I personally don't like Queen memes. Too many of them focus on Freddie's sexuality when it REALLY DOESN'T MATTER. He was a musician. He wanted to be remembered for his music, not that "he was gay and still wrote a song about fat bottomed girls". And he didn't even write that, Brian did.
However, I really appreciate this one. link
I remember that one from many years ago. I chuckled when I saw it.
@stevelondon20 Whats not to like? Its a joke about Freddie having more epic power inside of him than a human could handle. He was like an X-Men.
Perhaps, but the only thing literally devouring his body, eating him away to the point he was rotting skin was AIDS. It's cute to make a joke about that I guess?
Whats up with some thinking its a joke about aids? It clearly isn't. It's even complementary to Freddie. You people do know that not every joke with the word aids in it is making fun of the disease?
1) He died
Of
2) Complications from AIDS
3) claiming something else WITHERED HIM AWAY invokes the concept of falling apart
4) the meme is supposed to be funny
5) AIDS related death = likely a very painful debilitating and psychologically traumatic death sentence
6)the meme is topical about his death
7) he didn't explode or anything when he died
8) why would this need explaining? It's nonsensical AND in bad taste
Power destroying his body is pretty much comparing him to a nuclear radiation victim.
Go search the old thread on the most painful death. I think Hiroshi Ouchii or whatever his name is a good case.
I dunno. Maybe you've gotta be a millennial and drunk to go with this meme
"Power destroying his body is pretty much comparing him to a nuclear radiation victim" Hahaha seriously? That made me laugh harder than the meme.
Ah well, if some cant understand the structure of a joke and what is meant to be funny about it I dont think I can help them. Also, taste is a matter of opinion with jokes but they are still just jokes.
Sign of the times I guess that more people these days take jokes seriously and misinterpret their meaning. Too bad for them.
@stevelondon20 You do know that humour is subjective right? You might not find it funny but it can still be to others. Next time try saying: "I dont'f find it funny" instead of stating it as a fact which of course is nonsense.
Exactly.
Maybe it's a defensive mechanism saying hey lets celebrate Freddie being so awesome. I get THAT part, but Jesus. What can't be ignored is he was essentially dying for 5-8 years like someone with a failing organ almost.
I don't know HOW they could highlight his death and try to make laughter of it. Nothing would even be remotely close to changing the fact it was long, debilitating and traumatic.
Highlight his strengths, yes. But like u all said, it's all relative. I can get how people would think that's funny in a Chuck Norris meme kind of way. Prob is it fails logic even while the Chuck Norris ones defy logic.
It's just bizarre and bad. But yeah. At least it's not a derailed great thread now talking about orthopedic bandages and salves.
I swear something out there got carried away
