Ive seen odd clips of Queen+AL and the lad is a good singer. Im not sure how well known AL is in the US but I have gathered he does have a huge american teen following which may have had some effect on the audience on each of the Queen shows. Over in the UK Adam Lambert is unknown and the take on his guy fronting the band and stepping into very very huge shoes may result in different feedback not only from critics but the UK audience. After Queen's recent european announcment and finding out they are coming to a venue near me Ive spoken to many different die hard Queen/Freddie fans who won't be going. I personally want to go and will go and see them but their responses to me was "who the hell is Adam Lambert?" and "It wont feel the same without Freddie!" I can understand people's comments but its either This Queen or No queen, we can't bring Freddie back so in hindsight it's the next best thing. Id like to hear any honest feedback from people like myself who are not AL fans but are Queen fans maybe from an older generation who have seen and followed Queen for a number of years and have also seen Queen with AL. Maybe if we can get enough positives then I can show my friends the comments to maybe twist their arms and change their minds into going. |

I'm going this time having been dubious in about Lambert in 2014, based on: Brian is playing better than he has for 20 years, Roger seems to be playing better than the last couple of tours, some classic early material is in the set, it's a full 'Queen show' with regard to lights, staging, feel and emotion, and it's possibly the last chance to see half of the greatest band in history 'do their thing...' |

@cmsdrums: Tottaly agree. I went from Brazil to the US just to see them and it was great. Boston was very, very good, and New Jersey was simply magic. Fantastic. Production is much better than QPR and the setlist as well. Adam surprised me positively. They gell together as a band much better than with PR. Adam is good enough for the job, knows how to handle the audience and, most importantly, he is humble enough in face of Brian, Roger, the Queen catologue and Freddie's legacy. People will kill me for this, but I even have to say QAL live version of Love Kills is better than the new album version. I even think a comparison is not fair, because Freddie's vocals had to be adapted to this arrangement, as opposed to Adam having the chance to sing his own take to this version. Well, to sum it up, I travelled a long way just to see them, had an accident and broke a rib before the NJ gig, and I still have to say it was very much worth it. I still have a lot of ribs to spare should I get to see them again. Cheers, Ogre- |

It's the best Queen fill for your buck. (HEFTY bucks. ) If you ABSOLUTELY have to see them then it ain't bad for what it is. A nostalgic Queen revue but hardly the spectacle they're known for. After all. ... they're old buggers now. Lambert's voice is impressive in range and STAMINA. Doing that entire tour without faltering. . Pretty damn good. Although it doesn't lend itself to all the material. One thing. I hope he gets booed when they let him Don the crown. That was just sacrilege. For shame, guys. Anyways. They'll probably add some songs exclusively for the UK Tour. It'd be interesting to guess which. |

My opinion. If your friends dont want to see Q+AL its ok, many people dont like Adam's voice, it doesnt matter if he's famous or not, the only thing that matters is the music: Have you seen the Q+AL videos from the 2014? Have you seen the videos from the UK/Russia dates for the 2012 Q+AL tour? Adam is doing a better performance in the last tour, he got a place not only as a hired gun, but as an artist with creative input. Special attention should be given to the NZ/Aus dates, you have the band in a great shape. If you like what you hear and see, then go and buy a ticket! If you dont like it, if you want to hear Freddie, then go and listen a Queen album. This guys are in their 60s, Brian was talking about retirement last year so I think Brian or Roger wont be playing in about 5 years, this may be your last chance to see them. Do not try to force your friends. Adam is not Freddie, he's not an impersonator either. This is not Queen but Queen+Adam Lambert. |

Hi Bob, I'm a fellow Yorkshireman & of the older Generation also. I have seen all previous "Queen+" Ventures of UK tours & although I thought that Paul Rodgers did a great job in 2005 & 2008..I do have to admit that on the mini Tour of 2012, there was something different about how Brian & Roger were performing, maybe it was the youth of Adam Lambert that had "rejuvenated" them? I don't know? But what I do know is, both Brian & Roger were playing better than they have in a long while. So I say Bob, go to Leeds & have a bloody good time :-) |

Here's a review from the show in Brisbane, Australia: "LIVE REVIEW: Queen & Adam Lambert – Brisbane Entertainment Centre" September 10, 2014 "If you didn’t attend the Queen and Adam Lambert concert because you were “worried” Lambert wouldn’t do the songs justice you missed out on one of the best live shows I’ve ever witnessed. Dramatically opening with “Now I’m Here” Queen and Adam Lambert emerged on stage with a packed Entertainment Centre on their feet ready for a unforgettable night. “Another One Bites The Dust” and “Fat Bottomed Girls” were early sing a longs that united the crowd and calmed anyone second guessing if Lambert would deliver. From then on they all had the crowd eating out of their palm. “Killer Queen”, “Somebody To Love” and “I Want It All” allowed Adam Lambert to shine showing the crowd a cheekier down to earth side of him with hilarious banter in between songs. He connected on a personal level and told everyone how he was just as much of a fan of Freddie Mercury as everyone else in the room and was almost seeking their approval." "....The production was spot on with an incredible array of strobe lighting that visually brought the classic songs alive along with a stage set up that outlined a massive Q. May and Taylor have still got the showmanship which helped made Queen so iconic to begin with. Introducing Adam Lambert to the mix was the right decision as he brought his own approach and style to the songs and would have made Mercury so proud. And can I just mentions that man’s vocal range is INSANE and had everyone’s jaw drop multiple times. If you attended the show you are aware that you witnessed something special. If you didn’t, you will be kicking yourself." link |

Late reply to your post, but here's another (long!) review of the Brisbane concert in September. Adam up front is a fantastic way to bring Queen's music to life for hundreds of thousands of devotees. See them while you can. link |

Lambert will go down fine with the fans in the UK, who will be mostly there to see Brian & Roger. As long as he can sing the tunes he will be fine, and I understand that he can. |

I saw them many times since then. I am in the US but flew over to the UK in 2012 for the chance to seen Queen live with a singer who could do the music justice. I attended all three Hammersmith concerts, met many Queen fans who started out as skeptics and by the 3rd or 4th song were having a great time. The 2014 North American Tour was significantly better than that show. I brought many people to the show and they all had a great time. Yes, it is different that the classic rock era Queen shows that I loved (1973-1980), but it was an great show -- and well worth the price of a ticket. While Freddie is not singing lead, for me there were moments when it seemed like he was there. For example, when the audience sang LOML. And there was not one moment when the concert felt like it was missing something. If your friends want this concert to be a time machine back to 1974, they should stay home. It isn't. But if they love Queen's music and want to see it done with grandly, respectfully then they should definitely go. |

Music is art, but when performed live it's a living ever changing art form. Queen live in the 80's was different to Queen live in the 70's. If Freddie was alive and they were touring ( I don't think they would be if Freddie was still here) it would sound and look different to what it used too. I think the almost 30 years since Freddie appeared has added to the untouchable legacy that shouldn't be altered. The plain fact is that nearly all the people who have gone to see the current tour have come away saying it's good. I don't think anyone should expect a 1980's or 70's Freddie fronted Queen gig. The people who can't accept that are the ones who don't agree with it. I've been a fan since the 70's and I'm looking forward to the forth coming dates. It will be good to see and hear them live in big arenas again doing what they do. They're not the only band touring with a lineup that isn't all original |

If you expect it to be an re-enactment of a 1970's era Queen show, that is not what it is. Setting that aside, I used to look forward to what each new Queen tour would bring -- and they always cooked up something new and that was exciting. And this show is different -- and there are some new aspects -- which I think is a good thing. |
