The quality is awesome and this footage is further proof of how truly mindblowing a live release of this concert could be! I'm sure an official release - when done properly - can provide truly wonderful audio and video quality. The performance is just so good. Listen to Freddie's voice in Don't stop me now... So fresh, exciting and Mercurial... We've become a whole lot wiser the last few years and it looks like eventually all those classis concerts will be released. What an astounding live catalogue Queen will have!! (even now it's not too shabby! ;-) |

I don't understand why they still insist in not releasing great stuff like this. This was never ever before released properly and it's a mind blowing performance, also the setlist is very nice. I hope the re-think of putting out some Queen live material this year. So far we have "official info" about some Freddie surprises. I wonder whatever happened to hyde park or Knebworth park. |
Doga 01.06.2016 22:54 |
Let's be honest, Rainbow and Hammersmith were a great surprises, and it seems this year the BBC Sessions will be released. Last decade QP released 3 shows, Wembley, MK Bowl and Montreal. This decade Budapest, Rainbow, Hammy 75 and BBC, and probably more to come. They are doing good. Of course, as a fan, i'm dying for Earl's Court and Hammy 79. |

Love the Hammy 1979 show. That show needs to have an official release! |

I wish Queen did this last decade, as mine interest in the band waned, as the result, and I moved on to other bands spending less on Queen in the process. |

^I guess the new releases would help bring back fans, as well gain new ones. My interest in Queen waned for a while until Rainbow came out, I got hooked to their earlier stuff since then |

I'm sure Brian stated a few years ago, the only reason Hammy 79 hasn't been released is because the Multi-tracks are missing. The Mutli's for all the other bands that performed at the event have been found but not Queen's set. I presume Queens strict quality control means that they would not be happy just using the existing stereo mix. |

I can only hope the master audio tapes have shown up somewhere since then. Such a shame that they wouldn't consider a stereo mix release - many bands have done this with old gigs that they don't have masters to, and to much acclaim. Sadly they (Brian?) don't seem comfortable enough in their own skin to release something 'warts n all', and want to correct every slightest bum note. Ironically this is one gig which is pretty great, both set wise and performance wise! And to think, conversly in the last couple of years they have been happy to release a 'straight rip from VHS' of the diabolical (both audio and video quality wise) Rio concerts because they could get a quick and easy £££ return. (that DVD is still available in the QOL store btw). |

As usual, Brian's ego seems to be the problem. Hammersmith is a great show but there are some imperfections he would want to change such as the last solo on an otherwise excellent version of Save me, at 3:00 of this video: link But of course it's already out there, and casual fans don't tend to buy these release anyway so his reputation would hardly be tarnished by one slightly duff solo. ps someone referred to Queen's strict quality control -- I presume that was a joke? :) |

I would love to see an official release of the complete 1st night as Freddie was in great voice even though the band was a little under-rehearsed. That could be easily be tidied-up. The 2nd weekend's performance Fred sounds awful so I'm not bothered about that one. |

If they don't have the multitracks they won't be able to autotune (as if there's any need) Freddie's vocals and compress the drum sound to shit. The original mix works nicely. |

Actually the impromptu from the 2nd night sounds great, and they don't mess up the transition to It's A Hard Life, but other than that I agree. |

I was disappointed about the heavy handed compression on the Rainbow Blu-ray & CD. The Stereo Mix sounds very harhs where the peaks have been clipped and there simply is no need for it. The Surround mix was markedly better. |

Which version had a 5.1 mix ? This is completely news to me. |
Toozeup 15.06.2016 03:08 |
The Rainbow DVD & Blu-ray feature a surround mix. A proper one as opposed the up-mix used for the Wembley gigs. |
