone in all their fleeting glory anyway... |
| ♥Killer_Queen1946♥ 27.08.2004 20:43 |
Well...I could get the science teacher, Mr. Sinnamon, to sign. He loves Queen. And the language arts teacher, Mrs. Resler, she's a Queen fan too! And they are somewhat alot of teachers, library teachers, etc. that love Queen 'cause they were alive to witness them in action! And then there's my family, my mom, who got me started in Queen.....*dreams...*,my brother, agh! So many people! And Dan-the-Man next door loves Queen! I think I've got a petition started, my dears! How many people would be appropriate for this situation? As many as possible, I think. Woah....and no, I couldn't turn the petition in to the principal, because he's a Beach Boy fan. I asked him if he liked Queen before, and he asked 'Who?' That's why I don't have school spirit........ |
| Queenrocks4579 27.08.2004 23:24 |
My school mascot is the braves too |
| Mitti 28.08.2004 09:23 |
You go girl! You can 'win' this, you've got at least 20 Queenfans on-line and so many around you to support you! I just followed this topic (like I do most of the time) but I was thinking you might like to hear how many people agree with you... Good luck! (excuse my for my bad English...) |
| queen_forever_87 28.08.2004 09:58 |
I really think you're absolutely right about the petition... we all support you... all I want to say is already said before...so I wont say it again... Just know that we're here...we support you... and if there's nothing left.... there's always Queen... and it's fans.... they'll help you through!!! And your teacher should really get the hell out of there.... what a f*cking bitch... Hey... maybe you can send brian an e-mail... on his personal site... see what he says... |
| breanna902000 28.08.2004 15:18 |
omg how fucking stupied is your art teacher!? she sounds like shes prejudice! and your music teachers sounds like an evil bitch , all those who hate Queen and call them fags , DEATH to you! |
| Mitti 28.08.2004 15:34 |
Great idea queen_forever! And if you're going to send an e-mail and he sends one back, please let us know ;) |

| Brianmay1975 29.08.2004 12:06 |
Good job, Killer_Queen1946! And good luck too! We're all supporting you... You know, I talked to my father, who is a Christian, and said your teacher is an idiot and he'd do the same. So you've got support even here, in far away Romania! |
| Music Man 29.08.2004 15:47 |
And like I said, one adult to sign and back you is worth twenty minors. And please do tell what Brian says! |
| KillerQueen840 29.08.2004 17:33 |
Ya.. I'm dying to find out what he says too! |
| KillerQueen840 29.08.2004 17:34 |
Oh yes! Also... Whatever Brian writes put it on the petition if it's alright with him!!!! That should really get her going!!!!!!!! |
| ♥Killer_Queen1946♥ 29.08.2004 17:46 |
ARGH!! It won't let me write my letter! I went to BrianMay.com, and letters, and then Brian's Letters, and when I clicked that, it took me to Yahoo! Mail thing, and I typed in my address and password, and it said that it was invalid! My damn computer won't let me send it!!! Man! This sucks! |
| KillerQueen840 29.08.2004 17:55 |
Try one of your friends computers or something..... That really bites... Your petition could even had started with his post on it as an opening thing...errr....that would've been gold. |

| Brianmay1975 30.08.2004 05:22 |
KillerQueen, I tried to write to Brian for his birthday and I typed the Happy birthday thing in boldface and colours. And my Yahoo mail sentit back to me, stating that the recipient wasn't able to receive it, due to his scanning preferences. Didn't know what that meant, but I wrote it all again, without colours, boldface or any stylish thing... and, this time, it worked! So, if you used boldface or colours, if you underlined any word, Brian's mailbox won't receive it... Hope it helps, dunno if that's the problem. You could also use an I-cafe to send your mail... |
| KillerQueen840 30.08.2004 10:08 |
Darn... I guess my birthday message never got sent to Brian...lol.. |
