The Rainbow release was a revelation to me - seeing Freddie talking to the audience so freely. He talks between nearly every song. It's a marked difference from later shows where Freddie seemed more reticent and awkward with his speeches.
"I need to blow the shot out of my nose before I sing. Fuck anybody who doesn't like it," from the Friday Wembley show is a million light years away from the prowling panther of earlier years.
Did anybody who saw them live notice a change in the way he addressed the audience over the years? Or perhaps addressing much larger crowds was just way more daunting?
Any insight would be good.
Perhaps someone could compile an album of his between song patter, like the Having Fun With Elvis Onstage albums? Haha. Then again - maybe not.
Actually Freddie said at wembley "i need to blow the snot out of my nose" and not "shot" like you said lol
Over the years Freddies banter in between songs started off rather softly spoken, regal and camp, and as the years went on turned
macho and course.
Too be honest i thought Freddie in the 70s was so sweet and charming, very shy but lovable.
He never bean throwing glasses of water at the audiences until the late seventies, before that he would toast the audience with champagne,
so regal and very Queen!
Sorry folks, slip of my fingers on the key pad. lol it should have read : He never began throwing glasses of water over the audiences until the late seventies,
before that he would charmingly toast the audience with regal champagne, so classy and very Queen.

Hmm...also it should be "to" rather than "too be honest" and "coarse" rather than "course"
Freddie changed the way he addressed audiences to suit the increased size of venues. The gentle champagne sipping Freddie of the mid 70's that Gerry mentioned would have bombed in wembley stadium 86 or south America in 81
