According to Amazon.com and DVDPlanet.com Eagle Rock/Universal will release a 4 DVD boxset including Live in Rio. The other discs are Live at Wembley /Rock Montreal / On Fire. Releasedate: October 22nd, 2013. No mention of the duration of the discs, so we don't know yet if Rio will be the 60 minute-version (like the VHS) or not. Source: link |

I hope that this is not typical QPL recycling bullshit where one is forced to rebuy three concerts to get Rio. |

live in rio is the 60 minutes version, the uncut version it's only in a miracle |

I have a 60 minutes Version of that Rio Gig. It's average. I wouldn't expect too much of that DVD. Maybe some extra footage or songs....buying a complete boxset because of that ? |
Thistle 06.09.2013 19:20 |
^ that's an unofficial release. Crappy transfer quality and shit graphics/titles over each song. |
musicland munich 06.09.2013 19:37 |
@Thistleboy true...but again I wouldn't put too much hope in a more professional release of that gig. |

They played to half a million people and performed great overall. If the uncut video of the first night were in pristine quality, everyone would change their tune about the Rio shows, guaranteed.mooghead wrote: The Rio gig was shit.2nd wasn't too great. 1st night was awesome! As for these pending DVDs - let's not forget that Eagle Rock was behind the excellent re-release of the Montreal 81 show. Maybe there's something special going on here. |

it would nice the full show of rio 85, but first, the 70's releases!! |

the Visuals of the static camera;s made the picture quality horrible! I also recall the drums and guitar of Brian sound very weak. A proper remix of the sound could be a strart. And of course the full show |
rocknrolllover 07.09.2013 01:53 |
Hmmm Rio'85,Ok! But then again Montreal and Wembley? I don't get it! I suppose that two first Dvd's will be for Wembley, others for Rio and Montreal! |

I have Nothing against Rio. I like both concert and not think that the concert is horrible. Just not professionally recorded and mixed |

It helps them get rid of the existing stock, because there are always collectors who are willing to buy their 4th copy when it has a new cardboard slipcase. My guess is that Rio is in there by accident, and won't even be inluded in this package. :P |

When I first saw Rio footage it looked INCREDIBLY badly filmed. Do we know if that's still the case? |

Eagle has released these kinds of box sets before link link It's safe to say these are not aimed at the die hards (what is..?), but rather at people who are looking for a good place to start in the live dvd world of INSERT BAND HERE Of course; the inclusion of a never before available on dvd gig will lure lots of people into buying it (myself included!!). I have little knowledge of Tull's live catalouge, but Deep Purple is one of my favourite bands, so I can comment on the box set above: one of the gigs had never been released before, and one was out of print for quite some time. The production ranged from ok (due to source material) to very good. Considering the price the overall package is noe doubt good value for money, and I happily bought it. The big question about the Queen box is this: has any work been put into remastering the Rio gig? (as evident by the bonus ep on The Works 2011 remaster), and how much of the gig will be included? |

Rhys Thomas: "Rio 85 - the first night. That has never been released and I open the Great Pretender with Freddie in drag singing 'I Want To Break Free.' It's so funny. This is only on youtube but we have tracked down the master copy and fixed the sound. The whole show is good - a cracking version of Somebody To Love on there too." |

Nothing new overall, but the Rio thing got me excited for a second there. If it's going to be quite different compared to the old Rio release, then I'm interested. |

So this could be a DVD boxset with shows from every tour from the eighties: "The Game Tour" - Montreal '81 "Hot Space Tour" - Milton Keynes '82 "The Works Tour" - Rio de Janeiro '85 "The Magic Tour" - Wembley '86 |
Chief Mouse 07.09.2013 09:12 |
Hopefully it's full 1st night Rio gig with remixed sound and remastered picture. That would be actually quite nice. If they repackage the same old 60 minutes version, http://imageshack.us/a/img853/3452/eize.jpg" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us"/> |
