Flicking through a new Queen compendium magazine (was a tenner so screw that) I was pleased to be reminded of David Quantick's review in NME of A Kind Of Magic.
Nice. Don’t know him but great. I saw a review of ‘One Vision’ from 1985 by two members of some band. One was for the single and the other said he missed the first few Queen albums.
Imagine if Gimme The Prize was a single in the USA instead of Pain Is So Close To Pleasure?
Actually, the people who have loved that music so much and hold it so highly are Highlander fanatics. I hear more positive things about the A Kind Of Magic music from Highlander fans than Queen fans
Was David Quantick serious when he wrote this review? Favouring "One Vision" over "anything that Hüsker Dü have ever done" is as meaningful as saying Dire Straits are better than Slayer. Both are music, but that's all when it comes to similarities. Hüsker Dü are effin' awesome in their category. Not to mention that by 1986 they had already released their most acclaim album "Zen Arcade". Which David Quantick may not have liked, but that's hardly relevant to Queen.
