Dolezal is writing a book titled “My Friend, Freddie” about his experiences (due out later this year) and plans to release unedited versions of his interviews with Mercury in a new film, “Freddie Mercury: In His Own Words.” link |

unedited versions of his interviews? Great! Can't wait!! |
Sebastian 19.01.2019 12:12 |
I suppose now is a good time for everybody connected with Frederick in some way to release a book. Looking forward to it. |

I saw the documentary he was part of (he was co-director) about Whitney Houston, "Whitney: Can I be me?" and I knew nothing about Whitney prior to seeing it (I only saw it as I was helping out promote screenings of films around the country (I was obviously just doing screenings near me!) as a volunteer for BIFA - British Independent Film Awards & I doubt I'd have chosen to see the film had I not had to be there for the screening.) Of course I knew Whitney's most well known songs, but her music isn't exactly my taste and I knew nothing else about her. I have to say it was SUCH an amazing documentary and what's more made me fall totally in love with Whitney as a person and filled me with respect for her talent as an artist. Thus, if he wants to write a book, make a documentary, or make one of those sequels or other films about Freddie, I am there for it Rudi! And I am definitely there for interviews - the best of all! :) |

Yeah Whitney was such a powerful singer a true star and very talented but like Freddie bad people influenced her to the seedy side of life and ultimately she was taken from us. I look forward to all the new Freddie material, and Rudi did really appreciate Freddie for who he was and his musical brilliance. Such a shame that a few people on here disrespect him and make fun of him. |
pholidota 19.01.2019 15:42 |
"I was getting very friendly with one of Queen’s backing vocalists, and she and I decided to go somewhere — just the two of us. Freddie realized that and said ‘OK, you can use my guest bedroom,’ and went upstairs and put in new linen on the beds for us himself.” Queen had female backing vocalists? |
matt z 19.01.2019 15:43 |
Whitney? I've always been amazed to find out that SHE was the worse influence within her marriage with Bobby Brown. She definitely had better PR. Either way, this is fantastic news! (Although some will simply see it as a cash in) They worked together for several years. It's welcome to hear some insight into Freddies work ethic and "vision" Damn. Gotta start saving dough. No doubt it'll only be carried in the UK |
Makka 19.01.2019 16:43 |
It'd be great to see what footage he has from all the time spent with the band. |
Star* 19.01.2019 17:44 |
Pholidota Queen never had backing singers when Freddie was alive as far as i know, so you may have dreamed about that story. |
dastard 19.01.2019 18:20 |
@EMI2565 Pholidota merely quoted a piece of the interview with Dolezal on that website, Dolezal is talking about backing vocalists. |
Star* 19.01.2019 19:00 |
He said Queen backing vocalists, surely Queen were only Queen on record and live performances so there was no lady backing vocalists. |
dastard 19.01.2019 19:19 |
We know Queen did not have any lady backing vocalists, Did you read the interview on that website? He is saying "?? ?????? ?????????????? ???????? ???????????????? ???????? ?????? ???? ??????????’?? ?????????????? ??????????????????, ?????? ?????? ?????? ?? ?????????????? ???? ???? ??????????????????" |
dastard 19.01.2019 19:20 |

hahaha, when clicking on he link I found this foto at the article saying 1987. DORO strikes again. 1985 was that shoot during the ONe vision clip. Reminds me of the rare live tape with all these big date mistakes. |

Madmega By saying "SHE" you mean Freddie? |
dastard 19.01.2019 22:01 |
@EMI2565 Ohhh, I understand, you can't read...I am sorry |
Sebastian 19.01.2019 22:05 |
We all know Rudi's memory's far from eidetic... the 'she' he mentioned could've been one of the backing vocalists on the 'Barcelona' project or The Cross (tour and/or video) or Brian's 'Back to the Light' (sessions for which began in or around 1988), and maybe, in his mind, any of the female backing vocalists in any of those records would've qualified as a 'one of Queen's backing vocalists', just like loads of people think Andrew Gibb was part of the group The Bee Gees (he wasn't) or that the first Queen album partially done outside England was 'Jazz' (it wasn't). Wrong, potentially annoying... but still, far from being a statistical anomaly and it doesn't necessarily render everything else he says as false (not that anyone implied so anyway). |
dysan 19.01.2019 22:15 |
We all know it was Roger. |
NastyQueenie74 19.01.2019 22:44 |
Probably someone from the Living On My Own video |

Sebastian: very true. I think all of the time biographies say as much about the author as the subject. Which to me is an interesting thing about biographies. And if you read enough you get your own sense of the subject (of course your own sense is also dependent on who YOU are, so you can't suddenly believe your idea is more right than anyone else!) Memory is fallible, as is perception and it is in things like the inaccuracies and for example things we know (if it is about Freddie - Lucky us that we live in a time close enough to know this) Freddie wouldn't have wanted said as examples that we get insight into who a biographer is too, I feel. I think it is impossible for a biography to be unbiased. Unless it is either very boring (ie ONLY factual), or has an infinity of contributors, all of whom had intimate insight with the subject spanning/throughout their entire life. |

Not Sure if I am interested in his project. Maybe some nice bits will come to light. On The other hand there is the massive load of bs Rudi is to blame for. I can remember a few articles for the RS he wrote. Not too good... |
flash00. 20.01.2019 14:27 |
Makes me wonder if the lady in question was Jo Dare i.e Living on my own etc or hold on session. |
Sebastian 20.01.2019 16:27 |
Yeah, could be. |
mooghead 20.01.2019 17:20 |
Every biographer has an agenda. They are written by people who hate the subject, love the subject or simply want to cash in on the subject. I will treat this one as I have with all the others and ignore. I read Jim Hutton's and he says he wrote it with Freddie's knowledge and blessing? Including his final minutes and last words? The guy really fucked Freddie over when he did that. I guess his bank account got fat though. |
DAZH 20.01.2019 18:56 |
Let's hope he gets his dates right because the home videos from the band he was involved in got dates wrong all over the place |

Star* 21.01.2019 11:53 |
Mooghead: Mary Austin also made a fat fee out of Freddie by going to the papers and glossy magazines, so don't slag Jim Hutton because he made Freddie far more happier than Mary ever could. |
Holly2003 21.01.2019 14:10 |
Bet they were glossier after you finished with them. |
Star* 21.01.2019 15:26 |
Do explain that weird remark Holly? |
pholidota 21.01.2019 19:08 |
Actually, I think it's the part of Freddie putting new linen on beds all by himself that baffled me more than the female backing vocalists. |
Sweetandtenderhooligan 21.01.2019 20:35 |
Jim wrote the book to help him cope. Stop vilifying a man who isn' there to defend himself. Pholidota: Yeah, Freddie certainly wasn't changing sheets lmao. |
FunLovinCriminal 22.01.2019 23:51 |
I never understood why Queen hired the DoRo-guys as often as they did. The videos they „directed“ were subpar. It might have been Dolezals liking of the dreaded Cocaine which Freddie felt attached to. Apart from that, I can't see any reason why Queen didn't hire more talented UK-based video-directors. For Dolezal to cash in now that the movie had taken off, is a bit too predictable. Can't wait for his accent to get to my nerves once again, when he finally releases unedited versions of his FM-interviews... |
emrabt 23.01.2019 20:32 |
I assume they were cheap, got the job done quickly, got along with the band and in the later years they were a reliable enough to be trusted with the knowledge of Freddie's illness. |
MisterCosmicc 23.01.2019 22:07 |
Jo Dare is an odd woman. |

day 1 for me. I'm sure he has lots of great stories to tell |
kosimodo 26.01.2019 22:29 |
All is welcome.. but i never liked anything from the doro team. They never managed to capture the beauty of their music or magic of their performances. For Queen a really odd choise. Guess they were good with Freddie. |
