The 1998 remasters by Peter Mew were released in USA and Japan as CD (just Queen to The Game) and one decade later in LP only in USA (another selection of titles).
The 2001 remasters also by Mr Mew were (mainly) Japan-exclusive.
Both follow the same basic processing chain, but the Eq and target levels were slightly different.
Miniatures are just the Japanese CDs repackaged (without the obis) in two nice little boxes for sale in the UK. Audio-wise, the content is identical to The Crown Jewels. The packaging of the US CDs is of much lesser quality, but the box set has a very pretty booklet.
The paper quality and print details are better on those Japanese issues (also included in Miniatures); the US cardsleeves are just OK. Just check photos from The Game or Jazz to see what I mean.
News of the World looks particularly bad. The picture of the cover doesn't even fit properly on the CD jacket and there's a horrible blank "space" on the side. I purchased a few Japanese '98 releases and then sold them as I was packing to get the Crown Jewels in the future. Until I saw the box opened in a store and I couldn't believe the bad quality.
I didn't buy it until like a month ago for 40 bucks or so. The box is not perfect quality but I didn't feel like spending a lot for that trinket.
