HI everyone
AS you may have heard, Bob Geldof has sued the guy who was selling the Live Aid DVD's on Ebay. Well Rien also had the video on his site but ever since that we heard about the DVD he has taken it off his site.
I don't it may sound stupid but I couldn't stop myself from not saying it.
If it's true, It's fucking funny.
What's so funny about it ? I wouldn't be to keen either if Bob Geldof is hunting down people.... Of course Rien wasn't making money of it, but still....
I know It's horrible that Bob is doing this. But why the hell doesn't he release the freaken DVD? He is keeping the video out of market like it's something personal. It's just a concert.
It was interesting for that Rien also took it off because he thought he might get sued.
I don't think it's up to Bob Geldof. The rights to the concert are probably held by the BBC and the artists who appeared at Live Aid.
If it is ever released it will probably be next year to coincide with the 20th anniversary.
fatty.
"It was interesting for that Rien also took it off because he thought he might get sued."
He didn't say that was the reason for taking it off his site.
Hey people... why not just asking me!
Believe me, it was sheer coincidence that I took the Live Aid footage off my site just after Bob Geldof had someone sued. I have a download limit of 21GB a month and 500MB diskspace. Every 16th of the month a new period starts (concerning the 21GB download) and in the 2 days following the availability of Live Aid on my site (the size of the file is 80MB)the download was 5GB every day.... So in two days 10GB was "sucked" away and 16GB was used... With 10 more days to go the remaining 5GB would be insufficient and my site would be closed down. Perhaps tomorrow I will shut down the download page again. (then I know what has been used uptil now).
At the bottom of my menu page and on the mp3 and video pages you'll find a bravenet counter. This counts every unique visitor, so you can all see how many unique visitors my site had over the last 7 days.
So... I removed the file because of preventing my site being closed down for a while.
Sure I've thought about Bob Geldof's action. But I'm not selling anything, there's no profit for me in this. My website is only costing me money. And I believe the quality of what I'm offering from a 19-year-old tape cannot compete with DVD.
I believe that many out there have this on videotape already. Mr. Geldof should perhaps use his time and knighthood to release Live Aid properly on DVD.
"I know It's horrible that Bob is doing this."
It is..? If there is any chance for this to be released (Doubtful) then obviously protecting it from being bootleged in the way it was, is a good thing. Not a bad thing.
And if you've seen how Bob is about Live Aid, you'll understand why he's done what he has. It's his baby.
Strange how some get annoyed about someone stealing a Queen sample for a song - but don't feel the same when this concert is being bootleged like it was.
"It's just a concert."
I'd like to hear what others think about this comment...
Peace,
Adam.
What Bob Geldof has done in 1985 was immense. Perhaps this was the first time a thing like this happened. And I too believe he has his heart and soul in this project.
Someone mentioned that the complete concert is shown on tv this year or so in the US? What will be the use of releasing it on DVD then?
Perhaps he'll take advantage of indeed the 20th birthday of Live Aid next year.
It was sarcasm. As usual, nothing concerning Queen will be played on TV in the USA.
Most people who obtain a lower quality bootleg, will get the official release (if it ever happens). Why wait for a music industry that promises, but ultimately refuses to sell niche product.
