When I heard The Miracle album, I thought Party and Kashoggi's ship were all one song because there is such a short gap between the songs, they seemed to merge together, I can't listen to Party now without the much needed Kashoggi's ship concluding the song. Were they meant to merge together like that or was it accidental? |
Pim Derks 16.11.2003 09:13 |
Since there's also a stand-alone version of Khashoggi's Ship somewhere in the Queen archives, they were probably written and recorded apart and then added together later on for the album. |
The Man On The Prowl 16.11.2003 09:45 |
So what about Flick Of The Wrist and Lily Of The Valley, or The Prophet's Song written by Brian and Love Of My Life written by Freddie? |
Pim Derks 16.11.2003 11:41 |
FOTW/LOTV were written apart, as the melody doesn't segue - they were just crossfaded. Same for the Prophet's Song I think - maybe they added the piano part later on to segue into LOML. |
Brian's sweet sister 16.11.2003 12:33 |
I think Party totally needs KS to conclude it, it's not the same, Party ends weird without KS, don't you think? |
Lester Burnham 16.11.2003 13:42 |
'Party' is absolutely the worst song ever recorded by Queen. Whenever I play 'The Miracle', I always start with 'Khashoggi's Ship', so I always view that as the opening track of 'The Miracle'. |
Fenderek 16.11.2003 14:09 |
I love guitars in Party- amazing!!! |
Sebastian 16.11.2003 16:02 |
I've always felt too that somehow Kashoggi's is an extension of Party, in a similar way With a Little Help is with Sgy Pepper's, but who knows... Brian once said that Kashoggi and Worth It were the two possible endings of the album, so it seems that Party and KS weren't one piece |
Brian's sweet sister 17.11.2003 14:48 |
How can you dis' party? It's an amazing song but not without KS maybe. Cos it ends weird otherwise. But still, a great song, definitley not worst. The worst I've heard is GDML. |
Lester Burnham 17.11.2003 16:47 |
"How can you dis' party?" Easy. I hate it. There! |
FriedChicken 17.11.2003 19:57 |
"in a similar way With a Little Help is with Sgy Pepper's," I never thought of these 2 songs to be written for each other. since they're not similar at all, and the don't blend in very well. (Queen example: Flick of the Wrist/Lily of the Valley) The guitar just starts during the last vocals. So it sounds like they were just pasted together. As for Fairy feller/nevermore, I think Freddie didn't write those songs on side B to be a big medley, I'm pretty sure they came up with that idea later, and added some extra pieces to make it blend better (like they did in live shows aswell). |
Matti 17.11.2003 23:08 |
I love Party and KS! |
GonnaUseMyPrisoners 18.11.2003 00:29 |
I wish they weren't stuck together like that, 'cuz I think Party is GRRRRRREEEEAAAT, but loses steam during K's Ship. During K's Ship I always get bored by the time "Everybody drank my wine, if you get my drift" is sung, and I get the drift all too vividly... eeeeeewww. Bit "hard to swallow", "if you get my drift"... ;-) |
MexQueenFM 18.11.2003 00:43 |
i like both songs , they are cool |
Sebastian 18.11.2003 07:01 |
Sgt Pepper's was a kind of creating alter-egos, that's why in the end the fictional Billy Shears is introduced, and so WALHFMF start. Of course it wasn't like Paul thought of the whole two songs at once, they just used some ideas he had and created the two songs out of them. |
FriedChicken 18.11.2003 09:22 |
I never liked the Beatles version of With a little help from my friends very much. The Joe Cocker version is great! |
Sebastian 18.11.2003 10:19 |
I think the opposite, I hate Joe Cocker's version, while the Fab Four's is one ofmy five favourite songs ever |
Brian's sweet sister 18.11.2003 14:14 |
Everybody drank my wine, if you get my drift" is sung, and I get the drift all too vividly... eeeeeewww. Bit "hard to swallow", "if you get my drift"... You have too much imagination Gonnausemyprisoners. |
Brian's sweet sister 18.11.2003 14:17 |
Kashoggi's Ship (Queen) Who said that my party was all over Huh huh I'm in pretty good shape The best years of my life are like a supernova Huh huh perpetual craze I said that Everybody drank my wine - you get my drift And then we took a holiday on Khashoggi's ship - well We really had a good good time they was all so sexy We was bad we was blitzed All in all it was a pretty good trip This big bad sucker with a fist as big as your head Wanted to get me I said go away I said kiss my ass honey He pulled out a gun wanted to arrest me I said uh uh uh babe Now listen no-one stops my party No-one stops my party No-one no-one no-one stops my party Just like I said We were phased we was pissed Just having a total eclipse That's good This one's on me so let us do it just right This here one party don't get started 'till midnight Everybody party to the left - party to the right Left - right Left right No-one stops my ... Ok quite a few of the lyrics in here are a bit hard to understand, I have to agree. |
Spisso 18.11.2003 21:22 |
Party and KS are cool. Not my fav songs ever, of course. But still cool |
Matti 18.11.2003 22:59 |
The Beatles version of WALHFMF is way better than Joe Cocker's!!!! |

So what about Flick Of The Wrist and Lily Of The Valley, or The Prophet's Song written by Brian and Love Of My Life written by Freddie? when I first got into Queen and got ANATO on tape, I could never find where LOML started till he started to sing, only later when I got it on CD could I figure it. |
Mr Coolest Cat 19.11.2003 06:13 |
Out of all Queen songs,IMO,Party & Khashoggi's Ship are the very worst, i always start The Miracle album from track 3. |
FriedChicken 19.11.2003 11:40 |
i always start on track 4 |
wstüssyb 19.11.2003 11:46 |
i always start on track 4 Yea...Well...I always start on track 5! |
Brian's sweet sister 19.11.2003 14:27 |
IMO all the songs on the miracle album are great. Most of the songs grow on me, because to be truthful, I loathed party at the start and DID always skip the song, but after I heard it a few times I really liked it. Some songs you think you hate but in fact you really like. Has anyone else experienced this with some songs, and what were they? |
Sebastian 19.11.2003 15:16 |
funny how love is, money, adam's song I hope it isn't a sin to name those three in the same sentence :) |
MexQueenFM 19.11.2003 15:30 |
well a lot of the songs i heard and didn't enjoy, till i listen to them and now i love them |
GonnaUseMyPrisoners 19.11.2003 23:29 |
"I get the drift all too vividly... eeeeeewww." You have too much imagination Gonnausemyprisoners." Well, maybe. I get these naughty ideas in my head, and they fit the mood, so I run with 'em. Anyway, I'm always open to other ideas. So, tell me: if that interpretation wasn't what they meant by that line, then what do you think it meant instead? Freddie threw lots of parties & passed around a lot of wine, sure. So that's literal. But when you follow the line with "if you get my drift", you just can't take the line literally any more, I don't think. That line is like winking - it indicates INNUENDO (was it one the wrong CD?)... so... if I'm using too much imagination, then what IS the joke??? |
Brian's sweet sister 20.11.2003 14:25 |
OK, OK I get your drift! |
RainMustFall 20.11.2003 15:36 |
For some strange reason, I didn't like Hammer to Fall, Now I'm Here, and Headlong when I first heard them... then, of course, I started to listen to them more often and began to like them. |
Spisso 21.11.2003 06:20 |
Headlong is amazing |
Mr Coolest Cat 21.11.2003 11:08 |
I did'nt like Action this day the first time i heard it, but listened to it again and again and it grew on me, the same can't be said for Party & KS, i have listened to them both a dozen times but i just can't stand them. |
Brian's sweet sister 22.11.2003 06:14 |
Is there any other songs that connect like P and KS and FOTW and LOTV? I find this very strange and interesting as I like to extend the songs like this. I notice Tenement Funster and Sheer heart attack and some other songs end weirdly like cut off's, as there might be an extension or something, anyone know? |
Mr Coolest Cat 22.11.2003 06:33 |
March of the black Queen and Funny how love is.The Prophets song and Love of my life. |
GonnaUseMyPrisoners 22.11.2003 23:38 |
...and even though they're separated by a fraction of a second of silence, you just can't separate WWRY and WATC. They belong together forever & ever. |
Pim Derks 23.11.2003 04:49 |
"I notice Tenement Funster and Sheer heart attack and some other songs end weirdly like cut off's, as there might be an extension or something, anyone know?" You've probably only heard the mp3's - as otherwise you'd known that TF flows into Flick Of The Wrist and Sheer Heart Attack isn't part of a segue - it just ends like that. |
