Hi everyone.
As you'll all know, I've been collaborating with CM these last couple of weeks over the clean-up of Earls Court.
In the last few days though, his computer monitor has been flickering a lot and today it died.
The guy doesn't have a lot of money and as there are plenty of us on QZ who really appreciate the hard work and time he puts into the videos that he does, I think it would be really nice gesture if some of us could spare him just a couple of euros each which would be enough to buy him a new monitor.
So what do you folks think?
Can you spare a euro or two to get the guy back on his feet?
Comments welcome please as to the best way to do this: direct paypal payment to him or do a proper crowdfund?
We should definitely help out on this one! Chief Mouse has brought so much joy with his great work. I will contribute if there is enough members behind this to reach the goal.
I'm in! I believe crowdfunding sites retain a percentage of the funds raised - I'd prefer to see 100% of my donation go to the cause so Paypal sounds like the way forward from my point of view.
What's the total we're looking to reach?
I think anyone who contributes with such great stuff like Chief Mouse absolutely deserve some donations, as symbolic as they may be and as high as possible. Help them keep up with their great work!
Chief has spent a lot of time getting us to see better quality videos. I agree to help you, put your paypal and help him now.
Sorry for my google english.
Guys, the response in this thread is amazing. I cannot thank you enough! I hate to be a beggar but this time my financial situation took a hit during last couple of months due to several unforseen events. Brianswig suggested me crowdfunding a long time ago when I was slowly upgrading my PC (big thanks to Simon for his spare parts!). I was flat out against it. This time it feels somewhat appropriate since lately Queen videos eat up almost all my spare time and without monitor I can do pretty much nothing. It might take a while till I save up for one. Once again, thanks to everybody who feels like helping out.
Earls Court definitive edition is in the works and fairly near completion. I don't know if that counts as a reward but that is what I can offer in return.
As far as monitor, I am looking at something like 1080p, 24", IPS. About 150 eur should just enough for something like that.
My paypal is - rudolf.greeva@gmail.com . If the goal is reached, I will post an update on it. Feel free to comment the amounts, so that everything is fair and transparent.
EDIT : The goal is reached and it happened much faster than I would have thought! I thank you all :-) I mean really, sincerely. I have yet to find a certain model, if anyone feels like making a suggestion or recommendation, feel free!
Paypal's friends and family option is best idea. More than happy to help out - Chief's contributions to this community are immense, it's about time I did my bit to say thanks!
As for the old monitor, the backlight died. I tested it on my friend's laptop. 2 seconds on (dark image), then it goes off completely. Can't enter "Menu" either, which confirms the issue.

On top of getting a new monitor, why don't you ask someone at an electronics store to diagnose it and get a budget for a fix? It might be worth it for you to have a secondary screen if you are so much into video edition.

Guys, you have done much more than I imagined! The sum reached is large enough for a monitor and some external storage which I lack lately (it is somewhat crucial when working with full concerts, especially Earls Court which needs timecode masking). Thank you all.
