Hi all...a strange, unexplained thing has recently happened to me...after about 7 or 8 years of having a certifiable, unshakeable favorite Queen song, one which I figured would hold my top spot for life, another little gem has gradually went from not being on my top ten list to reigning supreme...Actually, it's the second time this has happened.
For the first five or 6 years of being a diehard Queen fan, It's Late was my all time fave. Then, for some unexplainable reason, John's little nugget In Only Seven Days was my prized song. This lasted for almost a decade.
Over the past few months, whether it was from the two live versions on the Wembley DVD (with the Highlander version on the photo montage added in), or my sudden notice in the uplifting lyrics, A Kind of Magic has become the song I find myself reaching for. I always liked, of course, all these years, but just considered it a nice pop super hit. But now I cannot get enough of it.
So now, as of April 2004, my new top three list reads as such: 1- A Kind of Magic
2- In Only Seven Days
3- Breakthru
Enough of my blabbering. I was just wonderin' if this has ever happened to any of you guys. You know, you have always singled out one song as your favorite, then suddenly you lose that lovin' feeling, and a new one gradually wins your heart. Thanks for indulging my ramblings!
Nope, my favorite song changes from day to day. Every single song Billy Joel has ever written has been, for a time, my favorite song. Most Queen songs have too.
I think it has something to do with growing older and experiencing more of life. A plausible theory as chemical changes in our body can make these things happen.
Peace,
Adam.
Definitely happens, although I think my favourite is probably set in stone as Leroy Brown, there are certain songs that I reach for first when I fancy listening to something good, and it changes from time to time. The live version of Magic is ace, as is the studio version so I can see why that would top your list. I also have been known to find solace in It's Late, but I had a spell with Dreamer's Ball, Made In Heaven, Son and Daughter, Doin' Alright, All Dead All Dead and even Need Your Loving Tonight, so it's natural and to be embraced, I would say!!
Agree with the Billy Joel thing, don't know about every song he's done, (Still Rock n Roll to me is a bit crap I think) but his good ones are superb.
My favorite song at this moment has nothing to do with Queen! It's "Until The Night" from Billy Joel's "52nd Street" album. I love that album..... *drools at the splendor of 52nd Street*
*I meant to put that in my last post, Sorry!*
My favourite Queen song changes literally all the time. I can't choose at the moment.
It always used to be Killer Queen, becuase it was the first song that got me into the band (seeing them on Top of the Pops 2 a couple of years ago). But now, I can never seem to make my mind up.
I always tire of songs after a while.
My favorite changes all the time, but lately I've been finding myself going for my "Innuendo" CD a lot. Tomorrow it will probably be something different, though.
