Second to my post about Brian's solo box set…
Any news about the videos coming out again (and hopefully in 4:3 this time!) obviously retaining the gorgeous 5.1 mixes.
Thanks!!

They put the entire GH I on youtube as Xmas present. I was disappointed to see it was only the DVD 16:9 version.
Thing is, i was thrilled when i first buy that DVD and watched the videos back then.
There has been no mention of a bluray promo set since Rhys Thomas (I think it was) mentioned it at convention at least 5 years ago.
Now, with what I've heard, QPL are having a problem with DoRo, in that DoRo believe that everything filmed by them is THEIR copyright ans as such belongs to them, and if QPL want to use any of it then QPL will have to pay for it!
QPL, quite rightly, firmly believe that all material belongs to THEM, but since everything shot by DoRo resides in DoRo's archives which, again I gather, are split between Munich and Vienna, doesn't make it easy and this, I gather, is the reason we have nothing filmed by DoRo on the cards for release.
What makes it more complicated is that Hannes & Rudi have apparantly split, so there's potential in-fighting there.
If all I've posted above IS actually the truth (or even somewhere close to it), then it may be a while before things get sorted out.
Perhaps QPL will ultimately have to fork out some money to DoRo just to get access to what should be their own late 80's onwards archive....

Very informative post, thank you.
And, as some men just want to watch the world burn, and i'm in that mood, i'm going to say just one thing. KNEBWORTH :)
So when they're in the spotlight of the camera and the documentary is about them (DoRo and not Queen) they get all watery-eyed when Freddie is mentioned but at the same time they demand money for even searching in their archives (as mentioned by Rhys Thomas in his reddit Q&A). That's hypocrisy.
Surely Jim Beach have somewhere a contract signed between Queen and DoRo back in the day......

Not sure how your German is and if you have seen some of the "Dolezal backstage" episodes, but Rudi says multiple times during each episode "Hannes Rossacher, my former partner, now my ex-partner" and he suddenly seems full of anger and hate for few seconds.

There would be legal agreements that state on what basis DoRo were employed and who owns what,
What about the Queen and Cross promo vids produced by DoRo that HAVE been released on DVD? Is the actual issue that DoRo have material in their archives that QPL don't, and QPL want it handed over for free? I'm pretty sure there's usually been a DoRo copyright stated on previous video releases....

================================
That explains the lack of bonus material on the DVD for Budapest which was shot by DORO
Further info tells me that Queen own the completed products, but the rushes are held by DoRo and it's those they want. Makes sense to me - go back to then original footage and re-edit to get the highest quality.
