You forgot the recordings from: 5 live: Queen+ George Michael - Somebody to Love Queen+ George Michael and Lisa Standfield - These are the days of our Lives GH III: Queen+ Elton John - Show Must Go On and Q+PR |
Lplix 25.10.2014 01:05 |
.....don't forget Another One Bites The Dust by Queen+Annie Crummer (australian WWRY cast and promo CD single) |
inu-liger 25.10.2014 01:39 |
@ tero! 48531 & Lplix: Fixed. I was looking at the individual collaborations but forgot to also look at the albums, hence the accidental Q+PR omission. Strangely I had the Annie Crummer in the remix list at first when I was compiling, dunno how it disappeared there. @ winterspelt: Live recordings don't count, unless that's what Michael also wants added in. I think this was about just songs recorded in the studio. |

^ In that case should Jessie J be listed? Or is that because it was an officially released live bit... |

Geddy - I Want It All/We Will Rock You (Mash Up) Queen + VonLichten - We Will Rock You ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hi R, This IS an interesting Topic, but what exactly defines a "Queen+" venture? is it something that has been officially released and bears the name Queen? Or is it something that Queen have guested on that has been released officially? I notice that you have included "Queen+ Jessie J" well it was released officially on the Olympic DVD & Blu-ray, so I suppose it counts. But what about "Queen+ Kerry Ellis" & "Queen+ Britney, Beyonce & Pink" do they count? On both of those releases it never says the words "Queen" Even though Both "Brian & Roger" Play on those tracks & also as you have said,The "Eva Maria Cortes" version of "No One But You" uses the exact same backing track as Kerry's version, But then on the official release it says "Queen+ Eva Maria" Also since "Brian & Roger" count as Queen these days, does that mean, 2 or more members of the band are Queen? I think Not. But since after Freddie's death "Brian, Roger & John" were Billed as Queen up until 1998 & "Brian & Roger" after 2000, so for this I'm going to count the above guidelines as something to work to, as to what is Debatable "Queen" So here are a few more & some Debatable "Queen+" Official releases:- Queen & David Bowie - Under Pressure Queen+ George Michael "Somebody To Love" - 5 Live EP Queen+ George Michael & Lisa Stansfield "These Are The Days Of Our Lives" - 5 live EP Queen+ Elton John "The Show Must Go On" Greatest Hits 3. Queen+ German Cast of WWRY "We Will Rock You" - We Will Rock You 10 Years cd Queen+ German Cast of WWRY "We Are The Champions" - We Will Rock You 10 Years cd Queen+ London Cast of WWRY "Bohemian Rhapsody" - We Will Rock You 10 Years cd Queen+ Will Young "We Are The Champions" - Party at The Palace - DVD Queen+ Phil Collins "Radio Ga Ga" - Party at the Palace - DVD Queen+ Various Artists - 46664 The Event - DVD Queen+ Various Artists - The Freddie Tribute - DVD Queen+ Ian & Melisa "Who Wants To Live Forever" - Queen Greatest Video Hits 2 - DVD (released on a "Queen" DVD 2003) I suppose you could start to get really silly with this "Queen+" thing and start listing things Like "Queen+ Joan Armatrading" "Queen+ Steve Howe", so where do we really start or finish? Is "Seven Seas Of Rhye" the first "Queen+" venture? after all it was "Roy Thomas Baker" who played the outro "seaside" music.. |

If you take a look at every single album and even the official site (web, fb, twitter) claims that Queen is Brian, Freddie, Roger, John. Up to this day the only people who name Brian/Roger are Queen are the press (and some fans) but officially everything without Freddie (except No One But You, in which there's no guests that's why it is a Queen track) is billed as "Queen+" Queen+ its Brian and Roger (and to some extent John) playing Queen songs with guests. To me, as fan of many other bands that have different lineup's over the years, this is a very respectful way to separate the legacy of Queen. A Word In Your Ear wrote: I suppose you could start to get really silly with this "Queen+" thing and start listing things Like "Queen+ Joan Armatrading" "Queen+ Steve Howe", so where do we really start or finish? Is "Seven Seas Of Rhye" the first "Queen+" venture? after all it was "Roy Thomas Baker" who played the outro "seaside" music..Roy Thomas Baker was a producer in Queen II and as it usually happens with producers, they play or arrange something and go without credit. If we were going to apply that logic, then most (or all) beatles albums would be Beatles+ George Martin... I dont think we could call DLYH or Innuendo a Queen+ track: Both collaborations are very short. Neither Steve Howe nor Joan Armatrading are taking Freddie's place. Now, I would not care if Brian and Roger were calling themselves Queen. In the end they are part of Queen, they did developed a huge part of the Queen sound since they were in Smile, and if bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd or Deep Purple can be called Deep Purple with just 1 original member (drummer Ian Paice, who just simply gave the band's control to a non original members Ian Gillan and Roger Glover) I see no problem if they were under the Queen moniker. As a matter of fact, I think Queen fans are the only ones complaining about the name and the line up... |

Interesting topic indeed. Occassionally they even like to forget Albums of the Mercury period. Live at the beeb for example is missing in on of their own booklets despite Live Killers,Live Magic and Live at Wembey were mentioned. ( picture from a 96' Booklet) Also very very interesting...if they had to do a fully complete version of their catalouge after Freddie's death, wich releases would count exactly as Queen+ or Queen feat. or Queen vs. ? I mean there is no official standard I guess. |

( picture from a 96' Booklet)Why on Earth would a Parlophone release be advertising albums released by OTHER companies? I wouldn't be giving free advertisement to my competitors either! (That's also why the Hollywood releases such as Classic Queen and Greatest Hits, or the 12" Collection are missing as well...) |

If you guys paid the same amount of attention I do with certain specialty releases, you'd have known by now that the version of WWRY (along with the "Brighton Rock" guitar solo that precedes it) on the "A Symphony Of British Music: Music For The Closing Ceremony Of The London 2012 Olympic Games" compilation CD is a completely new studio re-recording (and most of the music on that CD are also new re-recordings, due to the IOC imposing a policy that performing artists have backup tracks ready in case of technical issues, which are the tracks you hear on that release) See: http://www.discogs.com/Various-A-Symphony-Of-British-Music-Music-For-The-Closing-Ceremony-Of-The-London-2012-Olympic-Games/release/3897877 I'm really surprised you guys have been really slipping at keeping up with this type of information! Kind of shocking. |

A few tracks are missing from the "46664" project in 2003.. Invincible Hope, The Call, Say It's Not True |
inu-liger 26.10.2014 01:36 |
Yes, but those aren't necessarily "Queen +" stamped songs, unless for "Invincible Hope" Nelson Mandela and/or Treanna Morris(?) were officially credited in their own right under the + banner? |
