Great interviewer. She didn't know a lot about the band, but she was still very knowledgeable about the biz and was an excellent conversationalist.
Roger was already a master of PR by 82 - asked about the band travelling in separate limos and staying away from each other, he says they actually socialize quite a lot. She catches him in the lie, saying how her source was Mercury.
"He says the first thing that comes to his head!" and they share a laugh.
As ever, expert precision in keeping their inner woes out of the headlines, as the band was beginning to fall apart at this point. This is a massive part of their continued success that often goes overlooked.
Thanks for posting this.
Very nice! I agree with you Dr. Bob that the interviewer was very keen on the business. Cool to hear that they were in Washington the night before hanging out with Elton!
I live in NYC and this interviewer was a well known anchor until she retired/was fired a few years ago after she was caught swearing on the air. But she was always top notch so no surprise she was somewhat well prepared on the business despite not being an expert on the band. Here's the clip of her swearing btw if you're interested: link
BTW SORRY i accidentally posted this in another question on an interview snipped--i'm new deal with it
