It seems that some recordings of Brian May and Black Sabbath members Ozzy Osbourne and Tony Iommi (i.e. Quartz) will be re-released. link
Does anybody know Brians role on this piece of music? And is it any good?
NO: he means this. (I have cut this from my other reply!) link
This news comes from: Long-Lost QUARTZ Album Featuring TONY IOMMI, OZZY OSBOURNE (and Brian May) is to be Reissued - Jan. 1, 2004
Sanctuary Records will re-issue the debut album from Birmingham heavy metal band QUARTZ in early 2004. Originally issued on Jet Records in 1977, the album was produced by BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi and features guest appearances by Ozzy Osbourne and QUEEN guitarist Brian May.
It would not only be the SABBATH duo that featured on the record. Tony's friend Brian May of QUEEN fame was invited down to the recording studio. The man would get to add a splash of that famous hand made guitar onto the track "Circles", once more featuring a certain Mr. Ozzy Osbourne on backing vocals.
"Circles" inexplicably never made the album, only appearing as the B side to the subsequent "Stoking The Fires Of Hell" single.
The Sanctuary re-release features many bonus tracks, including "Circles".
As all stated above this was due to legalities more than any clandestine reason.
Ofcourse, other well known tracks like Sideway Look: "Bullet Proof Heart" or Errol Brown's "This Is Your Time" (recorded with John Deacon) remain unreleased.
Hmmm... very strange to say the least... I used to be (and still am) a big Sabbath and Ozzy-fan but I never heard of this. Also I find it pretty strange that Brian's guest appearance has never been mentioned anywhere else, though there are lists of guestappearances that are approved by Brian himself. Did everybody forget about this? Or is this just information that is incorrect? Just wondering, because there are some more non-correct statements in the article. (Geoff Nichols is NOT a guitarist but a keyboardplayer, for instance, and he did not join Sabbath in 1979)
