It seems that with any and every AVI file I download and watch, the visual playback is always slower than the audio.
For example, if a clip is meant to be 10 seconds long, the file info will show that it's 10 seconds long, the audio will play at the right speed and last for 10 seconds, but the video will play at a reduced speed, and last for, say, 25 seconds (although the video speed does seem to vary from less than half-speed to nearly full-speed; the nearly full-speed is the most irritating...).
I've got 2 versions of DivX player, and have downloaded all the codecs I can find, yet I always get this problem.
Any of you buffs know where I'm going wrong?
Was this problem allways with your avi files or just now came and before was everything allright?
I'd say you dont have the right codecs anyway.
I have a program that identifies the right audio and video codecs of each video, so maybe then you'll see what you need. I could sent it, but only tommorow.
I seem to remember a time before I had to format my harddrive when AVIs worked fine, but at that point there weren't really many AVI files I was watching.
Is it possible that having too many codecs causes a conflict? Would I better off just getting rid of everything Divx/AVI thing I've downloaded and just starting again, or is most likely to be that I seem to have every codec I need except the right one?
Cheers for the offer Lawyeris. Add me to your MSN messenger if you've got it. My address is in my profile.

Both of your mentioned possible reasons could be: 1) a conflict or 2) you lack the right one. Before you'll get the program for determining the right one, you can try uninstall everything you've installed and then watch, are things any better?
Cheers for the help guys, it's appreciated.
Barry, would me having Xvid be a reason for the AVIs NOT to work, or do you think having it would help?
Thinking about it, I think I did have Xvid installed before my harddrive reformat, and as I said, things seemed to work better then.
Lawyeris; if the programme you're gonna send me is the same as on the link Barry provided (I'll have to check it later/tomorrow, as I'm at work now), don't bother sending it to me (obviously). If it's different, go right ahead.
