Below are observations I have about songs on the current tour: Now I'm Here was a class song to open the concerts with - can't believe they replaced it with One Vision which doesn't really fit in, in my opinion (Brian always seems to make mistakes on it too!) I wish Roger would change the drum beat on We Will Rock You - add in a shuffle or something, or do variations like the News of the World Tour. Also I wish Brian would modify the solo to make it better - he always does the same variation on it (as well perhaps play some guitar over the vocals which he used to do every now and again while touring back in the day) Drop the Show Must Go On and I Want It All - I don't think they sound well live and aren't needed as there's enough anthems there anyway - The Show Must Go On always sounds terrible live (Elton John did a good version in 1997, besides that there's not much). Brian did sing I Want It All in 2005 in Birmingham and it sounded class, but ordinarily it's too "goofy", although nice to see they don't skip the guitar riff on the album version towards the 3/4 stage. PIANO - I wish Brian would play piano, e.g. on Save Me...this is the one thing I would love to hear live, Queen playing the piano. I know Freddie was the piano player, but the piano sound was central to Queen, even if it was Brian doing it for bits (e.g. Flash would be cool to hear) We Are The Champions - this needs a makeover. I even used to find this song boring when Freddie did it towards the last tours. It's like they should have added some variation to it. Drop the guitar solo (this has been flagged before) Do a longer acoustic set I like the bass solo's - anything with rhythm is good! Bring back 2005 drum solo (drum solo's are normally boring, but Roger's one's (covers) in the 2000's and beyond were fantastic) |

I'd say bring back Now I'm Here, but keep One Vision as the opener, I think that works pretty well.........perfect opening bit with the synth intro before the curtain goes up, and then there's the silhouette of Brian playing the riff for a few seconds, awesome moment! I could take or leave IWIA really, but keep TSMGO.......I think Adam does a good job on it, and I even like Paul singing it...... I do like the new arrangement of Save Me, but I would love to see Brian playing piano on it! And a longer acoustic set would be interesting, what other songs would they do, I wonder? Teo Torriate (even tho its never played outside of Japan now!), Long Away (Brian did do it a few times it the PR tours), or YMBF, like the one time in 2012? |

Id quite like to see them open with the opera/Rock section of borhap like on the Opera tour and do a medley of the ballad killer queen etc |

Such a boring set list. They played almost the same in 2012 and 2014. I would add Innuendo (I don't know why they never played it, apart from the Freddie Tribute), Hammer to Fall, Headlong, White Queen, and Breakthru maybe...and drop IWBF, DSMN, and Im fed up with WWRY and WATC as encores. They say that Queen never liked to repeat the same, but since 1977 they finish the show with the same tracks... |

Bring Back That Leroy Brown! Let Us Cling Together at the rhythm of Teo Torriate! Play The Game! Do the Ballads Medley like in the Rainbow! Play more progressive rock! |

IMO it's useless to discuss wich song they should play or wich the don't. I don;t think they listen to a single of us all. But....... i think in the light of "the new album" it would be clever to play 2 or 3 new songs, I thought they played Love kills before and LMIYHA would have been nice too. |

Obviously they're doing something right. They'll never change WWRY and WATC. Those songs have been played back to back on the radio since 1977. Inserting All Right Now between them was kind of interesting a few years back, but let's call a spade a spade - it works. If it didn't, they'd change it. |

So frustrating for them to have worked up Love Kills and I Was Born To Love You, only to not play them so far in the UK |

Personally, I believe they should play more Abba-songs. Somehow Queen shows never include Abba songs, or Bee Gees songs for that matter. Stick Stayin' Alive inbetween WWRY and WATC, and spice it up with a harpsichord solo. Queen shows are woefully short on harpsichord songs, and Abba and harpsichord music are my favourites, Why do Queen never listen to the fans? It's an outrage! I think it's Adam Lambert's fault, because he's gay and chucked Freddie out of the band. Adam Lambert will FAIL, because he was not Freddie favourite singer. And he couldn't play the harpsichord to save his life. And he's gay and can't sing I'm In Love With My Car the way Freddie did. |

Queen (e.g Brian & Roger) are getting somewhat sloppy (rhythmically speaking and from a timing point of view). I know they are getting old ...still .... During the O2 gig Brian completely messed up the intro-solo of One Vision (or there was a technical hick up that I am not aware of). Save me (the ”Queen AL” version) just sucks in my opinion.. Instead of starting with appella intro, an accompanying piano (Brian!) would absolutely sound way better. Also in this version Spike's keyboards come in a bar too late (!) also the 2nd part of the verse the piano and Brian's guitar are off for just 0,5 second (timing wise). During the guitar solo the piano is ”missing” (as Spike pays strings on his keyboard) which makes it sound dull and boring. What's with the outro of Save Me, did Roger just forgot to hit his drums on the last bar? Regarding Who Wants To Love Forever, can't Brian and Roger tell Adam that the vocal is off (timing wise) during the 2nd phrase of the 1st verse? Seal made the same stupid mistake during the FM tribute, but when I hear AL sing it I can't imagine that he's not being told to change it. During Fat Bottomed Girls (at the O2), the guitar part (after the vocal intro) is sloppy and therefore AL starts singing a bar too early. Somebody To Love (at the O2): Whats with the messed up part just after the guitar solo? It's not like we are running out of time, do we? I do like the ”quick version” at the end ... it's refreshing! Tie Your Mother Down @London (1st)... did AL just forgot to show up in the beginning and Brian is well ...inserting an additional solo before the vocal starts ? That is just sloppy! Don't get me wrong AL does a great karaoke job at singing Queen songs (and Brian many times DOES hit the right notes) but on the whole it feels sloppy, lifeless, and as if they are on auto-pilot and it seems that they don't care about the details (timing wise or just musically speaking). Just my 2 cents |

Agree about One Vision, I never liked it as opener, I feel there's a huge lack of energy to be the first song. Didnt liked it as opener in the Magic tour, dont like it now. I like IWIA but Adam's voice lack the "punch" the song needs. His lower voice is nice and have the punch needed to make the song sound nice, but for some reason Brian and Roger are not aware or prefer Adam's regular voice. As for Show must go on, they tend to drop it from time to time so I expect it to be dropped once again along with Dont Stop, to be replaced for another songs. The main problem in the set list is that Adam is able to do a great job on all ballads (born to love, love kills, live forever, save me etc) I think they are aware of it and are trying to do more rock songs so I dont expect a longer acoustic set either. I for one, would love to if they play Dreamer's Ball instead of 39 (which is a nice song but it takes SO LONG to be played! Brian talking about whatever he wants, then about Einstein and relativity, then band introduction, then little sound check) I like the current solo, its a nice solo, also, a Queen/Queen+/Brian gig without guitar solo would feel incomplete! I would love to hear Fight From the Inside, the bass sound is AMAZING! |

Seal made the same stupid mistake during the FM tribute, but when I hear AL sing it I can't imagine that he's not being told to change it.I'm assuming you mean the "There's no place for us" line? I compared them a few times, and maybe Adam's a HAIR off, but it's all kinda 'free time' anyway, isn't it? Not like if there were a drumbeat going on and he came in on the wrong beat.....its something you'd really have to listen for, I think, and the song still sounds fine..... |

I don't understand why they dropped TSMGO, the song fix well at the moment, this track after bo hap and before WWRY would be the definitive place. |

There is quite a few issues with this year's setlist. One Vision sucks (as it always did), Now I'm Here was so much better, too many good songs were dropped (Love Kills, TSMGO, In Love With My Car, Born to Love You), they are not brave enough to throw in something really daring at times (Don't Try So Hard comes to mind, as it shines on QF) and certain songs seem to remain in the setlist just for the sake of being hits (IWIA, completely unchanged WWRY). I know, they will never drop Rock You, but it does need some sort of shuffle badly. I could probably go on and on, but simply sticking to the setlist from some US concerts last year would have been fine with me. Maybe they will bring back the slightly more daring Queen to some outdoor gigs in the summer. |
tomchristie22 19.01.2015 08:32 |
I liked One Vision as an opener on the Magic Tour - it was especially stunning on those occasions that Freddie nailed it the whole way through. It's certainly a finer opener than Tear it Up or Tie Your Mother Down was, in my opinion. |

^^ Especially the 2nd Leiden version. That's a killer, killer version of the song. Man, I hope they come back to the states. I never thought I would switch my tune on Lambert (used to be critical - but have mellowed). I saw three shows on that 2014 tour and each was excellent (and they kept getting better)! |
