QUEEN musician Roger Taylor rocked up to the world premiere of West End musical The Commitments on Tuesday night.
He told Day & Night that all is not doomed on the band’s Freddie Mercury biopic after it was announced that Sacha Baron Cohen won’t be taking the role of Freddie and rubbished rumours that Daniel Radcliffe is in the running: “He won’t be Freddie but we’ve found a good actor. Nothing’s set in stone yet.”
Of the rumours that American singer and songwriter Adam Lambert is tipped to play Freddie, Roger said: “Brian [MAY] and I love him to bits. He has charisma and a range like I’ve never heard. It’s extraordinary.” link
Well, this is a bit of a shock :) Not to undermine Adam Lambert's acting ability, because as far as I am aware he didn't have a chance to show it yet... But seriously, this reads like a joke.
Oh please. I honestly wasn't interested in the film if sbc was in it, but, I would most likely have gone to see it. When I read this I was very disappointed. And for those who feel AL over-sings... imagine the acting.
I think people are reading too much into Roger's statement. I don't think both comments are related. Yes, they have some good prospect to play Freddie in the movie and yes, they can't get enough of this Lambert guy. It's a stretch to conclude they want Adam Lambert to play Freddie. There's no way in hell this is going to happen.
