Thanks guys and all the best StuWhy repeating Queen Forever recently released as a vinyl boxset? There is no band in the whole world that releases a GH album on vinyl as part of a boxset. |

the GHs would be overkill - so i agree with them not being included The Live albums would have been nice - but are not ready for CD or digital release yet... really hoping for big plans... Also if you include Live Killers and Live Magic... then shouldn't we also get Wembley, BBC, Montreal, the Bowl and the Rainbow Shows? so i agree with this as again - it would be going overboard for one instalment... we go from 18 discs to an additional 2+1+3+1+3+3+4, for a total of 35 discs... then we can say...well what about the bonus tracks on the latest CD release? again... it;s getting expensive. Using US dollars... a regular RP1 goes for roughly 450$... now they're adding the 24v motor - which goes for about 100$... custom queen logos.,.. maybe another 75$. I don't think 625$ is out of the question...maybe 725$ with the optional Bias 2 cartridge (which normally goes for 150). to compare... an RP1 (rb101 arm + 12V motor + carbon cart) retails at 450$. an RP3 (rb303 arm + 24v motor + NO cart) retails around 900$... so really this should sit somewhere in the middle. IF the Queen rega goes for anything more than 650 without a cartridge... and you don't need the "Queen" logo but you are in the budget for the turntable and want an incredible one for value... buy the RP3 instead. Sounds miles better than the RP1, you "can" upgrade if you ever wish and best of all it carries a close to MSRP resale value. |

Hi I get this message from the German Rega distribution: vielen Dank für ihr Interesse an der neuen Rega Queen Edition. |

preordered in Germany and confirmed so there are only 199 pieces for Germany, Austria and Switzerland :-) |

Rega turntables aren't sold on a mass production basis. You go to the hi-fi store, they usually have a demo... Based on demand, these stores will buy a few extra to make a quick sale... however generally they'll only receive them on order. You just put a deposit or whatnot and get it within 2-4 weeks. They aren't cheap turntables, etc. Each one is made by hand at their plant. Like i mentioned earlier, the RP1 is their bottom of the line product... it sells for 450USD. The Queen table is actually the bottom of the line turntable with adequate upgrades. But Rega's bottom is still a very well made and great sounding product. |

My dad got me an RP1 for Christmas when I was around 13 or 14 back in the late 80s. They're good turntables. My brother, to this day still has his RP2. The RP1 roughly goes for around £230. You'll see the different models and prices here (this is my local hi fi dealer)... link |

I know a lot about this stuff.. you actually had the planar 1...and your brother the planar 2. the rp1 is the new generation combination of the planar 1 + planar 2, The Queen Rega is actually a modified (upgraded) rp1. The big difference is that it has a quieter motor.. as such you can expect a 300GBP selling price or possibly a tad bit more. |
Day dop 30.07.2015 15:19 |
What I owned was a Planar 1, made by Rega, hence I wrote 'RP1' (Rega Planar 1). What my brother got back in the late 80s was a Planar 2, made by Rega, hence I wrote 'RP2' (Rega Planar 2). Just like when someone writes (for example) SHA for Sheer Heart Attack, or ADATR for A Day At The Races. I've not really followed that closely as I've got Linn gear these days. |
Jimmy Dean 30.07.2015 23:12 |
yea. rega's not that creative with the names... first gen was planar 1,2,3... then p1, p3, p5, etc. now it's rp1, rp3, rp6, rp8, rp10. i had an RP1, sold it - got a planar 3, sold that - now i'm with an RP6. Eventually, I'll follow your lead and dish out for an LP12 (Linn) (which second hand goes for as about as much as a brand spanking new RP6) |

In order to find out if the forthcoming vinyl albums will be any good, I'll buy one - just one - and play it at the same time as the 2011 remaster CDs, switching between the two. I'm not sure which album to try really. If the first one I do try is any good, then I'll probably get more. I guess being sceptical of how they're going to turn out is a good reason for buying one first, as opposed to the box set. The other reason is that I don't like the coloured vinyl at all. At least when you buy them individually you get standard vinyl. |
