The ohter day the user ChinWonder had a question regarding a bit of footage from Knebworth, i think the question was, where did it come from? Well, seeing this and seeing that The knebworth footage is very limited and separated on different documentaries i decided to make a video with every single snippet of pro-shot footage available. I think i got it(almost) all covered. I uploaded it to YT. The quality is very poor, but it is mainly to have an idea of all the material there is regarding this concert. link Footage taken from the following sources -The Freddie Mercury tribute concert DVD 2 (2002 release) -The final Tour (from the 2011 Wembley DVD) -A Magic year (from the 2012 hungarian rhapsody Blu Ray) -Champions of the world Documentary -Rare Live -The Magic Years Vol. 3 -DoRo 1995 unreleased Freddie Mercury documentary |

Thanks! This is cool. Didn't know that much existed! it would be awesome if you said where the footage comes from, I know some comes from Rare Live and various other documentaries. :) -Chin |

There's no way the backstage footage being shown on the big screen above the stage isn't from the same camera footage that it shown prior to that shot. It was always fairly obvious that the "big screen" footage existed, I think that confirms they do indeed have it in their archives.... I mean Brian even confirmed that, then backtracked at some point. |

I just realized how clear some of the footages are, especially around the 4:30-5:00 timer where it shows Freddie. I'm amazed those even existed in such quality. They remind me of Hungarian Rhapsody a bit. Thanks a bunch for compiling these clips! |

And they found the actual tape!! :-) :-) :-) The Hammy'75 multi track was also believed to have been wiped.... And that one was found! Hopefully the same will happen with the Hammy'79 multitrack !!! |
There's no way the backstage footage being shown on the big screen above the stage isn't from the same camera footage that it shown prior to that shot.
You mean apart from the fact that the Doro Footage is shot from the Side and back and the Screen footage is shot from the front, evident from the placement of the man in the yellow shirt. Let's iognor this and pretend it's identical. |

Thank you very much... This historic concert MUST be released one day. It doesn't matter it is from f..cking big screen or not. Release what you have in the archives and please stop lying about "forgotten recording" nonsense. Greg Brooks said one time they have big screen footage... |

Interesting, has anyone checked which song is being played from 4:40 - 4:55? (by comparing to the screen shot) |
Doga 14.03.2016 21:40 |
Bohemian Rhapsody & Hammer to Fall. It was filmed by the DoRo crew, but standing near a camera used in the big screen, as both angles are "near" identical. |

I've seen a version where it's mixed into the screen footage, and it's a seamless transition. The footage exists. It's just a matter of how much they have. |
The footage is identical to what was on the screen - it's the same source.
But It isn't. It's really not from the screen feed. There are two bits, including the "Thank you you've been a wonderful audience" part that are really close, but they are not. If you get the two videos side by side, in the screen footage, roger is almost fully aligned with freddy when he bows his head, in the Pro shot he's JUST at his cape. Then when john is inline with freddie in the Screen footage Roger has disapeared off screen, While you can still see roger in the pro footage, There is a point where all three overlap in the pro footage because the angle isn't the same. You are thinking of pittrek's video, the reasonit matches is becuase only freddie is on screen at the switch, a few frames later and it wouldn't match up. |
emrabt 15.03.2016 07:00 |
link The screen footage has Roger out of shot just as John comes into frame, the Pro shot footage has them on screen enough to overlap Freddie. And the pro shot is a wider view too. It's amazing, totally unlikely and unbelievable but true, two cameras. |
Jake12 15.03.2016 10:51 |
Absolutely right about this! I always thought it was the same camera but it isn't the Doro camera is literally right next to the big screen camera! Made a quick comparison video: link |
BETA215 15.03.2016 11:35 |
^ You can also recognize it's a different cam given that the Queen one zooms earlier and cut that triangle thing at the border, while the DoRo footage makes a zoom a little later, cutting the triangle in a different way and later. |

Obviously I might have missed some snippets here and there, but I went through pretty much the whole of Knebworth a few years ago, I'm sure no pro stuff that's currently available matches the screen. That's not to say it doesn't exist, but nothing of what we have seen is from the screen. I'm an obsessive saddo in my own way. My money is on something very close to this regarding placement: http://www.queenlive.ca/queen/live%20pics/86-08-09_Knebworth_25.jpg I can't find one proving they were both there when queen were playing, But that's Quo, same day, place time and crew, it proves both the Doro and the Screen cameras were about at the left side of the stage. EDIT: link Look at the left side of the stage. You can just about see Both of them and later on the the night too. |
Planetgurl 15.03.2016 14:07 |
There was a professional camera on a tripod pointing at the stage from the guest enclosure too. Whether that was filming the entire evening I don't know but it was there that afternoon with no one by it - I remember that... It was up against the first fence (there were two, an inner and an outer one with struts in between them holding each apart. |

The question is... over the last 30 years, there is any video or documentary showing even a couple of seconds of the big screen feed? If i'm not mistaken, to date, the only pro-footage we have seen of Knebworth comes from the DoRo crew and TV news. Is not something definitive of course, i'm thinking in how the footage from Wembley first night was kept in darkness till the first release of Wembley in DVD. |

My old Wembley DVD doesn't have that gig. Looking at the friday show it's pretty apparent it was initially considered as a rehearsal for the saturday show, as far as filming is concerned. There's less cameras rolling and some of the filming and camera-angles are a bit dodgy. Musically I think the friday gig shadows the saturday one though. |

For the first time in years I listened to the complete show. It's probably my favourite magic tour show. It has both the great playing and a crazy audience. It would be a stunning live album. And any footage from that day is a lovely bonus. |
