I like Joey too, but I think as I grew with the cast I could see facets of 'everyman' in all of them. It's hard to pick a clear favourite. |
Golden Salmon 24.10.2018 08:49 |
"Why didn't you bother to re-record 'Doing All Right' properly?" No, seriously. More like "Which Smile songs remain unreleased? Any recorded gigs?" |

dysan wrote: I like Joey too, but I think as I grew with the cast I could see facets of 'everyman' in all of them. It's hard to pick a clear favourite. That's true, tbh they all made the show, the dynamic just worked, it's one of those feel good shows you can watch over again, love it. |

It held up a mirror to life and said 'I know you'. It didn't judge, but guided us through our own lives in a way that spoke to us. |

I hate "FRIENDS" it was a piece of shit corporate show with canned laughter thrown into every minute to SIMULATE and stimulate laughter for "themasses" who didn't have actual friends. It's still frighteningly low and horrifying to watch. It's an example of assignment and redundancy in mass media manipulation. Take away the canned laughter and see if anything holds up. But good God.... the canned laughter is an atrocity. Jesus. I hope Staffell despises "friends" as well |
dysan 24.10.2018 14:31 |
I like the canned laughter because it made me feel less lonely watching it in my underwear eating ice cream. |

I just saw that Tim's new album is available now. Anything from Brian or Roger in it? Out of the 9 tracks, there aren't any Smile or related songs. |

Golden Salmon wrote: I just saw that Tim's new album is available now. Anything from Brian or Roger in it? Out of the 9 tracks, there aren't any Smile or related songs. He mentions five other people on it so I'd say no Brian or Roger, he'd surely mention them. |

I'm just glad AMA didn't mean American Music Awards. .... cause how would he fit in with THAT garbage? Unless he were hired as an usher or something if times are tough |
princetom 25.10.2018 19:17 |
hey! people! calm down ! mr. staffell deserves some better than you are delivering ! personally i'm looking foreward to have a listen to his new album. although it may (and WILL) not sound like queen nor smile nor anything like it. but from what my experience grows ... he's a very thoughtful man who's dedicated to music. therefore... have a listen and judge afterwards ! . an "AMA" ??? never heard of this term... it was called a "Q&A" at my age... few days ago... anyway ! great ! ask him some ! what playlists did they perform .... aside from the well known. who WAS the author of "april lady"... ? what did he think of "queen" covering a "smile" song (aka."doing allright). was "white queen" performed the other day ? has any record of the yolden days (if ever recorded) survived... in which format whatsoever... ? . something like that ! |
dysan 25.10.2018 19:36 |
Carl Barnwell from Southern Comfort wrote April Lady |

:-) whatever ... a stan lucas (as far as i may recall).... but what was the story behind ? |
Golden Salmon 04.11.2018 22:16 |
This is happening tomorrow! Does anybody know the time? EDIT: it's 1 PM eastern time, or 18:00 in London. |

It is live!
What was Queen like before it became famous? [–]timstaffell I wasn’t closely linked to them in those years and I didn’t see them very often. I think it took some time before they got up and running properly. When I saw the film Bohemian Rhapsody, it filled in a lot of details that I had not been aware of.'Bohemian Rhapsody' is historically accurate, confirmed by Tim Staffell. Eat that, haters :-P |
dysan 05.11.2018 18:42 |
Haha you're joking right? That confirms nothing. |
dysan 05.11.2018 18:51 |
Thanks for the link - some interesting things. He mentions being staggered when he heard Queen doing Silver Salmon. A shame no one asked what year he heard it :) |
NastyQueenie74 05.11.2018 19:30 |
Seems it got to him after the fact |
dysan 05.11.2018 19:42 |
Yes I think he heard it after they had recorded it. |

Ah it's still going on. He seems like a nice chap. Someone did ask. He didn't answer |

The Queen version of ‘See What A Fool I’ve Been’ is uniquely extemporised. Smile’s version I believe was much closer to the original Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee and it might even have derived from (Hampton School band) 1984. ‘Silver Salmon’ was never in the running for Morgan, because I never fully completed the song and was absolutely staggered when I heard recordings of Queen doing it at a rehearsal.Pretty cool tidbits that some people may ignore. Also, I just found out he designed the "Fun In Space" alien, and apparently Roger used it in his album without knowing it was him who created it! |
dysan 06.11.2018 07:55 |
Apparently that's not quite true. Can't remember the details but I think that was just Tim's company? I saw someone mentioned it on there did he reply to it? |
dysan 06.11.2018 08:52 |
Hmmm that's interesting, he said he did on that thing last night. Now I need to remember where I read that he said he didn't. It's a nice story, mind. |

I registered on Reddit just to participate. I tried to ask questions that weren't being asked but didn't get much out of him except that Freddie didn't have an accent in the early years and that Tim didn't see any racism towards him. The latter is not really surprising, art college students in the 60s weren't really the racist types. |

What do you think about Adam Lambert singing with Queen in recent years? Do you think he's a good fit for the band? timstaffell: Yes, I do. I think Paul Rogers was probably a mistake. But he is a great singer and was always an inspiration, so to work with him seemed like a good choice. I think ultimately the chemistry failed. Adam Lambert is a different matter. Queen have now evolved into a theatrical entity, performing effectively classical rock in much more of a concert setting. Adam is perfect for this. BOOOOOM! XD |
