I want you guys to tell me what you think the best Queen guitar solo is, live or studio (Excluding Brighton Rock solos) I think an obvious contender is Flick Of The Wrist... and then theres Great King Rat which is also mesmerising, and hey, who said it had to be electric guitar? 1st solo in Innuendo? Another great one is Stone Cold Crazy... must be so difficult to play, then theres The Millionire Waltz, which is less Rock N Roll but something more different. Your thoughts? |

A guitar Solo that gets over looked is 'Put Out The Fire' I love it! |

Good Company. It's pure genius - arranging a Dixieland jazz band for guitar. There's nothing like it, before or since. |

Just to rock the boat.... With Queen: Bijou After Queen : You Don't Fool Me not bad considering it's fighting against such distinctive stuff as "GOFLB", "KQ", "TSMGO", "BoRhap" and even "WWTLF"...particularly so late in his career |

Flick of the wrist and killer Queen. Sublime. And then we have the luxury of all the aforementioned efforts that run them close to enjoy. |

Good Company is far and away Brian's best work. However, the solos I'm most fond of are Scandal, All Dead All Dead, Sail away Sweet Sister and The Hero (Flash OST, when the Flash theme reprises after the Hero has ended. Really melodic -- and heroic!). |

WWTLF is an awesome solo.... I also have a soft spot for All Gods People, and live, AKOM always sounds tremendous |

I don't know if it's the best, but I love the All Dead, All Dead guitar & organ solo. |

scottmax wrote: WWTLF is an awesome solo.... It adds an incredible dimension to the song and isn't just tacked on with an orchestra (*like metallicrap did) His playing is very diverse spatially and very very emotive. Beautiful stuff. Tough category |
Bike It 80 22.11.2015 07:40 |
Brian was so creative in his solos, like the aforementioned Dixieland jazz band solo in "Good Company", that's pure genius. Or the "Bicycle Race" solo, designed to evoke two cyclists racing against each other, really clever! Other personal favourites : In the Lap of the Gods, Bo Rhap, WWRY, Sail Away Sweet Sister, Dragon Attack, Put Out the Fire, AKOM, The Invisible Man, TATDOOL. |

I forgot to mention Back Chat solo from Milton Keynes. That solo is epicly brilliant. |
Sheer Brass Neck 22.11.2015 11:19 |
It's Late. Such an emotional story, the fact he's tapping in 1977 is inconsequential, just think the solo mirrors the darkness and anxiety of the lyrics and singing. Good solos aren't getting the song from Point A to Point C, they're an integral part of the song. |

Imagine Brian playing all those solos in a medley at the olympics... |
TheAdmiester 22.11.2015 16:17 |
Days of Our Lives is by far the most emotional and one of the best. In terms of catchy/awesomeness I'd say Ride the Wild Wind or You Don't Fool Me. Of his solo work, I'd say Resurrection has some amazing guitar bits although too many to single one out. |
Costa86 22.11.2015 18:08 |
You Don't Fool Me - one of the best solos ever. |

White Queen live. I also agree with Biggus Dickus on It's a Hard Life and Back Chat live. |

IMHO there is only a few that are "not so good". In most of the Queen songs Brian's solos are my favorite parts of the song. If I make list of favorites there will be at least 30- 40 songs I have to write. Brian was a great composer and musician and his Red Special has always lifted Queen songs to upper levels. Just to name a few here are some of the solos I like a lot: The Millionare Waltz Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy Killer Queen Innuendo I Can't Live With You Ride The Wild Wind Love Of My Life Who Wants To Live Forever Bohemian Rhapsody Hammer To Fall (both live and single versions) It's A Hard Life You Don't Fool Me Heaven For Everyone I Was Born To Love You I want It All Scandal My Life Has Been Saved Delilah I'm Going Slightly Mad.... and so on..... |

Ride The Wild Wind You Don't Fool Me It's Late Millionaire Waltz I could blast those over and over again. Brian was/is pure genius. |

Rain Must Fall, an underrated solo that should have lasted so much more. I wonder how much of it exists in the masters. Pure genuis Brian May. |
