Don't you think that the cleaned Milton Keynes bit on GVHII is just awesome???!!! I know the gig quite well, but with this sound and picture... WOW!!! I want the whole thing now!!!!!! And Freddie's voice was just as powerful as never before and as only few times later...
I thought Freddie's voice was far from flat that (day)/night at MK. I remember freddie saying it was the first time they'd played in daylight. I also remember one of the support acts (Teardrop Explodes) getting boo'd off stage! It was a long hot day, and we'd got bored of support acts! There were 3 or 4 of them, with ever growing drum kits! Until the boys finally did their thing. I'm thought they did 'Spread Your Wings' but have never seen or heard recording of it at MK.
As soon as I get my DVD recorder (next few weeks), one of my first projects is to archive my ageing 20 years old MK VHS tape (orig recorded from broadcast, 80 min version).
It'll be complete with menu and chapter marks.
I also have the cut down VH1 45 min version recorded directly in superior SVHS.
So I have two choices..
1) Record just the original VHS version.
2) Mix the two together and use all the SVHS version and add the missing VHS parts.
But this will result in a noticable change in video and sound quality as well as the VH1 logo appearing and dissapearing.
I'm doing this solely for preservation and NOT financial gain.
I'll let you know how I go on and am open to any suggestions.
I wonder if they do release MK 82 on DVD , will they sneakily replace that FBG screech by Freddie with a better bit from the same tour (very possible..I'd say)
I dunno why, but I think by putting these snippets on these DVDs (Milton Keynes and Rainbow) that QP won't release the full gig. Dunno why. Why would you put a bit of a gig on a DVD set, when you were going to release the whole thing seperatly? Hmmmmm.....
"will they sneakily replace that FBG screech by Freddie with a better bit from the same tour (very possible..I'd say)"
Brian's solo has about a minute cut from the video because his cord fell out of his guitar! I wonder if they will keep that in there?
Or perhaps this is a good enough reason never to release the complete show... ??
Tip: buy the Brazilian :Final live in Japan.
Great DVD! Though sound and picture are not perfect DVD standards, it is very high in quality afterall because the source for the DVD was the Japanese laserdisc of this gig in Tokyo 1985.
I am very pleased with this purchase, got it a week ago.
It's a bootleg, but a very good one :-)
