I got an official setlist, and met the band afterward, as I purchased a (very expensive) platinum seat in the first row. I was 5 feet away from master guitarist John Petrucci for the entire show. Quite a night it was!
This performance has left me in full confidence that Dream Theater is the greatest band in the world. Their technical brilliance and overall musicality has not been matched to date, and I want to see the day when it is matched and exceeded by another group of musicians. It will surely be a great day, if it does come.
And no posts are welcome from the musically faint of heart. I want to hear nothing from any Stepfords or anti-virtuosos about how proficient musicians cannot have quality music. Cuz they can. All hail Dream Theater! (and all others can live in unfortunate ignorance)
I saw Dream Theater in January at Hammersmith - they were awesome. They are without doubt the best band I have seen in a very long time........mind you, I can't wait to see Rush in September- -it's been a long time since they visited these shores.
Ah, then I've got the bootleg of that show :)
In Rotterdam we were pleased with One of these days....
by Pink Floyd. Excellent performance, with Pink Floyd "playing" on the video screen!
Was also at Hammersmith- f**cking amazing night- the best show I've ever seen in my life. And the setlist was completely different, they played "Trial of Tears", "Honour Thy Father", "Metropolis" and "The Great Debate"
Dream fucking theater??...lame! They should go back to their day jobs of showing off to 14 year olds at the local long and mcquade.
Fuck technical playing...it's boring. I mean it's good to practice but who cares if a guy hits every single note perfectly.
<>
well it has come...and it's called the David Letterman band.
You're lame and pathetic... but you sing in a REAL band and you record in REAL studios so what do we know... even if maybe we're also musicians...
<>
No, it's obviously better to listen to someone singing off the key or missing a cue... And it's not only about the technique, you obviously missed the whole point...
Oh fenderek...shut up! It's called freedom of expression. I don't have to like the same lame band as you.
Do you think you can get your nose any further up Guitar Heros ass? Maybe not.
Stop getting personal with me...i'm not the one who started making personal attacks on here. That was Guitar Hero.
"Stop getting personal with me...i'm not the one who started making personal attacks on here. That was Guitar Hero."
And of course I wasn't provoked in the least.
Man, you're what we call a deep down angry person. At least you're letting it all out on a noticeboard, and not in the streets.
But again, there are no guarantees that you aren't doing that, either.
<>
Express your views with SOME respect and things will be fine; And what are you trying to say with the second sentence...? That you like different lame band...?
<>
And that's how you make a point. Nice. Very intelligent. It's third "point" you're making by insulting someone else or praising yourself (the "I play in REAL studios blah blah blah" reamark). Making friends, aren't you...?
Does anyone have some good quality bootlegs from their European Tour? I allready have the excellent sounding Madrid show (radio broadcast). But I'm looking for more shows, especially the Rotterdam, Ahoy show. If anyone can provide me with any information, please do so.

Dream Theater is FANTASTIC! I have liked them for a very long time. Alas I have never seen them in concert, but I hope to. They kind of remind me of Queensryche in a way, but better.
Glad you enjoyed the show Bob.
How were they to talk to?
