Reports are that Chester Bennington is dead.
Suicide.
I have openly HATED their band Linkin Park. ..but this shit has got to stop. Is there some kind of drug being passed around causing ppl to turn in on themselves or what?
The guy was young ish and they'd just released another project.
^ that's what I'm asking. Is it a drug association?
These guys HAVE mostly had dependency issues before but what's bringing this shit out when success and stability seem to be there.
Is it an attempt to try to get back to "old inspiration"?
I wouldn't think so or it'd be a bunch of overdoses instead of hangings
They say he's Chris Cornell 's child's godfather
I am, in equal measure, both sad and pissed off about this. In the final analysis, I respect any adult's right to end their life at a time of their choosing but undoubtedly this has caused a lot of people a lot of pain, and it sets a grim and unwelcome example for younger fans.

Not only that, but he killed himself on Cornell's birthday.
And we've had plenty of overdoses too.
It's not stability. This kind of success doesn't bring stability - it brings industry pressures that none of us can imagine. The pressure to continue to create art at the same standard you once did (especially when it once made a lot of big wigs a lot of money) is something most of us will never be able to relate to. Those pressures have always been there, but they are exponentially amplified in today's industry compared to a few decades ago.

There's that part of me that feels like these guys owe it to their kids and their fans to set that positive example - but it is that very pressure that some of these guys just can't handle.
Never mind the fans - it's his kids who have the biggest loss. And it's up to us to try to imagine his level of pain if he's convinced that it's worse than the pain his kids will feel after his passing.
It’s not a drug issue at all actually, he struggled with alcoholism and depression. There wasn't even any drugs found at the scene.
So many people who looked up to him were heartbroken and confused, but that’s the thing about mental health. It needs to be talked about more so more people understand where people like Chester are coming from.
