MisterCosmicc wrote: Runner actually reminds me of John Deacon. Runner’s comments about Queen and Adam Lambert seem very similar to John Deacon’s comments on Queen and Robbie Williams.Well - about time to confess that I am actually John Deacon. I didn't think it would take such a long time that someone finally got a clue but now is the time! After Roger called me a "sociopath" in an interview I decided to go online to air my opinions on the shameful actions May and Taylor have taken since Freddie's passing. I am still financially involved in Queen productions and get a cut from touring but that's about it. I haven't talked to Brian and Roger for about 18 years now - we are only in touch through our lawyers. They asked me to go on tour with them with Paul Rodgers which I declined. After the Tribute show, which would have been the fitting epitaph for Queen as a band, I decided to retire. I still did the MIH album, where a lot of grief was involved in the making. "No One But You" was my last recording with the guys and it would have been the perfect ending. Calling a band "Queen", when the main man (which is undeniably Freddie) is missing, is just not possible. Just imagine The Rolling Stones without Mick -laughable! Brian and Roger decided to use the brand and called themselves "Queen" with a plus for their various singers. I told them that it is a wrong move, that it harms the legacy and that they should just leave it at that. Jim Beach, May and Taylor thought otherwise so they resurrected the dead horse Queen. Who would have thought that the "band" (is it a band anymore???) would last longer now than when we were a creative and active entity until 1991? Very hard to believe. I told them that I hated their WATC-version with Robbie Williams as it just felt wrong. Since then they haven't spoken to me in person anymore. It now shows that Brian is the one that can run the show as "his" band, which it wasn't when Freddie was alive. Freddie was the glue that kept it all together. He had more rows with Brian than you folks could ever imagine and they were far from friends. That's why I took some breathers here and there while recording (remember my famous "Bali" - holiday back in 1983 when it was a pain in the ass working with Brian???). I watched some of the Q+PR concerts on youtube and DVD. PR is a decent singer but some songs just did not fit as he is more of a straight rocker I suppose. Nonetheless a nice guy. I also had some rows about using my /our songs in adverts. Something which was impossible when all four of us were together. Nowadays it seems every second commercial from cars to socks has a Queen song in it. I wonder sometimes if Brian and Roger have financial problems because they seem to sell anything to everyone. I had to laugh when they advertised Paul as "Freddie's favourite singer", which was never the case. He was more into Plant in the early days and sure not into Free/Bad Company later on. He preferred soul singers like Aretha Franklin or opera singers as you all know. After QPR was over I thought that they were done now. Then they approached me again for another tour this time with a guy from "American Idol". I watched some of his footage and had to cringe. His voice was absolutely annoying and he seemed to destroy any song he sang, like "Whole lotta love" by Led Zep or our beloved Queen - songs. Hard to believe they would go on another Greatest Hits tour with a Karaoke singer. But again they did it, year after year with always the same setlist. I felt sorry for those who attended those shows as this had nothing to do with Queen at all. It is like watching a tribute act with some original members involved. And I think this guy cannot sing at all. He does not seem to have a fanbase at all for his solo stuff and is just living on Freddie's laurels. Sad to watch actually. This time Brian and Roger could not advertise him as "Freddie's favourite singer" so they came up with "Freddie would have loved him". I do not think so. He loved creative talent not runner-ups in karaoke shows which is what this guy really is. I watched some footage and had ""WTF"-moments all the time. What the hell were they thinking??? All this for the mighty $$$? They approached me as well about a biopic years ago. I had no interest in that at all so I waived my rights and let them do whatever they wanted as they bored me to tears already. I surely have seen the movie - and it is on the same level as QAL: Appalling, wrong in all places and full of blatant lies. Just another attempt to rewrite Queen history. Brian as creative leader of the band, Freddie as unreliable drugged-up prick who is leaving the band and who has to beg "Saint May" to get back as their singer. My character has about one line in this all in all horrible flick. I really wonder why it made so much money but I think it is because of the music only. I see they are touring in 2020 with another Greatest hits show with ticket prices going through the roof. Good for them. This might be the final cash-in . What they sacrificed is their artistic integrity and more. I was over at Queenonline as well for a while and then I found this place. Most people are wrong about May and Taylor. Especially Brian is very two-faced and has always been. And it shows with age. Here are some strange folks who tell Queen fans to go away because the "new" singer is the better one. Hard to read actually. He is a karaoke singer in a tribute act for God's sake! This posting will go viral in a few days as it is the first time I broke my silence. I might do an interview with a huge music paper soon where I will air my opinion maybe a little more detailed. As I will be hounded by the press again I think I will take a holiday for a few weeks. At least the movie has made some decent cash so I can relax in the sun. I think Bali might be an option again. So far thank you for your ongoing support. Those who are against QAL or the other various incarnations of this once great band are the real loyal fans. The dead horse Queen has suffered enough since 1991. Bye for now :) |

"Those that are against QAL are the real loyal fans." John...instead of just sitting back and taking your "cut" you do have the power to stop it y'know? |

PrimeJiveUSA 23.10.2019 14:48 |
Of course he does. They had to get his consent to move forward and he could move for an injunction if he wanted to and tie it up in court where they couldn't use the Queen name until there was a final judgement. |
MisterCosmicc 23.10.2019 15:36 |
He could. Probably wouldn’t work well. J. Geils tried that with the J. Geils Band and they just continued. |
PrimeJiveUSA 23.10.2019 16:05 |
Well...you just answered your own question. "He could." There is a very good chance he could prevail as Queen is incorporated and he is an equal member. J. Geils, probably not and he doesn't have a fraction of the resources that JD does. |

I am not part of Queen touring ltd. This is a completely different legal entity. The financial statements are online for all to see. I even posted the link a while ago. Brian und Roger are the sole CEOs |

I have one comment — what is all of this baloney about QAL touring only with the greatest hits set list when that is exactly what they always did with Freddie? |
mrdata1968 23.10.2019 17:42 |
1000% respect from me John. QPR was the last gig i went to. A shame because i'm a guitar lover... |

“There is a very good chance he could prevail as Queen is incorporated and he is an equal member.” Queen is a corporation and John is outnumbered. As the CEO of a corporation, John could bring them to court, he’d never win the battle, though. |

The magic tour perhaps was a greatest hits tour, the other tours were not. |

You're only saying that because recently someone else said something similar on another thread. You don't actually know as you're not a Queen fan and seem unable to think for yourself. |

He'll has frozen over. A runner70 post in the AL section that was readable and not offensive. Funny even. I'm going to have to double check my medication. |
