This was interesting, so, Did Paul Rodgers kill off the Anthology? They talk about how projects come about and how somethings a project will get killed or changed due to the circumstances within the bands world, and they discuss how the collaboration with Paul changed/killed a project they were working on, which to my mind may well have been the anthology? I would guess at that point the band felt they were pretty much over as a touring band, and probably recording too?, so a good point to start work on the anthology given how well teh Freddie one went down... but along comes the project with Paul and all that stops... they are still touring, recording and a working band, pointless to do an anthology???
When they do finally hang up the drumsticks and guitar I hope this sees the light of day, I really do, but maybe just wishful thinking, that being said i'd far rather go hear them now and wait for it!
I think it was said a while ago that they perceived the Anthology as beong the final thing ever released.
Since they seem to be having trouble releasing a full live concert on DVD every year, maybe they'll get through releasable material sooner than later.
I just hope they release an Anthology before I die.

A completely unattributed quote, provided by "Kes" on QOL. It doesn't really make sense, because everyone knows Queen are long gone - Brian and Roger are not part of a creative entity, they tour as part of a tribute act called Queen+. Even Brian with his ego problems knows you can't resurrect a band over a decade later without the singer.
Roger and/or Brian have just decided they don't want to delve into the archives for the fanbase's pleasure. They allowed themselves to be forced into the 5 tracks bonus CDs, and probably even regret doing that. They won't release an anthology before at least Brian dies, so hopefully you're a bit younger than him!
Sidarta's interlude will be on the record, prior to WWRY(F). According to Greg, the label wanted the 6 cd edition to have a balance between interviews and songs. Maybe that explains why we have a 3rd full cd with several songs instead of having a 3rd cd with just the Golders Green show...

I concur with that hypothesis, though I think they'd have been better off just NOT adding Morumbi and Mannheim highlights - all it's done is piss off the fans who are now going to hear "highlights" of two concerts in (hopefully) amazing sound, knowing that there's a very good chance they'll never hear the full thing except on bootleg.
It's carrot dangling - no highlights would be better than some in this instance.
Also, if the songs were carefully chosen for "balance", why the F did they miss off "Need Your Loving Tonight"????
Hopefully one day they'll release a live CD set which will include one complete concert from each tour they did: and if that means using Radio broadcasts, then so be it.

There could also been a place for "Another One Bites The Dust" or (much as I dislike the track) "I Want To Break Free". Equally, and more tellingly there should, 100%, have been a place for "You And I" on "Deep Cuts" and more particularly, "Forever". I've said it before but where the hell was the justification for "'39" and "Drowse" on a compilation based on a theme of love.
Is there a common thread there?
I'm just being cynical though...............
I'm done buying Queen stuff, I wanted a 70's Concert and got it with the Rainbow box. We got plenty of 80's stuff already, all great stuff I might add... so what's left?....a late 70's show perhaps, but there really is nothing that interests me anymore....I'll pass on the queen on air release...I passed on that ballads album they did (I forget the name) let me in your heart was a good song that could have been saved for the long awaited anthology set...I'm guessing Brian and Roger are done being creative, the last quality album they did was when Freddie was still alive, or at least had his vocals on it with MIH. The only thing left is the Anthology set, That's the only thing I'll spend my money on at this point.. The only thing that excites me....1999 was the original date it was supposed to be released.
