Hi there, soundbits of all tracks from Queen Forever are on i-Tunes and "Love Kills" is available for purchase. At first listen I couldn't notice any differences in the "2014 Remasters", if there are some, they are very few. They absolutely don't sound like new takes in style of "remixed with different instruments" .... Alternative title for this album should be "The Big Bluff" disappointed ==> see Fish Wanda.... |

What did you expect? |

I don't have access to Itunes so could somebody confirm if TMBMTLTT has been already fixed by Orbit ? (as he stated via twitter that he will make it better) |
pcgenius9 26.09.2014 05:07 |
To me, it doesn't sound quite so horrible as it did on the radio last week! In fact, its labelled as William Orbit mix. |
Mr. Bed Guy 26.09.2014 05:24 |
TMBMTLT sounds the same. The change Freddie/Jacko is in the soundbit. Freddie totally overproduced, Jacko (too) loud and clear, like the leaked radio version |
snelly1 26.09.2014 05:31 |
All sound exactly as per original takes...can't even hear any remixing going on. TMBMTLTT has the same cruddy Freddie vocals as far as I can tell. |

What a disappointment. They really screw themselves and alienate the fan base when they advertise misleading things. Guh |

I've listened through quickly myself - compared the new release's Play the Game to the 2011 remaster, it's definitely a new mix. Nothing mindblowing, but things sound a bit more crisp, and possibly a tiny bit more distinctly spread in the stereo spectrum. |

While we can't listen to the start of Nevermore, it's time is 1:18, exactly the same as on Queen II. Thus, no full isolated piano intro :( Lily of the Valley, however, is 5 seconds shorter than the original, so I'd say it's the proper standalone. |

The only place where the proper standalone version can be found is on the US 1975 7" of Keep Yourself Alive. Even not on the Now I'm Here 7", since that version simply begins when the last note of Flick Of The Wrist has ended. |

These are both things that would be obtained in a remaster, but not necessarily a new mix. So - are you SURE it's a new MIX as opposed to just a REMASTER??? |
cmsdrums 26.09.2014 12:40 |
Just checked out the samples - no remixing present on those clips. The 2014 remasters sound good, admittedly based only on those lossy samples - drums and bass are definitely punchier and there seems to be a better balance and less pushing of everything to the limit. What the purpose is of remastering AGAIN, and only on some tracks, I suppose we will find out when we hear the complete tracks or read the sleeve notes? |
cmi 26.09.2014 14:40 |
Play The Game - 3:14 possibly omits the backwards intro. |
tomchristie22 26.09.2014 18:22 |
Wouldn't a standalone Lily of the Valley be shorter though? As the album version has the acapella 'Baby you've been had' at the start before the piano comes in.

'standalone' means complete song state before merging into medley. If make a cut in the middle of the song, it can be classified by someone as standalone but it's not. |
tomchristie22 27.09.2014 07:30 |
I understand what standalone means. What I'm saying is that being part of the SHA medley actually makes Lily of the Valley run longer, as the track begins with 'Baby you've been had', which is technically the final line of Flick of the Wrist. By removing that element and making it solely Lily of the Valley, they would be making it start from the first bar of piano, thus cutting off 2 seconds of the song. |
dysan 28.09.2014 15:59 |
^^ true. Lazy CD track cue points has made a mess of identifying actual track lengths although it is very easy to hear where they should start. It's been a perennial problem! |

I'm afraid that it is simply the 'butchered' version of the Now I'm Here B-side single. |

It's only put the usa standalone of LOTV, of KYA 75 single!! for god's sake QP, do this!! |

You're right... The fans shouldn't actually say out their opinions about anything. It might hurt the feelings of Brian and Roger! |
tomchristie22 29.09.2014 00:27 |
The fans should at least appreciate that they got a previously unheard song and the freaking Rainbow concert in full over the last two months. I don't think anything would ever be enough to satisfy some of these brats. The only misleading thing about the 'Forever' promotion was their description of 'new takes on old songs' - it was probably just talking about Love Kills and There Must Be More To Life..., but they should have been more thoughtful/specific about it. Other than that, it's been advertised as nothing but a compilation of old ballads, likely with ONE new song, for the last year. I'm pretty sure some people had just merged the compilation idea with the 'Made In Heaven II' idea which Brian has referred to. So, when the compilation's tracklist was revealed, people were unfairly mortified that it wasn't the new 'Made In Heaven', which was never implied to have anything to do with the compilation. |

"Lily of the Valley" on the Singles Collection Box #1 is a stand alone version. |

Expressing opinions (albeit some in a far more coarse way than others) on the 'Forever' release is a different issue. Although we won't know until we hear the full tracks, based on the samples so far feel that they've not been honest either. The press release addresses the three new tracks, and then goes on to reference "THE REST OF THE PACKAGE" when talking about "new takes on well-known songs". Even if it is things like the b side version of Lily of The Valley, this isn't "new" as it was (as stated above) only fairly recently released on the singles box. I fear we may well be victim of a Queen press release using misleading or incorrect wording again. |
tomchristie22 29.09.2014 05:39 |
Ah I see. Yeah, there aren't really any 'new takes' - it's fair for people to be disappointed in that. I'd forgotten how it was worded, my mistake. It couldn't have been referring to Lily of the Valley anyway, unless that classes as a 'well known song'. |

ITSM wrote: "Lily of the Valley" on the Singles Collection Box #1 is a stand alone version.Yes, but as said earlier, that is the butchered Now I'm Here B-side version. The 'real' standalone version is on the 1975 US Keep Yourself Alive single. |
