Would Queens legacy be any different if The Miralce happened to be Queens last Album ? The tone of the Album is alot less serious than Innuendo. |

'Was It All Worth It' suggests they thought it might just be the last album. |

Innuendo is amazing as their last album but The Miracle could have been fine too. I'm sure the thought definitely was in their minds as well, the hints within the album and out of it are too obvious. |

As Innuendo is the last one, it would be a miracle when The Miracle would be the last one! *** Message from the clergy: *** “All hail to PAPA EMERITUS IV !!!” |

The Miracle, for me, was way too many electronic substitutes for the real deal. Drums and bass were substituted on too many songs for my liking. Their backing vocals sound as if they just used what was on the demo for the real thing, resulting in very thin sounding backing vocals. There are a few exceptions of course, but as a whole, I think I like it less than even A Kind of Magic. |

We were later given the track "Innuendo", so be thankful "The Miracle" LP wasn't the last offering. I will always remember buying the Innuendo single on the day of release. The guy in the record store said a few short words, "This is a masterpiece". |

The Miracle was very much an album of it's time in terms of production. I think overall it did not age as good as Inuendo, and it's missing the real big moments, apart from Was it all worth it. If it would have been their last album, Was it all worth it would surley have the role the show must go on amog us fans, but I think that even Innuendo as last album with Freddie does not stand out to the general public or the casual fan. |

Queens best work definitely doesn't always correlate to it's best sales . The mass publicity of Live Aid boosted AKOM, the death of Freddie created MIH. Both multi platinum compared to Innuendo, which is clearly closest to classic Queen |
dysan 14.01.2019 19:47 |
The Miracle would've been like 'he went out with a knowing joke - sooooo Freddie!' Innuendo gave us a more emotional farewell which is the proper tone. Like Blackstar. A dense record full of clues. That said, I do prefer The Miracle just for nostalgia reason, I'd all but left Queen by the time Innuendo came out. Not their fault. |

The Miracle was a template for Innuendo. Innuendo was an improvement in my opinion. Scandal... Innuendo I want It all... Headlong Miracle.... These Are The Days of Our Lives Invisible Man... I can't Live With You Rain Must Fall... Delilah Breakthru.... Ride The Wild Wind Was It all Worth It... The show Must go On Miracle and Innuendo could have been a double album if the production of each didn't sound so different. Side A 1. Innuendo 2. I'm Going Slightly Mad 3. I Want It All 4. The Miracle 5. Mother Love Side B 1. Breakthru 2. Too Much Love Will Kill You 3. The Invisible Man 4. Don't Try So Hard 5. Ride The Wild Wind Side C 1. These Are The Days Of Our Lives 2. I Can't Live With You 3. Scandal 4. Was It All Worth It 5. A Winter's Tale Side D 1. All God's People 2. Hang On In There 3. You Don't Fool Me 4. Bijou 5. The Show Must Go On |

I'm so happy there was still time for Innuedo. In my opinion Innuendo is way better overall and also: the best tracks are some of Queen's finest. Best Innuendo tracks: Innuendo I'm going slightly lad These are the days of our lives The show must go on Nothing on The Miracle comes close, excpt for I want it all which is a very strong track. |

Depends what you want really. If I had to choose to keep one song off both those records, I'd go for WIAWI. Great song and memories of a hot 1989 summer mucking around on bikes in the woods. |

I remember perfectly that summer in my holiday place by the mediterranean, just 13 years old, playing the Miracle in my walkman all day. Great memories. That's why this album, with its highs and lows, has a very special place in my heart. Never get tired of it. That said, I also believe Innuendo is a much better farewell album. Fuck, I was amazed the first time I heard the lead single on the radio. It was so epic and exotic... yeah, a masterpiece indeed! |

Lovely stuff! Funnily enough I remember not being too bothered by Innuendo (the single). I thought it was slow and trying too hard to be bonkers. Now I can see (and this is only a recent re-evaluation) that it's bloody amazing. I was more into Bowie by then, and discovering stuff like Lodger and Station To Station. Queen seemed passe. Add to that it was a cold January and I have few happy memories of that record! The exact opposite of The Miracle. |

I first heard I Want It All while waiting to do my second static-line parachute jump. To say I was 'pumped' would be an understatement. Best rush ever. |

I was 12 years old when The Miracle arrived, it had that summer feeling, nice video's with a lot of energy in it (Breakthru!) and some killer songs. Innuendo was much darker, had this gloomy feeling about it. Released in the winter with a lot of rumours and video's that were a bit off. Queen was sort of invisible by then. I love them both but for different reasons. The Miracle is the soundtrack of my youth. Happy and cheerful. Innuendo the soundtrack of a tricky period where I lost some familymembers and was struggling with puberty. Losing Freddie was hard, too. |

The Miracle was exciting too because of the single B sides. It wasn't like oh another single - it was like a whole brand new song. It's impossible for me to separate the album from those bonus tracks. It was such a good few months. |
dysan 15.01.2019 13:50 |
But Innuendo had pretty sloppy b-sides that didn't work when added to a tape of the album. |

Personally I imagine I’d have discovered Queen much later if they’d ended at The Miracle, since I discovered the band as a child when Made in Heaven was released & I heard the single Heaven for everyone on the radio & fell in love with Freddie’s voice. Having more perspective of time now, it feels sort of sad I first heard Queen only a few years after Freddie left the world. Musically I adore Innuendo & the last album before it I loved that much was A Day at the Races. I doubt overall it’d change their legacy, but in my mind (if I discovered the band at all!?!) it would as they wouldn’t have had that return to utter brilliance, so part of me would feel they made their best music in the 70’s & that was that. I’d have felt they were never capable of doing something truly great again. Innuendo is such a poignant and just brilliantly written & made album. Thanks be that it exists. |

I remember noticing all those non-album B sides every time a single was released and being very frustrated because I didn't have money to buy them. As you can imagine, I couldn't listen to all those songs until ... I don't know, maybe 4 or 5 years later. The first one, in a rarities bootleg CD I bought that included "Stealin'". It was very exciting every time I put my hands on every "new" song....and what a disappointment it was the first time I listened to Chinese Torture (after that many years, I had imagined it would be an epic song with awesome Freddie's vocals). |
Golden Salmon 15.01.2019 16:42 |
When I was first discovering non-album Queen tracks, some of the first I listened to were this album's b-sides. It was really cool thinking: "Wait... so after all the albums, there are still over 10 Queen songs I never knew about? Roughly another album's running time worth of new music? Yay!" |
FlorianS 15.01.2019 17:55 |
I remember being totally frustrated around '92 because I thought I will never get to hear all the b-sides. I even had a list pinned on my desk with all the titles. Someday I discovered that my dad had the Breakthru' Single on Vinyl...I was a very happy 14 year old boy and played the 12" Version and Stealin a dozen times in a row. Later I bought all the Hollywood records releases as expensive import CDs to get access to more B-Sides. |

I have very beautiful memories during the summer of 1989. I want it all was a great rocker, breakthru was uplifting both songs made Queen to be everywhere. I liked the title track, Scandal and my baby does me. The album was very good for its time. I also remember the time where I was searching for B-sides, 12 remixes, albums . Queen were and still is at The top 5 of more collectable artists & bands. It was very difficult to track them and some were very expensive. |
dysan 16.01.2019 19:21 |
My eyes popped out of my head in Our Price when I saw the b-sides on The Miracle single. I think I passed on it though because I didn't like the track much and already had Rare Live. |
Metropolis 10.10.2019 21:47 |
I loved both Innuendo and the Miracle. The tone is very different on the two albums. To me, The Miracle feels more like a “I’ll face it with a grin” attitude, trying hard to be positive, while Innuendo is like a solemn flashback on his achievements and his life, showing more of his true emotions and thoughts. |
dysan 11.10.2019 06:53 |
Imagine if Innuendo hadn't been released, but was nearly finished when Freddie went back to the land of Rhye. Just imagine how amazing Made In Heaven would've been. Anyway nice reading this thread and the shared hive-mind memories of Summer 1989. Good thread. |

Was blown away by IWIA but the album left me cold at first - especially the strange opening songs Party and Khashoggis ship. It is one of their worst albums in general but has some awesome songs like WIAWI, IWIA, Scandal, Breakthru, Miracle but utter garbage like Rain Must Fall, My baby does me and Invisible Man, which are some of their worst ever. Innuendo is another league. WIAWI was clearly planned as a farewell song sadly.... |
