I hope it's neither fake nor a joke. |

Jim Jenkins told some fans at the Queen convention last saturday that the Rainbow show is indeed coming later this year and the new album will be a double album. I'm sure we will hear more after the tour. |

Dave76 - Rainbow will be a double album, or the new album (as in Queen Forever) will be a double album? |

Looks good, lets hope the DVD has some nice surprises. |

If they want to do a compilation, they have to have a spare cd for that. |
dave76 12.06.2014 11:32 |
I wasn't there. A good friend of mine was over there and he spoke with Jim and he told him about some plans the band are working on. That's what i was told. Anyway, both projects sounds interesting. |
dave76 12.06.2014 11:34 |
I guess you're right. The rainbow as a double album would be a dream come true. A dvd maybe thrown in and i'll buy it. |

I have a feeling there will be more to the title, and that there will be more formats. |

Wouldn't it be great if it was a "rarities" package?- all the b sides, the new tracks and alternate versions (like the Highlander versions), etc... I still fear it's going to be either another hits compilation, a ballads compilation or a "deep cuts" hodgepodge. |

I think it would be a great idea if Queens 1977 earls court gig was released on dvd and ofcourse 1976 Hyde park which is legendary in the Queen community. i do not think another compilation cd is needed with the new Queen material as they could include alternative takes, demos, instrumentals and bits and bobs which us Queenies have never heard before! |

i remember that "The Rainbow" concert was released a number of years ago in Queens "Box of tricks" release, so why release it again? Something un-seen could have been released yeah? |

It so annoys me when classic concerts get butchered and fans get ripped off left right and centre. Queen productions should know better! |

Is the rainbow concert that gig where john deacon & roger taylor trashed there instruments at the end of the show? i think there was a row going on there somewhere, as Taylor pushed his kit over then deacon let his bass go flying into the amps! May and Mercury got away pretty sharpish as well! |
pittrek 14.06.2014 05:25 |
All right, my "Son And Daughter" video from Rainbow which was on youtube for many, many years has been suddenly blocked for copyright reasons. Coincidence? Or a planned release? Gerry - yes, that\s the gig |
gerry 14.06.2014 05:58 |
yeah i thought that was the gig where hell broke loose at the end of the gig, do you know the story behind this incident then? |

gerry wrote: yeah i thought that was the gig where hell broke loose at the end of the gig, do you know the story behind this incident then? It's funny that you don't know the story. You must to watch bonuses from Days of our lives documentary Queen live 1974-1975 where Brian told story about power damage during live at the rainbow 20.11.1974. This story about the power going out during Liar had been previously attributed to the Rainbow Theatre show in March, but this should now clear things up. Queen encountered plenty of technical problems like this in the early years, so it's of little surprise that they later assembled world-class crews to take on tour with them. Furthermore, the band were aggravated by the film crew, whom they felt were impeding their progress of connecting with the audience. Roger Taylor shows his frustration at the end of the show by smashing his drum kit, even going out of his way to knock over his boom stands. This is seen on the video. |

The perfect release to me would be 2cd of Budokan + 2 DVD of Rainbow. Of course it will never happen. The release will probably be 1 night in CD and the other in DVD. Still, this is a great news, kudos for QP. |
gerry 14.06.2014 09:45 |
hey thanks for that post a great story about Roger smashing his drum kit up, i had heard about freddie smashing a mirror to shreds back stage with a electric iron but not sure if it was also this "rainbow gig". We have all heard about the sex pistols going wild but Queen were the dark horses! |

"The Box Of Trix" was never commercially released as it was only available through the official fan club but no other outlets such as actual record stores or whatever other places that would have sold it. PLUS I think that it was pretty much a limited edition anyway. I also do not not know why this simple information has not been more accessible or stated more than it has in recent years. |

In better record stores there was a section for those limited Editions or collectors items. I saw one Box of Trix for sale back then. It contains a VHS of the rainbow gig and a poster( can't remember what was on it) as far as I remember. Of course they could have buy some boxes of Tricks to re-sell them. |
