| rhapsody__87 13.04.2004 17:21 |
Just browsing around the Freddie portion of the Pictures on this site... When was this picture taken? It's Freddie & Annie Lennox: link And then these-- were they taken from a personal collection? 1) link 2) link 3) link Yeah... I have a LOT of time on my hands. =] |
| Daburcor? 13.04.2004 17:27 |
I dunno! :p |
| rhapsody__87 13.04.2004 17:30 |
Why thank you! You changed your username didn't you? ... So who are you?! Haha |
| MexQueenFM 13.04.2004 17:33 |
I think the first one is after the 90 awards Queen's 20th anniversary, i may be wrong though |
| rhapsody__87 13.04.2004 17:37 |
Mex, hello there old pal... that's what I THOUGHT but Freddie looked pretty damn good in that picture, and at the Brit Awards, he looked like shite... did you ever see that VH1 special on World AIDS Day (AIDS: A Pop Culture History)? Well, they had film of Freddie that day in the car and he looked like hell and it scared me. That picture doesn't scare me. :-[ |
| MexQueenFM 13.04.2004 17:58 |
hello there young good looking thing you are correct, he looks more like the era of the Great Pretender video, i've seen that pic before, but can't remember where it was taken from |
| Janet 13.04.2004 18:01 |
I don't know about the first one, but the final three are taken from Jim Hutton's book, Mercury and Me. |
| rhapsody__87 13.04.2004 18:06 |
Mex, I know I'm good looking... don't have to remind me ;) Janet-- thanks! I can't find the book anywhere and I'm a bit wary of ebay because I'm actually having a bad experience right now with someone who I bought DVDs from... queencollector.com. Not answering my emails. :( |
| MexQueenFM 13.04.2004 18:14 |
"Mex, I know I'm good looking... don't have to remind me ;)" hmm, cocky!! it doesn't count if your parents told you you are good looking |
| rhapsody__87 13.04.2004 18:15 |
Ah, I never believe them anyway... I just KNOW :-P |
| MexQueenFM 13.04.2004 18:21 |
"Ah, I never believe them anyway... I just KNOW :-P" well, i ain't gonna lie, you look good but it might be the beer googles |
| rhapsody__87 13.04.2004 18:23 |
What is this... talk of beer and then a quote about being drunk in your sig? It's AA for you, my friend. |
| MexQueenFM 13.04.2004 18:27 |
"What is this... talk of beer and then a quote about being drunk in your sig? It's AA for you, my friend" It's actually Tequila, and don't worry, I don't need AA, I know my limitations, only a bottle a day |
| rhapsody__87 13.04.2004 18:29 |
Alright alright... I'm not one for drinking so I don't know much about it! |
| Penis - Vagina 13.04.2004 18:46 |
I should know the Annie Lennox pic, being a huge fan of hers but I can't say exactly. Her hairstyle suggests 1987 but Freddie looks too thin for 87 so I dunno. But here are the captions from 'Mercury And Me' for the other three. They are color in the book and cropped more than these, so they aren't scanned from there but are the same pictures: 1. Barbara Valentin and Freddie the night he wrote the song 'Delilah', dedicated to his favourite cat. 2. Freddie's last Christmas, 1990, with Joe and his bird. 3. For Mary's birthday in 1990 Freddie cooked up a feline surprise. According to the book, 'Delilah' was written in Montreux in 1990, but I can't find a specific date mentioned nearby except it was between Mary's son Richard being born and Joe Fennelli's birthday. So all three of those are from 1990. Interestingly, 'A Winter's Tale' was written before 'Delilah' :) |
| rhapsody__87 13.04.2004 18:54 |
Thanks! A lot of those songs from MIH make me very sad... especially "A Winter's Tale". Maybe Annie Lennox decided to revert back to an old hair style? Who knows lol |
| Penetration_Guru 13.04.2004 19:20 |
The Annie Lennox one is definitely 87/88 - that's a GP style jacket he's wearing, plus he hasn't lost the weight he'd lost by 1990, and hasn't grown the Miracle beard. Maybe his birthday in Ibiza 87? |
| Mayboy 13.04.2004 19:44 |
I was going to let u know but it appears DF has stolen my thunder ;) the first one though looks like one of the after party pics at the Britts 1990 |

"Alright alright... I'm not one for drinking so I don't know much about it! " Good for you Erica :) |

"I'm a bit wary of ebay because I'm actually having a bad experience right now with someone who I bought DVDs from... queencollector.com. Not answering my emails. :(" He has amazing stuff, but a lot of the time, he doesn't answer email for weeks. Don't let this one experience sway you from Ebay... it's a really great place! |
| rhapsody__87 14.04.2004 16:09 |
"He has amazing stuff, but a lot of the time, he doesn't answer email for weeks." Well, okay... here's my situation: Back in early Feb., I ordered some DVD's and got them but one was to arrive in March. I ordered VH1 Legends which was to be transferred onto DVD for me. A few emails are passed back and forth and he says that the DVD will be ready March 15th. That passes, and I wait about 2 weeks and email him. No response. Two more emails... no responses. I don't get it. I paid him... I'd like to have my DVD as I have been waiting for a month. Ergh. |
| Penis - Vagina 14.04.2004 17:48 |
I should keep my mouth shut, but yeah, from what I've witnessed that guy is not too good with communication, seems to care more about making as much money as possible than he does for helping fellow fans, and some of his rarer stuff starts out with prices way too high. As for the book, I got it off Ebay a couple months ago for only about $5 U.S. Just a paperback version which is far from mint condition, but I only wanted to read it, not 'collect' it :) The Peter Freestone book is much easilier available in America. I checked it out from a local library.. and I'm in Kansas. |
| rhapsody__87 14.04.2004 18:50 |
Crap. I suppose this means the chances of me getting my DVD are slim to none? He even threw in a free DVD for me that I wanted (The Untold Story) but I just want the one I paid for. And my dad's pretty miffed... after all, it's his money that paid for these. They were part of my birthday present! I've read the Peter Freestone book so many times-- I actually read it in parts that I feel like. Just read some before... but which book is better? |
| Penis - Vagina 14.04.2004 22:10 |
Well it looks like he's got a 99.6% positive feedback so I wouldn't think he'd do this on purpose. I don't know. Just keep trying to contact him, or give him negative feedback, and/or try to get your money back somehow depending on how you paid. Which book is better? It's hard to say. Freestone's covers a longer period of time, but it's divided into sections and doesn't stay chronological which annoyed me a bit. Hutton's book starts in like 1983 but it is chronological. They both have their advantages. |
| The Real Wizard 15.04.2004 00:19 |
One thing about Trancer is that he will eventually get back to you! Wait a little while longer before leaving negative feedback. |
| rhapsody__87 15.04.2004 16:55 |
Alright alright... I just might sound a bit nuts because my dad asks me everyday if I heard back from him. I trust your opinions though, so thank you!! :-) |
| The Real Wizard 16.04.2004 00:18 |
No prob... best of luck to you! |
| runy 16.04.2004 04:00 |
Well, I really don't know when these pics where taken, but freddie looks really very nice in them. And I've got a question, in the first pic, where he's with barbara valentine...is she just with slips? I looked deeper into the pic and noticed that she is not wearing any long tight trousers...so she must be JUST with pants... ??? |
| rhapsody__87 16.04.2004 15:20 |
Awww yay he wrote back. The guy sending him the master disc was very slow... but I'm still going to get it. Phew! |
| Penis - Vagina 16.04.2004 15:40 |
They're just really tight white pants. Pants in this case meaning trousers, not the British 'pants' meaning underwear. Her legs aren't that pale :) In the colour version in the book, they're clearly tight white.. well, slacks.. how's that? Maybe some of those polyester old-lady kind. And hopefully this is the last time I'll ever have to discuss female pants. |
| rhapsody__87 16.04.2004 21:27 |
Deacon Fan (s-r) it's perfectly fine to love fashion. In fact, it's great... so don't you worry. Keep talking about clothes-- it's fun! :D |
| rhapsody__87 09.05.2004 18:00 |
Wow, dug my old post up from the dead. Anyway speaking of the Brit Awards since we mentioned it in here... I finished my download of Queen's part in the Brit Awards 90 and Freddie looked like hell (of course) but I thought it was great of him to still be able to walk out on stage in his condition, you know? Brave, very brave. God I love writing dumb comments. :P |
| Penis - Vagina 09.05.2004 18:25 |
So did you ever get your Legends DVD? :) I agree it was very brave of Freddie to appear there. Actually everything he did from the time he knew he was sick shows bravery to me. He could have easily retired but instead he kept doing as much as he could for as long as he could. |
| rhapsody__87 09.05.2004 18:28 |
Ugh GOD no I asked for a refund of my DVD. The guy is still waiting for the master tape from this other guy and it's been HOW LONG? K, thanks. I'm done with waiting so yeah. But with Freddie-- it was brave. Honestly, I couldn't ever see him retiring, even if he were still alive because he'd keep plugging away. And when they announced Queen to come out at the Brits, he had the CUTEST little smile on his face. Aww, Freddie! :-) |

yeah the 1st circa barcelona 87-88 - ish the others are 1990.... but that book mercury & me should be burnt in hell |
| rhapsody__87 09.05.2004 19:18 |
"but that book mercury & me should be burnt in hell" How come? |
| April Lady 10.05.2004 04:16 |
The first one is from the time of the 'Great Pretender'. Not long after he shaved the moustache off. |

the reason the book should be burnt in hell, cos when freddie died suddenly all these books came out of nowhere the only angle that wasnt covered was the hiv/aids angle. You know the shock factor. I personally didnt want to read about how freddie would fall of the toilet etc... (when the book 1st came out). I personally like to remember Freddie at his peak at Wembley & Knebworth. We all know how brave the man was, but somethings should have remained private ie his personal suffering in those last two years. Its like i wouldnt want to read about how Mark Chapman felt when he shot John Lennon, its just not my idea of a coffee table book |
| rhapsody__87 10.05.2004 15:42 |
You have a good point-- it would make me too sad to read about Freddie falling and such. Of course I would like to know what his life was like then but you're right, taking it into the bathroom is a bit much. I'm still curious about what's in the book so I might go read it one day anyway. |
