Went to the Newcastle Arena gig on Friday as probably the most sceptical attendee....
All I’m gonna say is if you get the chance, go.
Videos and YouTube clips don’t do them justice.
Brian’s playing as well as ever, Roger, while not as energetic as previous tours, more than makes up for it with that voice.
Then there’s Mr Lambert...... I’m not a fan, but no one can say the guy can’t sing. All 3, as well as the other guys, genuinely seemed to be enjoying themselves.
I suggest if people get the opportunity, to go along. Yes it’s a lot of money, yes he’s not Freddie, but fucking hell, it’s a pretty decent way to spend 2 hours of your life
I have to agree scottmax. I saw them in Dublin last week and it was fantastic. They all really seem to be digging this tour and the musicianship was outstanding. I like you am not a big Adam fan but when I saw them in Glasgow a couple of years back he blew me away. He has an incredible range and certainly does things his way, which is fine by me. I had the pleasure of seeing Queen 4 times, Queen with Paul 6 times and with Adam twice now and they are all different but great in their own way. It's not our band it's Brian, Roger and John's and they can do with it what they please and I for one am fine with that.
If you go you will be entertained and that's what it's all about.
I totally agree with you both. Good show if you want to hear their greatest hits.
Lot of energy is in the shows. Thats what counts
Although, I prefer more Freddie surprises by video or even with a hologram performance.
That should be possible with this kind of production.
I hope I will see freddie performing live as a hologram in the near future.
Probably without brian and roger.
A Freddie hologram!! Really?? Despite any dispute with the predictability of the set list, and odd bits of Freddie video moments, this tour is at least a live musical event. Keep the hologram thing for some other useless act

Agreed.
I also think they have the Freddie appearances well balanced. It is after all live gig. They could play a show without any reference to him, but they've chosen to remember him in a way that he doesn't dominate the present.
The band seem to be genuinely enjoying the shows and performing together. And the production values in this show leave every other Queen tour in the dust. My only complaint would be, like many of us, the setlist but also a lack of real volume. Last time they were louder which also adds to the perceived energy produced. The volume on this tour is a bit like the PR tours, which is a shame.
I'll only say this once but Adam's interpretation of Who wants to live forever blows any of Freddie's live versions our of the water. He doesn't just hit the high notes but does so with great feeling. Always a highlight in the Q+AL shows.
Who says he can't sing ? He was professionally trained, he can sing but he sings some of the songs in annoying way, all those "hey-hey" in a HTF... many of his renditions are in Broadway style. You can have the register but if you don't have the timbre, depth / roughness, texture, coloratura of the voice then it will be really difficult or even impossible to present these songs in the same way that Freddie did it. Why the heck they removed Freddie out of the BoRhap ? They should have left them where they were and instead of Day-Oh perform another song. The set-list is disappointing and I don't understand them, you can play hits but if you're "hiding" (in a sense) a tremendous songs from your career then you're tarnishing a legacy.
They really have some fantastic songs which prove that they weren't / aren't a greatest hits band.
If all the recent events (Q+AL in the documentary ; removing Freddie from the show ; QAL in Queen in 3D) are a way of saying "Guys, we're moving on, we have Adam now" then someone lost his mind here.
I saw them recently, for the first time. I agree, it was a great evening and a fine way to spend 2 hours. Very enjoyable. The setlist could have been better of course.
Once you ignore the way Lambert is singing then I agree with you. The concert is live, truly live, no backing tapes except for BoRhap and the show is enjoyable.
"blows any of Freddie's live versions our of the water. He doesn't just hit the high notes but does so with great feeling"
I've never actually seen a log of baloney before, that's impressive.
Half the time he's pitchy when he 'hits' those notes, and to be honest it's not a nice tone of voice he's employing to get up there. Sounds like any low rent contestant on a TV show is likely to sound, which is ironic because when he WAS one, he was singing a lot better!
"blows any of Freddie's live versions our of the water. He doesn't just hit the high notes but does so with great feeling" LOL, please...........it's actually hurts
I agree about WWTLF. It's suited to him brilliantly and I would bet money they know this and release a version of it. Would've been great for Christmas. You know, for charity.
I also agree about the set lists being pretty safe - however it was the left field song selection that made me go and see them in 2012 after the live stream of the debut show. I couldn't believe it!
