Hi Guys,
wanted to know what you think of both gentlemen this tour with Adam.
My opinion: they both play a very solid show each time and seem to be very fit for their age. Though Brian seems to have some knee problems again and seems to avoid the running during the show very often
I do miss a certain 'risk' and freshness in the song they play. When I compare Brian's playing to the old days he now seems to play each song pretty much the same each night. For instance the end solo of KiIller Queen, hammer to Fall intro into main solo, guitar solo etc.
They seem to be better rehearsed for this tour, and are possibly playing better than last time out.
Having said that Roger seems to be relying on Tyler a lot. I was watching Cream live at the Royal Albert Hall, the gigs that were filmed about 10 years ago, a few nights ago. Ginger Baker would have been in his 60's and his playing is far better than the level Roger has been at since 2012.
Saw them 7 times during the Q+PR gigs.
There was even a difference noticeable between the 2005 and the 2008 shows.
Saw them once this time round (last tour) and although it was nice to hear certain songs live for the first time and I loved seeing Brian and Roger one final time I really thought to myself it would be best if they'd call it a day.
Having said that. They of course can do whatever they want. It's their band. Their name. Their job.
I wouldn't pay money for another Queen+ gig ever again though. Maybe only time I'd like to see them again is if they'd do smaller sized "May&Taylor" gigs.
i think they seem to just play the songs largely how they were originally recorded. And "slowly". not much "energy" if you compare it to when they were with Freddie. I will say that i have little technical musical knowledge so could be talking a load of crap.
I agree with almost every comment on this thread to date. It's perhaps a little too rehearsed sounding, at times very sluggish tempo-wise. Although I "get" why they're trying to up their game in terms of precision in their playing. I just don't think that's always the best way to go when playing for a live crowd. Can't please everyone, I guess.
I watched several shows on YouTube these weeks. Did the tempo difference Each show? Notice Some songs are played even slower than on the record
Also key changes probably. STL is played in " G" rather than "Ab" ??
