Lets state the facts for the defence ,Queen recently released News of the world box set for give or take a shilling or two for £128 currently on Amazon. Now Maths was never my strong subject ,but shall we say a nice shiny box set for each of the 15 albums,it comes to wow £1,920.Queen on ithe other hand a full Anthology I think would come in slighty cheaper.Or am I wrong and it would be over £2000.The choice is yours. |

Stop dreaming about Queen Box set(s). One release doesn't mean, we will get some more. |

That was not the question. |

It’ll not happen so this argument/post is immaterial |

dreams dreams sweet dreams bitter realty that box set never will be released |

All the reissues on coloured vinyl should be considered a separate programme to the archive stuff. Standard cash cow record label activity. I'd like to think there is a team constantly preparing material and in those protracted discussions with RT and BM about what to include. What are we getting? One big archival release a year? I think that's fair. Frustrating but fair. The problem is we get a few more reissues per year so the balance looks pretty bad. |

Queen box sets are for a purpose and that is money. As Queen fans we have been treated appallingly as far as releases are concerned, and when you think other artists like Bowie, Beatles and Stones have had some pretty decent releases nearly every year but we Queen fans are way way behind as far as been treated fairly. |

Utter bollocks. Live at Milton Keynes Live in Montreal - apart from moving tracks about the set list, this was a good offering Live At The Rainbow The bonus EP's - although they were short on running time, we got some decent content for the most part NOTW "Raw Sessions" disc - some good stuff there without a doubt. Pray tell what you believe we're OWED.......... |

Hi, Philip. Being able to profit more on sparse releases may be the key to understand why we have no boxset. As regards to the near future, the movie is coming later this year, so the aim of the next releases is supposed to be the masses, not the die hard fans. Cheers, Ogre- |

dudeofqueen : You say bollocks well let me explain, it has taken 28 years to get what we have on Queen so far, yeah and it took Queen nearly 40 years to release the Hammersmith 75 Dvd but we are still awaiting Earls Court 77 and Hyde Park 76 to which i think will never get released. On the Cd front News of the world box set was pretty poor apart from the different first take versions of the songs and the rest was same old.......... What i would personally like is songs which Brian & Roger have in there personal collections of 4 Queen members. Freddie even said there was loads of extra songs running about from The Miracle album back 1989. Brian & Roger do know that but wont work on them. They wasted 13 mins on The Made in Heaven album with that last track which was utter drivel and could have been replaced with Freddie singing a great song and i am sure there was loads left to choose from? |

Of course that's the way a fan thinks. For us every bit of 'new' music is wonderful. Just because it's something new. What people seem to forget is that to the actual artists songs that were dropped are songs of which they thought they weren't good enough to release, or weren't up to their standards. Why would they want to release the stuff they tossed in the garbage in the first place? Try to think like an artist, not like a fan. I'm a recording musician as well, and I don't want people to hear every bit of music that I stopped working on at some point. Sure, some tracks are finished or nearly finished and some people might enjoy it. But I'm not happy with it. And then there's the hundreds of idea's. Just guitar or piano playing while humming some melody and words over it, trying to find a right melody. I don't want people to hear this. |

This has been Queen Productions's modus operandi for the last two decades at least. |

I do, yes. Are you sure you want to? I have a feeling you're going to disappear up your own arse here........ >What i would personally like is songs which Brian & Roger have in there personal collections of 4 Queen members. There we go. Misogyny. Are you Donald Trump on a break from your meeting with your new BFF in Moscow? Brian, Roger and Beechy-Boy couldn't give a shit what you (or I want); they need to generate money to support the building and sustaining of empires. GH collections pay for ex-wives and children; rarities collections don't. >Freddie even said there was loads of extra songs running about from The Miracle album back 1989. Brian & Roger do know that but wont work on them. You don't know that. They might have beavered away on bits and pieces along the way just for shits and giggles with no intent to do anything with the results at all. >They wasted 13 mins on The Made in Heaven album with that last track which was utter drivel You're not being very considerate to the people that lie in bed listening to it wanking whilst dressed up in their Freddie-In-IWTBF cosplay, are you........ >and could have been replaced with Freddie singing a great song and i am sure there was loads left to choose from? You're sure, are you? Examples porquoi? |

I think I'd said it before in another thread - since Queen signed with Universal they've been functioning as a proper entity. What should have happened was, some time in the early 2000s when they were doing stuff with 5ive and whatever, they should have released what became the 40th anniversary editions with bonus EPs. Imagine getting that back then, and then getting all the stuff we've had since, it would have been brill, and much more befitting of the band. Instead, we've have a decade of nonsense, to suddenly get promised a lot that, in our context, falls short at times. Not saying it makes it right that we occasionally get repeats of a lot of stuff we've had before, but it does add a different context to it all. |
dudeofqueen 17.07.2018 14:20 |
GreatKingSam, re: >but it does add a different context to it all. But I'm not sure it does; this is a band that ARE still functioning as a touring outfit, but doing NOTHING OTHER than trading on the contents of the three GH volumes. YET, people still complain that they aren't getting what they want in terms of rarities and out-takes even though there has been a slow trickle of material in recent times. If you expect nothing of any import from QPL, then what you DO get may just shock and surprise. |
