Form the first time that i heard Evaescence songs, I love them and one of the main reason is that they sound a little bit like Queen. unlike other rock bands that today are here in USA,which are just bullshits and just make irritating sounds out of their guitars, this band uses both piano and guitar in their songs and they really sound like Queen and I am looking forward to hear their next album. i wanna know if you guys feel the same? |
Mr Coolest Cat 11.12.2003 14:09 |
Like the songs i've heard, sound like Queen, i'm not sure. |
Wayne Gretzky 11.12.2003 14:10 |
They are not bad at all, but I think Darkness sound more like Queen. |
[StArMaN] 11.12.2003 14:11 |
Piano, strings arrangements and long black hair are trademark of gothic influenced music. |
geeksandgeeks 11.12.2003 15:57 |
Don't like Evanescence, and don't quite see how they'd remind one of Queen. But to each h(er)is own, I guess. |
deleted user 11.12.2003 16:58 |
Yep!I like them! Nope! They don't remind me Queen at all. (Piano is not the element that Queen were recognized for.Every little crap band may use piano. Moreover even if the songs are good they lack the style variety that Queen had.Evanescence have only a couple of styles to show.) |
Liquid Scream 11.12.2003 18:17 |
I don't get this The Darkness sound like Queen thing!??! Have people listened to Permission to Land or are they going by the story how they got together? I don't see it! Oh wait it must be the bass players stache, cause the vocals and music don't sound like Queen. And no I don't hate the Darkness, I quite like them! |
Mr.Jingles 11.12.2003 18:51 |
Love Evanescence. I don't find the resemblance to Queen so much. Amy Lee is well known for being influenced by Tori Amos and Meat Loaf, and I guess that's what shows on her music. Don't know for sure if she listens Queen. I don't really get what's so similar between Queen and The Darkness. However, I'd think of The Darkeness more like a blend of AC/DC, Queen, and Styx. |
Saffron Caribou 11.12.2003 19:08 |
Evancessence or whatever and Queen? Sound alike? Huh? Have I missed something? The Darkness, influenced by Queen and all the other glam/stadium rock bands of the 70's and 80's. |
Virtuoso 11.12.2003 19:17 |
Both bands are ridiculously bad(The Darkness and Evanescence). |
dragonzflame 12.12.2003 03:52 |
Evanescence do not even remotely, in even the wildest drug-induced fleeting dream, sound like Queen. |
iGSM 12.12.2003 04:43 |
Well doesn't Evanescence 'ave a tart for a lead singer? If that's the case...GUBS!> |
siljeoen 12.12.2003 05:34 |
hmm..i don't like em,-too "new-metal" for my taste..-but The Darkness!! |
Dances With Freddie 12.12.2003 05:38 |
guitar! |
Banquo 13.12.2003 01:23 |
Evanescence or however its spelt are shite on toast. |
Sonja 13.12.2003 04:23 |
I think that neither the Darkness nor Evanescence sound like Queen. The Darkness are fantastic but Evanescence I don't like.... |
geeksandgeeks 13.12.2003 11:10 |
I will acquire some respect for Evanescence if they leave Wind-up Records and never work with Paul McCoy again. Did not notice any similarities to Queen. Did notice similarities to a strange mix of Tori Amos and the Defgroans. |
Brian's sweet sister 13.12.2003 11:20 |
No f*c**ng way do they sound like Queen! For one thing the lead singer is a woman and for another, the songs aren't brilliant and they haven't got good guitar solos, in fact do they have any guitar? Or is it just that woman hogging all the limelight? |
Fenderek 13.12.2003 11:29 |
Don't like EVANESCENCE, was in my TOP5 crap bands Don't find any similiarities at all |
Banquo 13.12.2003 12:27 |
Well said Fenderak despite our differences (see Robbie topic) we are together in professing that Evanescence are shite. |
Somebody to loveeeee 13.12.2003 15:12 |
"My immortal" is a breathtaking song and their album "Fallen" is the first cd in about two years that I would pay money for, if only I'd found it when I was in a cd-shop a week ago. |
dragonzflame 13.12.2003 23:31 |
Actually, as I think I mentioned before, they sound like Linkin Park with a female vocalist. The album isn't that good, it's all very bleak and depressing. Although admittedly My Immortal is really nice. |
Somebody to loveeeee 14.12.2003 06:26 |
What's wrong with depressing music? |
Iam the one 14.12.2003 07:10 |
I dont like the band so much. The chick is pretty foxy, but its overproduced gothic (metal) and it should not be overproduced for the masses. |
Fenderek 15.12.2003 03:07 |
If this is a depressing music- I'm Donald Duck... Pop-goth, that's what it is... Want depressing music...? Check Peter Murphy or Lacrimosa... |
Mr.Jingles 15.12.2003 08:28 |
Nirvana is one of the most depressing bands ever, but also one of the greatests. Evanescence is a band that needs to mature more, but considering that they have just put out their first album they look very promising. I have to say that "Fallen" is the best album I've heard from a new band since No Doubt's 'Tragic Kingdom', or 'Siamese Dream' by Smashing Pumpkins. |
ogre t raylot 15.12.2003 08:39 |
"Nirvana is one of the most depressing bands ever, but also one of the greatests." Nirvana were always a pale imitation of The Pixies |
Somebody to loveeeee 15.12.2003 08:57 |
How the hell does a band "mature" more??????? The backstreet boys always say their new album sounds "more mature", yet it's always the same crap. |
Fenderek 15.12.2003 09:10 |
LOL Mature Crap, just like mature cheddar... |
Mr.Jingles 15.12.2003 09:33 |
BSB can't write their own music. As much as they like to get credit themselves for "co-writing" songs, we all know that boy bands can't make any input other than coming up with some silly lyrics. Evanescence deserves the credit for writing their own music. What I mean by saying that they need to "mature" more as a band is to become more experimental in their music, but by putting out such a great album like 'Fallen' they have shown that they can do so. I would also point the fact that Amy Lee sometimes fails to reach high notes on her songs played live like she does on the album. Although she has an awesome voice, the girl sure needs a voice coach. |
willem-jan 8923 15.12.2003 10:04 |
"I have to say that "Fallen" is the best album I've heard from a new band since No Doubt's 'Tragic Kingdom'..." It was the 3rd album by No Doubt. For the rest I do think Evanescence are okay. However, NOT original. Metal + female vocals was invented by the Gathering some 10 years ago. Evanescence is the first band to make it in the world wide charts, that doesn't make them inventors. It's just nu-metal with female vocals. No more, we won't here anything from them when nu-metal is over. |
Fenderek 15.12.2003 10:52 |
And it will be soon over... Thank God!!! |
The Real Wizard 20.12.2003 21:08 |
Evanescence certainly isn't too bad, but with the way she sings, her voice will be gone in a couple years. She hits any note she wants to now with chest voice, but it won't last. Trust me. |
The Fairy King 21.12.2003 08:58 |
Nirvana are way overrated! The Darkness are influenced by Queen, that shows in their work, but they try to sound like a mixture of 70's glamrockbands...and to talk ONtopic...Evanescence don't sound like Queen, maybe ur aiming on the many ballads on Fallen and Origin, which sometimes sound like a Mercury pianoballad, but they're obviously metal/gothic oriended....and i love em :P |
runy 23.12.2003 02:56 |
yeah, I don't like Evanescence. They suck! They don't remind me Queen at all. Was there Nirvana mentioned? Well, Nirvana was GOOD, though don't remind Queen too. |
geeksandgeeks 23.12.2003 15:09 |
Nirvana are overrated, but I still love 'em. More importantly, they love Queen. However grievously many of them try to deny it, many of my friends know this because they lived in Kurt Cobain's ass from 1991 to 1994, and therefore heard him say (write?) that News of the World was a fantastic album. And yes, I can hear some Queen influence in them. Evanescence, on the other hand, I don't know about. Amy Lee's one of the best vocalists of the last couple years, but her band often makes me want to rip out my hair. |
Krizzy 23.12.2003 15:32 |
MMMMmmm nope cannot see the comparison with Evanescence and Queen. Female voices come probably close to FM but cannot quite fit the bill. I like The Darkness because of Justin Hawkins style which is similar to FM if not too over the top! It's kind of a one-off! He is a good guitarist and a stand out for that reason. Nice butt and chest too ;o*! Kriz ;o) |
Mr.Jingles 23.12.2003 16:19 |
I just can't take a band like 'The Darkness' seriosuly. Even though they have cool songs, I still see them as 'Queen' meets 'Spinal Tap'. |
