- Freddie's solo album wasn't succsessful
- Live Aid
- Marillion refused tho do the "Highlander" soundtrack ( not sure if Queen would go back to studio without that offer)
- In spring 86 the god damn nuke plant in Tschernobyl blows up - as a reaction some US Stars were cancelling European Tours, so there was less
competition for the Magic Tour. ( yes ,maybe it's a little bit far fetched )
- Freddie's health was just good enough to go on tour for the last time ( even his immune system must have played yo-yo with him)
opinions ?

Never heard of that, thanx for this useful piece!
I've heard other opinion - there wouldnt be lasting Queen without Live Aid.
Somebody wrote on this forum (ibelieve on the Live Aid topic, but i maybe wrong) that the band were balancing on the edge of breakup after the Works. The quarrels beetween guys were risin (about further musical directions, i assume), Freddie's fallin' health etc.
Queen were on a high after Live Aid, had already been in the studio to record One Vision and would have been eager to benefit from the good will from their performance at Live Aid. So no, not a chance of it being lucky circumstances, Freddie had always said he wouldn't leave Queen even if his solo album had been a roaring success, it was just an outlet for things he wanted to try that didn't fit Queen.
nucleair blast and queen....so you wanna say that's why the tour was suche high success?
i prefer the posts of lambertwoea en papa emaratus above that figments of that creepy musicland troll...they do have a kind of humour that's better to swallow than those imbecile lines of you.
Ever seen ( the real Queen, not the taymay money machine ) the band live?
seed of rhye is feeding the gossip with...i've heard this and i've heard that....
During the 84 and 86 tour...i frequently met Freddie....even a last meeting after the Knebworth show...
never ever he talked about Queen's troubles, solo stuff and so on....Mark from Glasgow...good to hear that there are some really sensible people around this place.

Life is a series of "lucky circumstances" or at least in Queen's case a combination of talent, drive, and the right people meeting at the right time and all wanting it enough to stick together through anything.
I went to a talk by Brian once and he said that initially he applied to study at Clare College, Cambridge, but he didn't get a place. Had Brian got that place, I guess Queen would never have been. I am sure there are thousands of other similarly tiny circumstances that all lead to Queen even meeting and happening at all.
