Are any of you into Hi fi? If so, what system do you have?
I figured it'd be interesting to see what fellow Queen fans use to hear their fave music...
My current set up:
Linn Klout Power Amp
Linn Kairn Pre Amp
Naim CD5 XS CD Player
B&W CM10 floorstanders
Hello
I'm into hi-fi too; have been since the 1980s.
I'm interested in your thread mainly because you mention the Bower & Wilkins CM10's. Wow! These are the exact speakers I'm planning to buy... when I can afford them.
£3,000 new, or maybe 2k second hand. I'd love to hear them first, but will probably buy them blind - given the rave reviews I've seen. And they look FABULOUS.
I researched the hell out of these speakers and found more or less only great reviews.
Would you mind telling me about these speakers. How are you finding them? What sort of room are you listening to them in? What kind of music? What cable? Have you tried different cable? I'd love to know.
For what it's worth, I have an ok-ish system, but of course would love a spare 15k or so, to stretch to a better amp and turntable. Wouldn't we all!!
I just bought a Cambridge Azur amp. For £350 it is unbelievably good. I'd love to hear some AC/DC through it with the CM10s. And then something serene and classical and full of strings.
I have a NAD CD and turntable, and a Kenwood MD (yes I still play old minidiscs). I also have some old Mission speakers I cannot bear to part with, and some Castle Severns which blew up, again, last month.
Thanks

I'm using a speaker which I removed from my dad's old IBM 486. It's a little weak on the bass and mid-range, but ok on the treble. Sometimes, if there is a lot of noise in the room, I have to stick it to my ear with tape just to hear Freddie sing on some of the softer songs. But it does its job, and I consider myself lucky to have a speaker, when so many poor people don't have one.
