In 1987 and 1988 Freddie and Montserrat were given a few public performances: several interviews, premiere of the song on Ibiza and a performance for La Nit.
Many years ago I met on YouTube a short video of Montserrat appeared on stage and then asked Freddy to come up on stage. Freddie was dressed in the costume from the videoclip ''Barcelona'', so I think it was 1987. Somebody knows about this video?
The only two performances i'm aware of both Freddie and Montserrat are in the Club Ku in Ibiza and in a festival in Barcelona for the Olympics in 1988. Both were recorded by the national television, i think. link link
I think you mean Montserrat's recital of Exercises In Free Love at Covent Garden in 1987 with Mike Moran.
She dedicated it to Freddie who was sitting in the audience and later came on stage to take a bow.
The day after he did the DoRo interview next to the jukebox where he addressed the concert.
Nice, had never seen that clip of Freddie going up on the stage.
There's also this short ad hoc interview with Freddie and Monstserrat at Covent Garden (many of you might have seen it already): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2alO0GlB7kU
Fabulous - never seen either of the clips before; it would be nice to see more of the clip when Freddie joined her onstage - it seemed to have been cut there. There also must be many more interview clips from the Barcelona launch - I'm surprised more haven't surfaced before.
This is what I could decipher from Fred's voice - I only used Spanish to check if what I transcripted had sense. This is almost literally what he said:
"At that time, I mean, they asked me "Who's my favourite singer?", and I said: Montsy. And I had told to my friends, I didn't (say or faked?) that because I was in Barcelona 'cause it's (no?) fawning.
And then, after that I mean, ???, working with her was like a dream, you know. Of course I thought about our (both?), I wondered if our voices will match or if she'll accept it. And I think the rumour went round, from the record company to my friends and everything, and she was approached. So I asked her that, and she said "Yes!". It was just (a good thing?) and I went in Barcelona, the first time I played her a few tunes, and she liked it. And now she's a rock'n'roller."
