Spread Your Wings. The BBC ending of that song is brilliant. Wish it was like that on the actual record. |

I alway's thought Rain Must Fall was John's only song he wrote about Freddie....Of course I could be wrong about that.. I like the song..Vocally and the guitar work is solid. |

i love spread your wings, cool cat, Aobtd and rain must fall equally. RMF is clearly an attempt at an early 80's Stevie Wonder type cut. |

Man........I was gonna say Spread Your Wings................but someone mentioned You And I..........good lord that is an awesome song!!!........nice poppy number with just a bit of rockiness to it...........I just love love love the bridge..........you know could foresee the future years...............there was a thread where someone asked what was Freddies best vocal or something..........that might be close to the top of mu list.............I just love it when hes got a little bit of growl to his voice........... |
ITSM 01.04.2014 02:40 |
I like the line: "Oh, will we be together, forever?" |
Holly2003 01.04.2014 07:23 |
Spread Your Wings is probably my favourite. Regarding the excellent You and I, I believe Fred and/or Brian had a lot of influence on that song. It's hard to imagine John writing such a complicated song, with for example different time signatures and with such complicated harmonies. Up to that point he had only written Misfire and You're My Best Friend -- both fairly simple, although YMBF probably also had a lot of input from the band. John's compositions after You and I are also pretty simple -- Spread Your Wings (no harmony vocals at all), Who Needs You, If You Can't Beat Them, In Only Seven Days, Need Your Loving Tonight, AOBTD etc. |
FlorianS 01.04.2014 08:03 |
You and I. Tough choice as I also love if you can beat them, who Needs you and spread your wings. |
BobbytheCat 01.04.2014 08:53 |
You and I always has been one of my favorite Queen songs |
noorie 01.04.2014 09:04 |
I always feel like laughing when Freddie sings 'I never could forsee the future', and pronounces 'future' in that weird way... (you and I) |

My top 3 : Spread Your Wings (BBC) You and I Your My Best Friend ...but I love all of John's songs. Maybe I'll have to go to Lanzarote and thank the man for his compositions. |

There isn't a bad John Deacon song, but if I really had pick just one. I think my favorite would be I Want To Break Free. Great song, epic video, and very underrated in my opinion |

I Want To Break Free is not my favourite, but worth pointing out that even though it is considered a classic 'pop' song, it is unusual in that regard in that it doesn't contain a chorus at all!! |

Great song, epic video, and very underrated in my opinionMaybe underrated by long-term Queen fans, but certainly not by the legions of people who bought it and sing along to it during the concerts. My favourites, in no specific order: Who Needs You You and I AOBTD YMBF IWTBF Each of them is a true gem, in my opinion, even though the popularity of the last three made them more 'common' and a bit less attractive, for that reason. |
