Hi all,
Haven't been able to find anything on Google so far.
Did the Queen, or the royal family, ever issue any statements on the band, the use of the name "Queen", or on Freddie as an artist in particular?
Thank you!
Jameson
Don;t think this will help ...but...
* FM met some members of the royal family during the Crazy Tour including prince Charles
* Press was awaiting THE QUEEN , and not a rockband when they flew back from their gig at Sunbury music festival.
* FM helped Lady Di slipping a gay bar while she was disguisted as a male... (recent rumour)
* BM met the Queen in person when he received his CBE award. Asking him if it was not as cold as on the roof of Buckingham palace
* The Queen stated she didn't liked Queens music that very much
* Queen recieved awards from a Queen look a like in 1977 (not sure about 77)
@ghostwithasmile Thanks, a lot of great leads!
Do you have a particular reference for this:
"* The Queen stated she didn't liked Queens music that very much "
Thanks again,
Jameson

Not quite sure, but I think this was during her golden jubilee in 2002 ! Sure she stated this , don;t have a reference to her statement. At least tell, though the concert held place in her garden. She did not attend Queen s performance, her grandsons did for sure. This can be seen at the official released dvd.

Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck too.
Apparently she hadn't heard of any of them until that day.

She (like the rest of the Houses of Windsor (Saxe-Coburg-Gotha) and Hanover before her) has a reputation for being a bit of a philistine, as has every monarch since George IV, who was a cad, a liar and a debauchee yet a patron of the arts.
