The Mini-LP style CDs from Japan were released in Europe today. I pre-ordered all 16 (15 studio albums, but there are 2 versions of Made In Heaven) from link
They arrived today, but I only received (and was charged for) 15. There was only 1 version of Made In Heaven (the sunset/yellow one). I phoned them to find out what happened to the other (blue/sunrise) one, and they said EMI hadn't confirmed that it would be released here. That may explain why I'd only seen 1 version on other sites such as eil.com (they are charging nearly £100 more than Keymailorder for the set). Shame they couldn't have put a note in the box with the CDs, or update their site to say this.
No changes have been made for the European release - they are the Japanese CDs.
I put some photos at link - and I may put some more photos there when I start opening them...it seems a shame to open them and spoil them, but I do want to find out what the 2001 remasters sound like.
I wasn't sure if they re-sealed as I haven't opened any of them yet :)
Edit: You're right. But I'll still find some way of damaging them as soon as I start opening the packaging!
Wish I'd read this post before I posted at QOL. LOL. Here's what I wrote there:
Thanks for sharing the info and pics. I have all but the first three, and the blue MIH. (I'm buying them in reverse order).
I'm curious.. Brian's site says there's supposed to be an 8-page booklet with 'Jazz'. Did you get one? And do they have the huge foldout lyric inserts? I assume they do.. they've even got the obi strips.
Your cat is beautiful. Does it have only one eye or am I imagining things?
Oh, and don't worry about opening them (just saw that part)... those sleeves are recloseable.. just pull them gently where you find a flap. I use a different size of those sleeves for my regular CDs, they're nice to have.
I just replied on QOL :)
But for the benefit of those who don't go there...
They do have the foldout lyrics inserts (Japanese lyrics, that is). I just looked inside Jazz - I don't see a booklet in there. There's the Bicycle Race poster, the lyrics sheet and what looks like a paper sleeve for the CD (picture of the band on the front, black on the back).
And my cat does have one eye. He got hit by something (assuming it was a car or van) back in October and was pretty badly hurt...lost an eye, had a broken jaw and his tongue was damaged. Luckily the damage wasn't too bad and he's pretty much back to normal now - apart from looking slightly different and making a lot more mess when he eats!
Edit: Just uploaded more photos.
Your cat is a miracle!! And a survivor. He is lucky to have adopted you as an owner!
I'd love to get the set but I have so much Queen stuff now it's forcing me to build bookshelves and I'm running out of room!!!
